Day 353: Your King

Day 353: Your King

2024-12-1814:49

Psalm 145:1–7, Revelation 11:3–19, Ezra 4:23–24,5:5 The central theme in the teaching of Jesus was the *kingdom of God*. It not only refers to kingdom in a political or geographical sense, but it also conveys the notion of activity – the activity of ruling and reigning. The *kingdom of God* means ‘*the rule and reign of God*’.
Psalm 144:9–15, Revelation 8:1–13, Ezra 1:1–6 When reading and trying to understand the Bible, you have three helpers.
Psalm 144:1–7, Revelation 7:1–17, Malachi 3:1–10 God is described in the Old Testament as ‘the Lord’. In the New Testament passage for today, we see the background to the extraordinary claim that ‘Jesus is Lord!’
Psalm 143:4–8, Revelation 6:1–17, Malachi 1:2,2:15–16 God is the Sovereign Lord of history. But we are not mere robots. You are not being moved around like a piece on a chessboard. Rather, you have a part to play. God involves you in his plans. God works out his purposes in co-operation with his people.
Proverbs 30:11–14, Revelation 5:1–14, Esther 9:1–22 Doing hard things requires us to be lion-like – bold, steely and courageous. Doing things the right way means being like a lamb – gentle, meek and submissive. We are supposed to be a godly mixture of the qualities of both the lion and the lamb.
Psalm 142:7, Revelation 4:1–11, Esther 8:11–17 The Bible has much to say about celebration. There is a *celebration* in heaven every time one person turns to Christ. What should you celebrate? How should you celebrate?
Psalm 141:2–8 Revelation 3:7–20, Esther 3:5-13,4:4–14 The Scriptures tell us that the right kind of rebuke is an important way in which God cares for us, and in which we can care for each other.
Psalm 140:6–13, Revelation 2:18–28,3:1–5, Esther 2:5–17 In each of the passages for today we see that evil will *not* ultimately triumph. At the end of the day, good wins. Furthermore, in this struggle between good and evil, you *can* make a difference.
Proverbs 30:4, Revelation 2:1–17, Zechariah 12:10,13:1,14:9 In today’s passages, we see how Jesus Christ is revealed not only in the New Testament, in the book of Revelation, but also in the Old Testament – in Proverbs and Zechariah.
Psalm 140:1–4, Revelation 1:1–18, Zechariah 9:1–16 In the book of Revelation, Jesus is further unveiled. We get a clearer disclosure of his great love for us, and his victory over evil.

Psalm 136:23–26, 1 John 2:12–27, Daniel 7:1–14 There are evil spiritual forces at work in our world today. Many people today are ignorant or dismissive of spiritual realities. Yet you have the powerful spiritual ‘antiseptic’ to use against these destructive forces. It is vital that you learn to do so.
Psalm 136:1–12, 1 John 1:3–9, 2:1–6, Daniel 6:13–23 Fellowship – it’s a wonderful word. It’s what you were made for. It satisfies the deepest longings of your heart. It is the answer to loneliness. Nothing in this life compares with it. It starts now and goes on for ever.
Psalm 135:13–14, 2 Peter 3:3–18, Daniel 4:37 What do you do while you are waiting for God to do what he has promised to do?
