Description

Maureen Kafkis is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, the Brain BS™ coach, and the host of The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast. When she learned that the average human brain has over 60,000 thoughts a day and that most of them are lies (Brain BS™) that cause needless suffering, she started to learn how to separate the fact from fiction in her mind and has never looked back. Maureen truly believes that living consciously, understanding how your brains work, and learning to feel your feelings are necessary for an empowering and fulfilling life. She brings her expertise and extensive knowledge to inspire people in the SB area and beyond to learn how to live consciously, tap into their personal power and become leaders in their community.

In a world where there is so much division and way too much focus on competition, the Brain BS™ Coach is promoting a conscious community and lifestyle built on leadership energy, collaboration, and mutual support. She is doing that because the power of the collective far exceeds anything that can be done at the individual level and it’s just way more fun! If we all consciously collaborate with one another and succeed together we can have a substantial ripple effect that will extend far beyond our local community. Listen and learn how you can add value to your own community!

Introduction to the Brain BS Podcast.
This week on The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I speak with Kristina McKean about The Elephant Project in Thailand. We discuss her love for animals and how it inspired her to start this amazing project that has saved thousands of elephants and now cats and dogs as well. This is a thought provoking conversation that will hopefully deter you from riding elephants when you learn about what those poor animals have to endure at the hands of humans who want to break their spi...
In this episode I am speaking about contempt. I am sure you see evidence of it like I do when you look around the world and the way we are all interacting with one another in 2025. What you might not be aware of is that the way we treat one another stems from our subconscious programming and that we can actually change that if we are inspired. I share with you what I have learned about contempt in intimate relationships from author and therapist Terrence Real who wrote the book US. I al...

In this episode I speak with psychic, astrologer, and death mid-wife Beth Mc Donald about a subject that none of us are going to be able to avoid in this lifetime and that is dying. Often we think that is something to address at the end of our lives when we have become ill or had a tragic accident, but the truth is we should be preparing for death our entire lives. Listen to this episode and get inspired to work on your relationships and reprogram your subconscious programming, so you are set...
This week on The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I planned to do an episode called Going All-In. But it turns out I didn't have what it takes to make it happen. In this episode of The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I am speaking about how to build a solid foundation for setting healthy boundaries. There is a lot of information and suggestions for how to do this out there, but what they neglect to mention is all the pre-work that is necessary before you ever try to set a boundary. If you are a people-pleaser like I used to be and unable to make your needs a priority at times, you need to listen to this episode. When you learn to be hon...
This week on the Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I am doing an episode on how to deal with it when you don't get that invite that everybody else appears to have received. Let's be real, it's not a good feeling and nobody likes that to happen but it happens to all of us and we are all guilty of doing it to other people. So what's the best way to deal with it? I lay it all out in the episode and explain why we must tap into leadership energy when we are feeling excluded. I even t...
This week on The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I am speaking with resilience coach and published author Elizabeth Morse. Liz and I talk about how powerful our subconscious programming is and why we need to address that too instead of just making our mindset the primary focus. In this episode you will discover just how much of an impact our internalized beliefs have over us-especially if we have been squashing them down for decades. They literally create whatever it is we expe...
In this episode I discuss how I decided who I wanted to support this year in the SB community. I talk about some of the things that held me back in the past and why now is the perfect time for me to move froward with The Horse Project and The Unity Shoppe. I hope by sharing my perspective with you about the importance of "volunteering", you will come to the same conclusion I did... It's really non-negotiable! With the way things are playing out in DC and the current state of the world, ...
This week on The Power of Community & Collaboration Podcast I am speaking with Martha Varela who is the Executive Director of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) California Chapter.
