Today’s rules of marketing force us in one direction: be everywhere, all the time, non-stop.   It’s all about more content, more entertainment, and of course - more virality. Here’s the problem for moms: this isn’t a sustainable version of marketing. It’s exhausting, guilt-inducing and unrealistic. Our life requirements don’t align with being online all the time, and we shouldn’t have to play by those rules to succeed.   No matter what: our children will always be the dominant priority in our lives. Why not set up our business with this in mind, instead of forcing ourselves to market the way everyone else does? Can we do marketing on our own terms and still have success?   We want to live in a world where moms don’t have to say yes to ridiculous unsustainable ways of marketing, starting now. In this episode, I talk about why moms can’t run their businesses the way everyone else does, and how to succeed on our own terms.   The rules of business and marketing aren’t realistic or sustainable for moms. We need to stop forcing ourselves to be successful in the same way as people who don't have our life requirements. -Dana Malstaff    3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -How to create a legacy of loving what we do Our kids soak up everything we do. If running our businesses leaves us feeling guilty, drained, sad and unsuccessful, that’s what they’ll believe about work. How do we change that?   -Experts vs. content creators It often feels like if we’re not pointing, dancing or entertaining, we aren’t marketing. Could this viral, content creator approach actually be detrimental? Is there a better way?   -Productivity isn’t just about time Taking advice from people who don’t understand our lives is dangerous. How do we see time management, boundaries and priorities from our perspective as moms?
As entrepreneurs, there’s a ton of pressure to commit to one thing and stick with it, no matter what. Even though we’re constantly evolving, switching things up makes us think we’re wishy-washy, indecisive and uncommitted. Does that mean we have to sell and say the same thing forever, even when it’s no longer in alignment with us?   Life's too short to stick with something that's not lighting us up just because we're scared of looking flaky. We shouldn’t be afraid of letting our businesses evolve like we do.   How do we make a big change without feeling guilty? How do we shamelessly move toward what makes sense for us and our businesses?   In this episode, speaker and bestselling author, Marki Lemons Ryhal shares real-life tricks to making big moves without second-guessing ourselves.   It's about being an active lifelong learner willing to implement changes and own who you are, whether it could be a mistake or not. -Marki Lemons Ryhal   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Why saying "yes" to change can be your best move How can saying "yes" to change transform your life and propel you forward?   -Getting loud about what you love – why it matters Why does getting vocal about your passions attract the people and opportunities you truly want?   -Jumping on new chances – how it's done How can taking a leap into something new actually be the best way to grow and feel alive?   Guest Bio   Marki Lemons Ryhal is one of 100 speakers selected out of over 1,300 to speak at the REALTOR® Conference & Expo ten times (face-to-face and virtually) with high program evaluations and an INMAN Closing Keynote Speaker. So many women have juicy and purposeful potential inside them, but because they’re too depleted to see the possibilities, it never sees the light of day.   We tell ourselves that being moms is what’s holding us back. The truth is: not tapping into our potential has nothing to do with our kids, and everything to do with our own emotions.   When we operate from an agitated nervous system, urgency, overwhelm and exhaustion become the norm. When we step out of our spinning minds and shift into presence, the awesome things we’re pushing hard to have will just flow to us.   That way, we’ll never have to choose between the greatest gift in life, and our purpose and contribution to the world.   How do we repair our nervous systems so we can start operating from a place of calm and wholeness? Can we unearth our purpose by doing less?    In this episode, I’m joined by top ranked podcast host, 8 figure spiritual and business coach, and author of the upcoming book “Abundant Ever After”, Cathy Heller. She shares how moms can design lives filled with purpose, peace and presence.    When your nervous system is agitated, you will keep making lists, feeling depleted and doing everything for everyone. When you repair it, you can find peace, calm and start feeling a sense of wholeness. -Cathy Heller     3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Doing everything for everyone is selfish  Many women put too much on their plates because we think it’s generous and loving. Are we actually stealing something valuable from people when we do that?    -Don’t do more, be more  How do we stop being forceful and pushy about getting what we want and learn to let it flow to us effortlessly?    -What happens when our cups are filled  We often think pouring all our energy into our kids is the key to their happiness. Do they actually benefit more from us living in our purpose and feeling seen in our own right?  Guest Bio Cathy Heller is a top ranked podcast host of The Cathy Heller Podcast, a truth seeker, 8 figure spiritual and business coach, and author focused on helping women create a life of abundance, joy, and purpose. Visibility is crucial for business growth, getting new clients, and increasing sales. However, for many, especially women and mothers, being seen is a significant challenge. Beyond the realm of business, there's a deeper struggle: the quest for identity and purpose.   Balancing personal aspirations with societal expectations can be overwhelming. The fear of judgment often holds us back from our potential to be visible.   