We made it passed episode 10! Can you believe it? To celebrate it we actually had a meaningful discussion about care for local businesses in the times of COVID-19 and beyond. After that it’s the usual nonsense. We talk about late Joel Schumacher and mention our favourite films he directed (we don’t list his sexual partners, even he lost the count). Conor has some breaking news about Batman, ‘Tenet’ is delayed again and we discuss safety measures that await audiences in the cinemas when they reopen.Conor didn’t have time to watch anything this week as he keeps playing through 'The Last of Us Part II'. Rado, on the other hand, doesn’t play any games and he watched a ton of films, new and old, and few TV shows. He also warns against watching ‘365 Days’ that keeps trending on Netflix, despite it’s a Polish movie. It’s just very, very bad!We review Spike Lee’s latest movie - ‘Da 5 Bloods’.At the end, we reflect on 2020 so far and list our favourite films and TV shows.Run of the show:00:00 Support your local shopsNews10:28 Joel Schumacher passed away18:40 Michael Keaton will return as Batman!20:21 'Tenet' delayed yet again21:30 Concerns about safety measures at cinemas26:33 Taipei Film Festival - first one to go live after COVID-19 broke the world What have we’ve been watching27:55 Conor keeps playing 'The Last of Us Part II'29:40 'What We Do In the Shadows' (series 2, BBC iPlayer)30:57 'The Salisbury Poisonings' (miniseries, BBC iPlayer)33:45 'Mad Max: Fury Road' (Amazon Prime)34:14 'Game Night' (Amazon Prime)34:34 'Hoop Dreams' (MUBI)35:10 '7500' (Amazon Prime)35:44 'The Vast of Night' (Amazon Prime)36:20 'Into The Unknown: Making Frozen 2' (documentary series, Disney+)39:45 'The Woods' (miniseries, Netflix)41:37 '365 Days' (Netflix)Review45:45 'Da 5 Bloods' (Netflix)68:10 Our favourite films and TV shows from 2020 so far Our choices for 2020 so far.Films:Conor: JoJo Rabbit, 1917, The Invisible ManRado: Never Rarely Sometimes Always, Uncut Gems, Dark WatersTV ShowsConor: The Outsider, Devs, DaveRado: Better Call Saul, Normal People, The Last DanceSend us Your favourites of 2020 so far to our Tweeter or email us: hello[at]blockbusters.net ----more----You can find us online on Twitter: @BlockBusterspod, @rdfolta and @designconor.We both have Letterboxd profiles, where you can track what have we've been watching:Rado: radoxConor: CNRBYLOur theme music is by Scott Holmes and you can find more of his work at scottholmesmusic.com. Thank you for listening. This is our special episode, where we decided to choose a film for one another to watch. A film that would reflect our personalities and the type of entertainment we enjoy. Rado asked Conor to watch Pawel Pawlikowski’s Oscar nominated ‘Cold War’. Conor asked Rado to watch middle part of Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy - ‘The Two Towers’. Our reactions are more than surprising, so please check them out! Both films are available on Amazon Prime with your subscription (if you have one).Apart from that, we have some news cinema releases, Conor raves about some minor game on Playstation and the ghost (most likely of one of the British monarchs) knocks the poster off his wall.Enjoy!00:00 Conor’s first impressions of ‘The Last Of Us Part II’News13:35 ‘Tenet’ and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ postponed! Time for the big review episode! We continue our discussion about TV shows and films everyone's talking about. We go back to the 90's in the ESPN documentary series about Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls in their final season. We get transported to the Moon with a comedy series from Greg Daniels (creator of ‘The Office’ and ‘Upload’) and Steve Carell, but is it funny enough to make us laugh? We check out why Chris ‘Capitan America’ Evans is defending Jacob in Apple TV+’s thrilling drama. And we both reveal our favourite rom-coms when talking about new Netflix movie ‘The Lovebirds’!And at the very end - wait for it - we list all popular actors with first name Chris, before Conor remembers the right Chris. 01:25 The Last Dance (TV documentary series, Netflix)Check out this video (around 5 minutes in) of manipulation of news footage from the past in The Last Dance20:02 Space Force (TV series, Netflix)31:18 Defending Jacob (TV series, Apple TV+)45:00 The Lovebirds (movie, Netflix)Check out this interesting documentary essay on MUBI on romantic comedies directed by Elisabeth Sankey Please join us for the next week’s Special Episode 10, when we will be talking about movies that we have chosen to watch for one another. In todays episode we dive head on ‘Into the Night’ in a Netflix European TV series, one of us challenges Deve Burr aka Little Dicky aka ‘Dave’ for a helm of the best rapper in the world, and we discover yet again that love is little bit complicated in a Netflix teenage comedy ’The Half of It’ directed by Alice Wu. The force is with us when we review documentary ‘The Skywalker Legacy’, that turns out to be much better film than the movie it depicts (yes, we mean ’The Rise of Skywalker’). And finally, we explore “joys” of living in rural Pennsylvania in exquisite movie ‘Never Rarely Sometimes Always’ directed by Eliza Hittman. It’s a pretty fun episode, that gets dark towards the end (literally). 00:00 Freestyle Intro01:18 Proper Into04:10 ‘Into The Night’ (TV show, Netflix)11:10 ‘Dave’ (TV show, FX / BBC 2)29:30 ‘The Half of It’ (Netflix)36:00 ‘The Skywalker Legacy’ (documentary, Disney+)44:56 ‘Never Rarely Sometimes Always’ (all major digital platforms) You can find us online on Twitter: @BlockBusterspod, @rdfolta and @designconor.We both have Letterboxd profiles, where you can track what have we've been watching:Rado: radoxConor: CNRBYLOur theme music is by Scott Holmes and you can find more of his work at scottholmesmusic.com.Thank you for listening!
