How the nuclear bomb shaped world history. The scientists who raced to build weapons, the spies who stole the technology and the superpowers who grappled with deployment.
In Season 3, nuclear war is terrifyingly close. Can the superpowers of the Soviet Union and the USA prevent apocalypse? Nina Khrushcheva and Max Kennedy, relatives of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev and US President John F Kennedy, tell the story of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Season 2 is about Klaus Fuchs, the brilliant young physicist from a pacifist German family whose spying for Russia changed history.
Season 1 tells the story of Leo Szilard, and the scientist’s discovery of the lethal potential for nuclear weapons in the race to beat Nazi Germany.

my grandfather also worked at the Y12 building in oakridge, TN as a draftsman during that time. I wish I knew more about his work. I don't even know where to start
It's really great pot cast
Really enjoyed this series. I wonder where they will take it next?
why the first season from here can't be played any more? Is it only for me?
What a show!
hello I guys I'm Persian and I love Japan and united state but I think to myself United state shouldn't do this.
A super podcast. Season 2 is even better than season 1 IMO.
One superpower uses the bomb and kills thousands of innocent people just to scare another superpower. This is outrageous. Sometimes we should not call ourselves human beings.
Season 2 of your podcast really changed the way of viewing the world's superpowers and how we are living in the nuclear weapons era. Indeed the nuclear weapon is the cause of peace after WW2. And in fact, many people owe their lives to people like Klaus Fuchs.
where can I get episodes transcript?
the episodes have become too short lately.
New one
can't wait for the nex episode.😍😍
I loved the first season beyond count, but the 2nd one is even better.
The show agonizes me that when the host dicussed the brutalness of ww2 Japanese soldiers, it focused on the US and ignored Singapore, China, Philippines completely.
Intriguing. Seen from an angle not known to the general public. Highly recommended.
I have just discovered this myself and have just been listening to the first episode. I'm already well hooked!
Generational guilt? Please 🤣
Really well done. Thank you for this.
The tone of this podcast is great