What mental barriers prevent us from putting ourselves out there? How do we reach a point where we are comfortable with being visible?   In this episode, CEO and owner of Hey Jessica, YouTuber and marketing strategist Jessica Stansberry joins me to talk about the journey to being visible for business, why being seen is a big deal for a lot of people and her encouraging experience with putting herself out there.   Our content is helpful in some way to someone all the time. -Jessica Stansberry   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -The evolution of YouTube How has the platform shifted since its launch?   -When we don’t love what we do What does putting things off or not giving them enough energy tell us?   -Audience affirmation Can our online audience affirm us?   Guest Bio Jessica Stansberry helps content creators and entrepreneurs use content to start, grow, and scale their businesses so that their content makes them money while they sleep. Navigating the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, particularly for Boss Moms, involves constant shifts, uncertainties, and tough decisions. One of the most daunting challenges is the pivot – transitioning from a known, successful path to something uncertain.   It's not just about the business; it's about the emotional turmoil that comes with it. Doubts creep in - Will the change be worth it? What if it fails?   Contrary to popular belief, us moms don’t have it all figured out so where do we go from here? How do we overcome the fears that come with a pivot in business?   In this episode, founder of Mother Like a Boss Kendra Hennessy joins me to talk about the emotional components of pivoting when owning a business, the ups and downs in entrepreneurship and how she took her in person business to the online world.   It feels really scary to leave something behind that is successful for something that is unknown. -Kendra Hennessy   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Is change necessary? How do we ‘shed our skin’ to step into a new phase of who we are and what we want to become.   -The explanations behind our reasoning Why don’t we have to justify our reasoning to those around us?   -Letting go and moving on Is it okay to grieve a part of our life that may be over? How do we move on?   Guest Bio Kendra Hennessy is the founder of Mother Like a Boss where her mission is to make house cleaning more doable for regular moms so you spend less time tidying your space and more time enjoying your life. We are always constantly juggling multiple tasks with barely a moment to spare.   It can get overwhelming and frustrating especially when we lose focus.   Is there a solution that takes just one minute of our time and can make a world of difference?   Enter one-minute success hacks; quick, actionable strategies that can help us achieve both our personal and business goals, even when we're short on time. How do these simple, yet incredibly effective strategies maximize our productivity and clarity in just 60 seconds?   In this episode, I share mind-blowing one-minute hacks for success, how it can help achieve personal and business goals and the hidden power in starting off small.   One-minute success hacks are crucial to actually reaching your goals in life. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Get fit, one minute at a time How do we get moving and things done when we don’t love the idea of workouts in the first place?   -Multitasking How do we get the most out of stacking activities?   -Impactful breathing exercises How can breathing exercises help us when we get frantic? Can it help us get our focus back?
As moms, we're bombarded with advice from all angles - including successful men.  Should we really be taking advice from them?   Their success is undeniable, and they may make really great points, but can they truly understand the intricacies of motherhood? This dilemma leaves us torn between wanting to benefit from their wisdom and doubting if it truly applies to our lives.   How can we stop dismissing advice from successful men outright and adopt a more discerning approach?   In this episode, I talk about whether or not we should take advice from successful men as Boss Moms, how to identify the nuggets of wisdom that they share and when exactly we should heed their advice.   If people don’t fit in with your belief system or moral compass then you’re not going to want to take their advice no matter who they are. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Generalized marketing Do we need to listen to people who don’t resonate with us?   -Everyone can add value How do we take the approach of learning from different angles?    -When to not take advice How do we figure out when advice is just not fit for us?
Juggling a million tasks, striving to ensure everything runs smoothly. Constantly worrying if everyone around us is okay. As moms, it’s a heavy burden we carry.   The relentless pressure to bear the responsibility for everyone's happiness and well-being is well…exhausting. Does being a mom and a woman mean maintaining control, fixing every problem, keeping everyone happy? No…and the sooner we release ourselves from the pressure, the easier everything gets.   What’s the one skill moms have a hard time learning but can have the most valuable pay-off? How do we not fall back into the norm of what we’re used to?   In this episode I talk about not taking on the burden of making sure everyone and everything is okay, why moms have a hard time figuring it out and how we can do less while contributing more.   There is a big distinction between being there for the people that you love and making sure everybody’s okay all the time. That is not the burden you need to bear. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -The pressure we face How does the burden of making sure everything and everyone is okay affect us?   -Step 1  Why is it so important to first recognize the problem?   -Supporting vs. stifling How do we deprive the people we love by taking on the burden of making sure everything is okay?
