In 2021, we began the process of going through the Bible, chapter by chapter, and now we've reached the end. But what did we learn? Join David Alley as he summarises the themes and narrative of The Bible.
Deuterocanon? Apocrypha? Lost books of the Bible? In this Episode, David summarises the Apocrypha, a collection of writings that have had disputed and debated canonicity depending on who you ask. David answers two questions: what's in the Apocrypha, and is it worth reading?
We're not finished just yet! The Book of Revelation is commonly regarded by mainstream sources to be a prophecy about the End of the World. Many Christians regard this book as a prophecy of tribulation, pain, and suffering in our future. However, having gone through each chapter, and seeing the pieces put together, you find that it is not that, but something far greater. Once understood, the book of Revelation is one of the most uplifting and inspiring books in the Bible, with a message of triumph for Christ and his Church.
The Final chapter of both Revelation and the Bible, 22 describes a River that flows through the street of the city from the Throne of God, having the "Tree of Life" on both banks. This sounds like it could be Heaven, but what is it actually?
As we see in this chapter, John witnesses The Bride of Christ, The Holy City, Jerusalem, descend out of Heaven from God. But when this chapter describes "A New Heaven and a New Earth" what does that mean?
In Chapter 20, we reach one of the most hotly debated passages in the Bible: The Millennium. How long is the Millennium discribed in this chapter? What are the major views? We share what how long we think 1000 years actually is!
A Chapter of Triumph! The Rider on the White Horse rides out, conquering the nations. Who is this rider? Jesus of course!
In Chapter 17, we saw the Harlot, named "Babylon the Great". Now, in chapter 18, we read that a city by the same name has fallen, and the Lord speaks harshly of it's doom. But what actually is Babylon?
MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH: The title of one of the Bible's most mysterious characters, but who does this woman represent within Revelation from a Biblical Context? Lets explore our options.
In this chapter the last of the four sets of seven covenant consequences outline in Leviticus 26 are poured out on the land. Its the seven bowls of wrath. And note... its on the 'land' they are poured out. But even more interesting is the explanation of 'Armageddon.... or more specifically Har Meggido - and how this symbol of a lying spirit which leads to destruction occurred twice previously in Israel/Judah and now occurs a third time to Jerusalem.
Chapter 15 of Revelation is a little short chapter, but in here we have the second song taking place in Heaven. Is the worship we see here liturgical or spontaneous? Could it be both? And in Moses song, there is a theme of justice which uncannily connects to the other song of Moses in the Bible found in Deuteronomy 32, where it says God will judge the land. After this we are introduced to the last set of 7 judgements - the 7 angels with 7 bowls.
A number of the parables of Jesus had both a near and a far interpretation. Jesus talked about the end of the age, which was the near meaning for the listeners of his day. He spoke of a harvest at the end of hte age where the wheat and the tares would be gathered and sorted. This chapter of revelation covers this point, and considers the reaping, the harvest of the land at the end of the old covenant age.
To many Christians, it's a big scary number. But its a big scary number that means something. Who is the man behind the mark of the beast?
Lions, Tigers, and Bears oh my! The Beasts of Revelation 13! In this Episode, we cover some of the most hotly debated symbols of the Bible. The Beast from the sea, and the Beast from the Land. What are they? Watch along to find out!
When we think of Jesus dying on the cross we see a meek, and conquered human, at surface level. But we don't see Jesus in the way that this chapter describes him, as a conquerer who defeated Satan at every level. This chapter describes a "great sign" of the child being born who was to rule the world. That child would defeat the dragon and there would be war in heaven as a result, with the dragon being thrown out.
In the chapter 1 video it was explained that the entire book of Revelation is a court room scene. And in chapter 11 we meet two witnesses who testify in the case for the prosecution. A lot of attention has been given to the precise identity of these two witnesses and in this video David outlines a number of these suggestions, and then makes it clear who the two are. He proceeds to explain how they are historic witnesses and not future reincarnations of humans who lived in the past, and how exactly they did die and live again.
Jesus regularly appears througout the book of Revelation, indeed it is a "Revelation of Jesus Christ." (Rev 1:1) Here in chapter 10 we meet a mighty angel and it is the Lord. The angel stands on the sea and the land, representing Lordship over the Jews and the Gentiles, he is the Lord of all. In this Episode we explain the symbolism of chapter ten, and also uncover a clue as to what the voice of the seven thunders said, as revealed by the light of Psalm 29.
In chapter 9 of Revelation we have the blowing of the last three of the seven trumpets. But these three trumpets, release what is called "woe." There are three woes, and each gets successively worse. As each woe is described it becomes clear we are not talking about something literal - indeed the descriptions are so strange it must be describing something highly symbolic and something of a spiritual nature. It would seem it is describing a demonic onslaught.
In Revelation 8 with the opening of the 7th seal, begins the blast of the 7 trumpets. Trumpets are more than cool, they are highly symbolic in the Bible with at least five clear meanings, ALL of which are represented here in this chapter. David will explain the five symbolic meanings of trumpets in the Bible, and how they apply in Revelation 8, and then commence by explaining the first four of the seven trumpets.
The mark of the beast has been controversial in recent times, with many things such as the COVID vaccine, RFID chips, or various ID cards equated with the mark. But in this chapter we consider a different mark, the mark of the lamb. In fact, 144,000 people are sealed with this mark, and it is a symbol representing all believers in the Lord Jesus, from all time, who are all sealed by his Spirit on their minds and hearts. There is nothing weird, or strange or sad about the lamb and his mark. You WANT that mark as it seals you for his plans and purposes and protects you on the day of wrath. In this Episode, we pick up from where we left with the scroll in chapter 6. Jesus has already opened six of the seven seals, and now the last is opened, and this chapter is an interlude before we see what eventuates after that.
