I’m a quality over quantity type of person.   In a few key words, understand that my story is the driving force behind what I do.  I’m lucky enough to work with a handful of employee benefit producers & financial advisors, and many of them I get to call friends. Together, we consult their employer & individual clients on income protection (otherwise known as disability insurance – but that name drives me insane).  Most clients have no idea what their income protection situation looks like, and I don’t blame them.  Fortunately (or unfortunately), I come from a place where knowing what your income protection policy says is REALLY important; ultimately, it’s because my family lived off those benefits for 20 years while my Dad, a former CPA, battled a rare form of cancer called Esthesioneuroblastoma.  Most advisors know about disability insurance, but they already have their hands full with a client’s health insurance needs or investment portfolio. That becomes their primary focus. I work behind the scenes (and sometimes from the main stage) as their income protection expert, helping them consult & educate their clients.  Providing quotes is not my value-add, nor is distributing “sales advice”. If you want to sell a policy to hit quota, please go elsewhere. If you want to have a meaningful conversation with your client, and be a true consultant of their income planning, then you’ll likely enjoy connecting with me.  I aim to give every advisor the education & ability to have this conversation with their client, and I provide much of that content here on LinkedIn.  My ultimate goal is for people to understand what they don’t know about their income, whether I’m involved or not.  Thank you again for taking the time to read this – if you’d like to connect, please feel free. Marshall is seeking degrees in Exercise Science and Marketing, and a minor in Psychology. He is a Certified Personal Trainer through multiple distinctions to bring maximal results to his clients. I started out on the Pre-Med route in college and learned very quickly that I hated science and chemistry. At that point I really had no direction and didn’t know what I wanted to do next. That’s when a new $56 million mixed-use development was about to start construction on campus and I knew I had to be a part of it! Got ahold of the owner/developer and he wanted me to help with getting people to attend the Groundbreaking, then we could maybe talk about a job. Got help from fraternity brothers to pass out flyers on campus and got a few hundred people to attend the Groundbreaking! I was the first one hired at the development and really learned the ins and outs of real estate and real estate development work. After getting a real taste of the business, I knew I had to take a stab at this real estate thing on my own! I worked with a team and we founded a modular housing development company that would use the same layout as houseboats and houseboat manufacturing plants to create affordable, energy-efficient modular housing. With the housing market crash of 2008, we were looking at ways to give back jobs to 1100 skilled workers laid off at the houseboat factories, while creating affordable housing for families in need. We ended up winning business plan competitions competing against teams from others universities from across the country, and being told by the venture capitalist judges that we were onto something. It wasn’t until the VCs told us we were onto something, did we really start to believe in ourselves. We ended up winning business plan competitions competing against teams from others schools from across the country, and being told by venture capitalists that we were onto something. It wasn’t until the VCs told us we were onto something, did we really start to believe in ourselves. After college, we strove to grow the company and find partners in the real estate world with experience and the needed financial backing. That’s when I started talking with LDG Development and absolutely loved the work they were doing to further affordable and workforce housing for families in need. I have been with LDG since then, and am so fired up about the work we have been able to accomplish. www.evanholladay.com https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/monumental/id1360914874?mt=2