As moms, there’s a constant pressure to put our maternal identity above everything. Of course, our kids are important, but there’s a lot more to us than that.   Our worth isn’t determined solely by how much time we dedicate to our families. Neglecting our other identities and passions can lead to a profound loss and disconnection from ourselves.   How does the pressure sabotage our ability to be truly happy and connected as women? How do we recognize and embrace our multitude of identities as women without feeling guilty?   In this episode, I talk about how having a guilty mom mindset can sabotage your success. I also talk about fostering a balanced approach to identity and how to give our identities as women enough time and space.   We are so many more things than just being a parent. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Figuring out who we are as women How do we figure out exactly who we are as women? What aspects do we look at?   -Our identity as partners Does our identity differ when we have a partner as opposed to when there is no one else included in our lives? What does that look like?   -The mindset that children are everything How has culture set this mindset up and made it a norm? Is this the correct mindset to have?
As moms, business owners and women, our lives are constantly changing. We grow, discover new interests, and we get bored in our businesses, and we’re left wondering if it’s time to pivot.   Now, before we go uprooting everything and making huge changes, we really have to check in with ourselves first. Sometimes what feels like a new direction to shift into is nothing more than a short-term burst of excitement.   How do we tell the difference between needing to pivot and needing to just make small tweaks to what we’re doing? What questions should we ask ourselves?   In this episode, I talk about whether you should tweak or move onto something different.   If you don’t know what to say past a certain point, that’s a really good indicator that this isn’t a long-term pivot for you. -Dana Malstaff     3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Know your North Star  How do we tell the difference between tweaking what serves our higher mission, and needing to make a big change?    -Why you’re itching to pivot Will a pivot make you happy in the long-term, or are you jumping the gun because you’re excited about a new area of interest?   -Start small  Before we make massive changes, what should we try first?
Every mom struggles with the pressure to be present and connected while also excelling in our businesses.   We all want to have it all, but honestly, it can leave us feeling like a rubber band being pulled way too thin. That nagging feeling creeps in – are we doing enough for our families or our careers?   How do we figure out our limits and make peace with the fact that we can't do it all? Can we switch up our mindset a bit?   In this episode, GM of Innovation at SamCart Olivia Herron joins me to talk about how to shift from a martyr mindset, why we need to be okay with not having control all the time and why it's okay to have off days. We also talk about the aspirations outside of being a mother.   Not everything requires you to be in control. -Olivia Heron   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Be proud of you As Boss Moms, we do it all and we need to give ourselves permission to brag.   -Having a martyr mindset How does having a martyr mindset create emotions of resentment?   -The outcome vs. the journey Can the process of accomplishing something be as powerful as the outcome itself?    Guest Bio   Olivia Herron exists to champion the untapped potential of small businesses. As women, we often find ourselves woven into the company of people who may not be of our choosing. The energy they bring, their perspectives, and their influence can significantly impact our well-being.   But what happens when we crave control over the energies we absorb, and want a circle of individuals who truly align with our essence and aspirations?   As strong and capable women, the question remains: how do we take charge of the energies we invite into our lives? How do we say no to things that don't serve us?   In this episode personal coach for professional mothers and keynote speaker Allison Hare joins me to talk about finding people who we are comfortable with, why we should surround ourselves with people who give us energy as well as how to find people who align with our values.   We want to live in a world where every woman feels whole. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Find your tribe When we find our tribe, we get comfortable and don’t have to hide who we are. How does this help us protect the energy around ourselves?   -Coaches vs. therapists Why do some people prefer coaches over therapists?   -Laying the armor down What does it look like to lay the armor down as a strong woman and find someone we can open up to and trust?   Guest Bio   Allison Hare is the former sales executive turned lifestyle entrepreneur. Whether it’s known to us or not, a ton of our perspectives, behaviors, and triggers are dictated by situations that happened when we were kids.   How we show up in our relationships, parenting and even our businesses always tracks back to our childhoods. Some of the things we brush off and label as “just who we are” actually have a lot to do with early family dynamics. Understanding how these things shaped us is an opportunity to change them, and as parents, that’s really important.   How do we identify these things and work to change them? What steps can we take to raise emotionally regulated kids? In this episode, I’m joined by psychotherapist, TikTok personality and author of “Your Pocket Therapist: Break Free from Old Patterns and Embrace a Happier Life”, Dr. Annie Zimmerman. We talk about the important work she’s doing, and how we can connect the dots between how we act now and what we experienced back then.   Of course, genes and personality exist, but it’s almost always ways of coping and things we think ‘that’s just who I am’ that track back to family dynamics when we were younger. -Dr. Annie Zimmerman   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Normalizing emotions  As parents, how do we raise emotionally aware and emotionally resilient children?   -Surprising sources of triggers Movies and TV shows are seemingly innocuous, but do they actually create triggers later on?    -A lot of our suffering plays out in the field of relationships  How do our childhoods affect how we show up in our romantic relationships?   Guest Bio Dr. Annie Zimmerman is a psychotherapist and TikTok personality, working with clients from a psychodynamic approach. When the pressure to close deals overshadows the desire to connect with others, sales can feel uncomfortable. The traditional, salesy approach creates a sense of inauthenticity that affects how we sell and leaves people feeling skeptical.   Authenticity is about being genuine, transparent, and focusing on building relationships rather than just closing deals. We need to understand the unique needs of our audience and communicate the value of our product or service in a way that resonates with them on a personal level.   How do we get comfortable selling while still providing value? How does being authentic help us to network and build our businesses?   In this episode, Authenticity Strategist Inga Faison-Cavitt joins me to talk about what it means to be authentic when selling, why we need to get more comfortable when selling and where she gets the perseverance to figure things out.   I believe that questions are the answers. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Get comfortable selling How do we shift our mindset on selling?    -Why women feel uncomfortable selling What makes sales feel so uncomfortable?   -How to make people feel valued How do we build the know, like and trust factor and provide value to those we sell to?     Guest Bio   Inga Faison-Cavitt, AKA Ingafay, is an Authenticity Strategist. As we step into the new year, many of us are filled with anticipation and a sense of renewal, eager to start the year on a positive note.   Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to lose sight of our goals and become overwhelmed by the decisions we face. Lack of clarity and focus can leave us feeling stuck, hindering our ability to own our accomplishments and make meaningful strides.   How do we make decisions that matter? How do we understand the choices we make? How do we focus on growing as thought leaders?   In this episode to kickstart the new year, I talk about reaching goals and some of the changes in 2024. I also talk about having a business and putting my family first as well as how to move forward this new year. Decide how you want to be aligned. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Be humble and a great leader Are being humble and being a great leader mutually exclusive?   -Owning our successes How do we celebrate what we've accomplished and not feel guilty about it.   -Identifying misalignment  How do we move forward when we feel misaligned?
The constant internal conflict between conforming to societal expectations and pursuing our authentic desires can lead to feelings of guilt and frustration. It's a struggle that many face – the yearning to break free and live a life that brings genuine happiness and fulfillment.   In a world where societal expectations and norms often dictate our paths, it's easy to feel shackled by circumstances that don't resonate with our innermost wishes.   How do we recognize what we truly want? Why is it so important that we have people around us that fuel our need to pursue what we want rather than take away from it? Is it crucial to stay true to the things you want?   In this episode, CEO of Pursuing Results Matt Johnson joins me to talk about building the life that we want. We also talk about our relationship and why it's important to grow in the same direction as your partner.   You have to give yourself permission to be brutally honest about what you want. -Matt Johnson   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Do opposites attract? We’ve read the books and we’ve watched the movies but do opposites attract in reality? What does that look like?   -Being brutally honest about what you want Why is it important to be brutally honest about what we truly want?   -Why don't we have to fit into the norm? There’s no rule that says that we have to do things that are normalized. How do we find our own version of normal?
We're living in an era filled with both excitement and fear, where we have new opportunities. Yet the pressure to conform to traditional norms can be overwhelming. The idea that the world is our oyster can be empowering, but the reality is often a struggle against the pressure to fit into a mold.   Living up to others' expectations may result in a sense of disconnection from our true selves, creating a distorted sense of reality.   How do we break free from doing what's traditional and can it help our children to do the same? How do we challenge the conventional norms and encourage our kids to embrace both new opportunities and what they want?   In this episode life strategist, author, therapist and co-host of Be.Play.Love Sophie Chiche joins me to talk about living life the way we want to, why it's so important to do things the way we want to and not the way the world expects us to.   A lot of pain is from living a life that is not really your own. -Sophie Chiche   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Being busy vs. being burnt out How do we know if our level of activity is masking something else?   -Start to say no How do we use the word “no” with confidence?   -Masterful self-management  How do we mentor ourselves so that we can mentor our kids?    Guest Bio   Sophie is a French import on an emotional asylum visa. The desire to understand ourselves and others is universal. When it comes to the compatibility of religious faith and astrological beliefs, confusion and skepticism often arise.   It's a dilemma many grapple with: can we simultaneously have faith in the religious sense and believe in astrological guidance?   How do we reconcile the teachings of our faith with the insights offered by astrological charts? Why does astrology sometimes become a source of controversy?   In this episode, CEO & Founder of Astrology Hub, Amanda Walsh joins me to talk about the split between astrology and religion, how our personalities align with certain things in astrology as well as the concept of karma.   Astrologers can see the tide. They are so intimate with the cosmic and energetic tides that they can see that something big is coming. -Amanda Walsh   3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode   -Inappropriate placement of trust and authority Sometimes we put our trust in the wrong places.
