This is an extra long episode thanks to Mississippi State's football stunner and my trip to the Mississippi Delta. I mean, WHAT A TIME, everyone. The Bulldogs got a signature win against Arizona State, and everything from the uniforms to the crowd to the social media to the CATCHING OF THE FOOTBALL was absolutely fantastic. Naturally Melanie and I break down all of my thoughts and reactions to the game, plus some observations about the college football weekend in general.  We also talk to our good friend Travis Cottrell - who's the special guest for our San Antonio live show - and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites. The first big weekend of the 2025 college football season did not disappoint, and on this episode Melanie and I discuss some of our favorite parts (not to mention our Side Eyes and I See Yous). It didn't hurt that both the Aggies and the Bulldogs were victorious, though admittedly, those wins weren't necessarily pretty. On top of that, Melanie offers an update on Caroline's new Costco membership, and it's my turn for Five Favorites. Since our last episode I've been to New York City, Melanie has been to Nashville, and we both have stories to share. This week Melanie and I ponder the reality of technically being old enough to be grandmothers (we know it's a wonderful thing, but we're just not there yet) - which really makes Melanie's tale of her recent wedge-adjacent injury all the more timely (and perhaps painful). On this episode Melanie and I talk about - wait for it - COLLEGE FOOTBALL. It's the week of SEC Media Days, and that always sparks a little football reflection (and also hope!) in the two of us. Given that, we enjoy a little pre-season analysis of A&M's September schedule before we recap our weekends and discuss a movie that we both unexpectedly adored. What a time. Our hearts are so heavy for everyone who has been impacted by the devastation of the Texas flooding, and we talk about that at the beginning of this episode. We didn't know how to transition into our normal brand of silliness without addressing it, and we're praying that the presence and the comfort of the Lord will be so palpable for everyone who is hurting. Jesus, be near. We also talk about my trip to Canada, Melanie's trip to Knoxville, and what we've been watching. Basically we just try to do what we usually do, and we hope that it will lighten a load / brighten someone's day a little bit.  Take care, y'all.  - Join Us on Patreon - Our Amazon Shop - San Antonio Live Show (10/23/25) tickets are on sale now! I'm on the Atlantic Ocean somewhere between Canada and Maine this week (Melanie opted out of the trip because of the aforementioned ocean), so we recorded this episode before I left Birmingham, and we asked our friend Cole Cubelic - who is one of our all-time favorite people - to join us. As some of you may remember, Melanie and I met Cole a couple of years ago after he saw us at an event where my hair clip was in a constant state of malfunction. Now he's like the little brother we didn't know we needed. So this week we catch up with him about life and his thoughts about this fall in the SEC and the real meanings behind phrases that coaches use over and over.  We don't do Five Favorites this week, but I'll be back with five fresh favorites next week. :-)  Enjoy, everybody! - Join Us on Patreon - Our Amazon Shop - San Antonio Live Show (10/23/25) tickets are on sale now! We also talk about State's baseball coach news (very exciting!) before we consider all the things we don't know or understand about this current generation of toddlers.  On top of that, Melanie shares Perry's new YouTube discovery, and it's my turn for Five Favorites. Well, 'tis the season for NCAA baseball regionals, so this week Melanie and I discuss the fact that the Bulldogs are headed to Tallahassee, and we also briefly analyze the SEC uniforms this season (you may be surprised by the team I have designated as the uniform winner). Plus, we talk about Mel's adventures with getting Caroline's suitcase(s) packed for Europe and the complications that arise when husbands decide they want to be healthy eaters. Well, on this episode Melanie and I are both at the mercy of our children's airline travel woes, which means we got interrupted by phone calls and texts while we were recording since we were trying to help with troubleshooting and whatnot. Besides that, though, we talk through Japan travel prep, David's best technological day, and Hazel's sassy new Pilates-esque accessories. We also learn about a Netflix show that Melanie has loved, and we share our Graduation Gift Guide for 2025. Hope you enjoy! For some reason the show notes aren’t appearing - not sure if it’s Castbox or user error or BigBoo tech difficulties but I need the skincare links! So good!
