April All Year

Worked on a psych ward for a year. Working on a psych is a kaleidescope of experiences that take you places you have not been before. Psych care in USA and dare i say, worldwide, needs to be beefed up. Majorly. May The Force be with all psych patients and their caregivers and families of both.

Love the psych ward stories! I worked at a mental hospital for 3 years with kids and although it was very stressful, you had love for them and you can take a lot when compassion is fueling you.

I have this irrational fear of something happening and needing to run out of my house. I leave shoes in almost every room so I can run for it without cutting my foot open. Not sure if this stems from the effect of our house burning down when I was an infant (my step-grandmother died in it and my mom cut her hand open passing me through a window to my grandfather), or this weird recurring dream I've had since childhood that Indians scalped my family and I have to climb out a window and run barefoot through the woods endlessly until I wake up, or it could be from having been in an abusive marriage and never knowing if I would have to run for my life. But, at least I'm prepared. lol

Great episode, but just as a suggestion I think a more specific trigger warning would have been helpful before the Marion Parker story. Extremely disturbing, although a good story nevertheless.

Topic ideas: The Watcher House (of New Jersey, recently in the news because it was sold) Tibetan sky burials Michael Rockefeller and the cannibals (not a band, though it sounds like it)

My brother just passed away unexpectedly and I haven't been able to listen to music and as I'm driving in my car catching up on the podcast, this episode comes on. I can't tell you how much I needed to hear this. I have had a similar experience when I was much much younger of hands lifting me up. I am glad I am not alone and this gives me some peace for my brother. He was such an amazing person who would have loved your podcast. Thank you so much! ❤️ He flys his freak flag proudly from above now.
