The Bible According To PKs Podcast

We are two church kids raised in Pastors' houses, hence the name Pastors’ Kids (Preachers’ Kids) or PKs. We are both second-generation PKs since our beloved fathers, who were brothers, were also PKs. Thus, we are cousins, and our grandpa is also a preacher. Given that, we possess a good understanding of the church – the good, bad, and ugly. Despite all the things that take place in the heart of a PK, God has kept us, and we still love and serve Him. We are both ministers of the gospel, and our goal is to shed light on the truth of the word of God while sharing it with a unique perspective - the perspective of PKs.Contact Info:email - thebibleaccordingtopks@gmail.comwebsite - https://thebibleaccordingt.wixsite.com/podcast

Church Hurt Series (Ep. 5) - Theological Differences & Church Hurt

Church folk are often good at knowing what the Bible says on any given theological topic. Is Calvinism or Ariminism better? Who is right when it comes to eschatology? While the main thrust of this episode is not geared towards an in-depth look at these theological viewpoints, Joe and Nick talk through how theological differences can lead to church hurt. Additionally, we briefly discuss the difference between heresy and orthodoxy. Often, a person may disagree with the theological perspective of someone else, but it doesn't make them a heretic. We believe there are fine lines between heresy, error, and orthodoxy. Specifically, in this episode, Joe and Nick discuss how their views on the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" differ but use it as a way to talk through how these differences don't separate them from being brothers in Christ and being in community together.  The episode includes a Micro-skit and Riding Nerdy Segment...Micro-Skit: "Oranges and Bananas: How do we pronounce these words?"Contents: Time Stamps00:00 - Intro01:07 - Micro-Skit - Oranges & Bananas04:05 - Everyone's a Theologian 08:32 - Riding Nerdy Segment - Theology 16:58 - Theology, Baptism, & Differences 31:39 - Talking Thorugh Differences38:20 - Closing Thoughts****Church hurt definition: events or circumstances that arise or are caused mainly by a member or a group of members of the body of Christ; these events or circumstances, even if no ill-intent, evil, or wickedness was meant, inflict, bring about, lead to, or damage other members (s) within the body of Christ to the point that it may cause spiritual abuse, offense, separation, division, long-term spiritual consequences (or implications), and/or leads to some abandoning their faith in Christ.   Contact us: we are kind of social...Email - thebibleaccordingtopks@gmail.comWebsite - https://thebibleaccordingt.wixsite.com/podcastFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090625236611Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thebibleaccordingtopks7/Twitter - https://twitter.com/TheBiblePksMusic is provided through https://www.epidemicsound.com

Church Hurt Series (Ep. 4) - Mean Church Folk

If you attend church long enough, you'll probably encounter some mean church folk. Even if those mean church folk have well-meaning intentions, it is still possible for a person to walk away hurt, battered, or bruised from these types of encounters. In this episode, Joe and Nick recount some of their own PK stories where they encountered mean church folk and discuss how they now view those encounters. Also in this episode is our third Micro-Skit: "Oil & Wine Surgery"Contents: Time Stamps00:00 - Intro03:22 - Micro-Skit - Oil & Wine Surgery05:44 - PKs & Church Folk16:55 - Joe's Mean Church Folk Encounter & Dialogue29:03 - Nick's Mean Church Folk Encounter & Dialogue36:37 - Closing Thoughts****church hurt definition: events or circumstances that arise or are caused mainly by a member or a group of members of the body of Christ; these events or circumstances, even if no ill-intent, evil, or wickedness was meant, inflict, bring about, lead to, or damage other members (s) within the body of Christ to the point that it may cause spiritual abuse, offense, separation, division, long-term spiritual consequences (or implications), and/or leads to some abandoning their faith in Christ.   Contact us: we are kind of social...Email - thebibleaccordingtopks@gmail.comWebsite - https://thebibleaccordingt.wixsite.com/podcastFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090625236611Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thebibleaccordingtopks7/Twitter - https://twitter.com/TheBiblePksMusic is provided through https://www.epidemicsound.com

Church Hurt Series (Ep. 2) - Church Politics & Church Hurt

This episode contains our first-ever "Mirco-skit!"Politics, politics, politics! Is church politics a bad thing? Maybe. Maybe not. In this episode of the Church Hurt Series, Joe and Nick spend a considerable amount of time discussing how one aspect of church politics (voting) has caused church hurt over the years. We aren't saying that voting is good or bad; instead, the focus of this episode is on what often happens when people "play politics" in church.  Contents: Time Stamps00:00 - Intro01:55 - Church Politics: Defined04:40 - Micro-Skit - Church Leader Vote09:10 - Church Politics: Voting & Election Church Models19:37 - Church Politics: 4 Stories - Intro21:00 - First Story - "Vote for Me"26:00 - Second Story - "Called to This Position"36:45 - Third & Fourth Story - "An Example of the Cyclical Style of Church Politics"  ****church hurt definition: events or circumstances that arise or are caused mainly by a member or a group of members of the body of Christ; these events or circumstances, even if no ill-intent, evil, or wickedness was meant, inflict, bring about, lead to, or damage other members (s) within the body of Christ to the point that it may cause spiritual abuse, offense, separation, division, long-term spiritual consequences (or implications), and/or leads to some abandoning their faith in Christ.   Scriptural References: 2 Chronicles 20:6Proverbs 4:23Matthew 5:21-26; 13:33; 15:1-9; 22:37-38; 28:16-20Luke 9:50John 13:34-35, 16:13, 17:14-15Acts 1:21-261 Corinthians 5:6-9; 12-25-27Ephesians 1:21-23; 4:151 Thessalonians 4:13-181 John 2:18-19; 3:14Contact us: we are kind of social...Email - thebibleaccordingtopks@gmail.comWebsite - https://thebibleaccordingt.wixsite.com/podcastFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090625236611Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thebibleaccordingtopks7/Twitter - https://twitter.com/TheBiblePksMusic is provided through https://www.epidemicsound.com

Joe and Nick also provide their own categories of where church hurt sometimes come from, including when people claim to have been hurt or offended by God/Jesus.  In other words, this episode is a broad overview of defining the subject matter. The Sermon Box - PK Cred

In the third episode, the PKs (Joe & Nick) wrap up the introductory series by showing their PK skills. The challenge has been set. To prove their PK credibility, Joe & Nick will be asked to preach a 3-minute sermon on a random item the other selects. This episode's inspiration derives from their younger days attending Junior Camp when they were little PKs. To memorialize Pastor Bubba, aka Jim Smith,  who used to do "The Sermon Box" at camp, Joe & Nick will attempt to match feats with him and each other. Background: Pastor Bubba would randomly select campers and give them the sermon box; they were then allowed to find any random object on the campgrounds that could fit in the box. Pastor Bubba would then have to preach a sermon on the item at the next service. Can Joe & Nick each preach for 3 minutes on a random item? Tune in to see.
