In today’s powerful and vulnerable conversation, Drs. Zach & Tim Clinton sit down with Joshua Broome to briefly unpack his incredible testimony which includes a journey from being one of the most recognizable faces in the adult film industry to finding true identity, healing, and purpose in Jesus Christ. Together they discuss the devastating effects of pornography and sexual compulsivity/addiction on individuals, relationships, and our culture at large. Joshua shares not only his story but also his passion to help others break free from the chains that once held him captive. This is why in today’s conversation they announce the launch of a brand-new initiative at the American Association of Christian Counselors titled: Walk Worthy. This is an initiative that Joshua will lead moving forward geared toward equipping the church and Christian counselors with resources, training, and discipleship strategies aimed at helping men and women pursue sexual purity, integrity, and deep spiritual formation. In this powerful episode of the Built Different Podcast, Dr. Zach Clinton sits down with father-and-son evangelists Cliffe and Stuart Knechtle, the voices behind Give Me an Answer and leaders at Grace Community Church in New Canaan, Connecticut. Cliffe, Senior Pastor and founder of Give Me an Answer, has spent decades engaging skeptics and truth-seekers on college campuses across the nation, from Harvard and Yale to Stanford and UCLA. With a background from Davidson College and Gordon-Conwell Seminary, Cliffe has dedicated his life to presenting the Gospel with boldness and clarity. Stuart, Assistant Pastor at Grace Community Church and co-host of Give Me an Answer, holds master’s degrees in Divinity and Mental Health/Marriage and Family from Gordon-Conwell. He partners with his father traveling to universities, leading family ministries, and offering Christian counseling, while also engaging in debates and online outreach. Together, we unpack their testimonies, their call to ministry, and the generational legacy of faith that God has written through their family. We discuss the growing hunger for holiness among young people, the influence of media on culture, the dangers of building life on fleeting feelings, and the hope of the Gospel in seasons of suffering. The Knechtles also share how to effectively share your faith and live out 1 Peter 3:15—“Always be prepared to give an answer…with gentleness and respect.” Finally, toward the end of today’s conversation, the gospel is so clearly presented and a prayer of salvation is offered to help you or someone you love take that first step in receiving the grace and forgiveness God so freely gives to become a child of The King! If you pray that prayer to receive Christ for the first time, or maybe to recommit your life to Him during this episode, know that all of heaven rejoices over you as a son or daughter of God. If that decision is made, we encourage you to share it with a pastor or trusted friend, get connected to a local church community, dive into God’s Word, and allow the Holy Spirit to shape your journey of spiritual formation.   🔗 Links: Give Me an Answer: https://youtube.com/@givemeananswer?si=5DBw2E-eIfpJl94G Grace Community Church (New Canaan, CT): https://www.gracecommunity.info/who-we-are Meet Cliffe & Stuart: givemeananswer.org/meet-cliffe-stuart Follow Stuart on Social Media: https://www.instagram.com/stuart_knechtle?igsh=Z3ppa25jd2N4NXo2 Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
She broke records. She earned the accolades. She defied the odds. And she’s just getting started! But Izzie Smulik’s story isn’t just about soccer…it’s about rising through adversity with grit, grace, and an unshakable faith in God’s plan. In this inspiring episode, Dr. ZachClinton sits down with his second cousin, Izzie Smulik, a standout high school soccer star from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA. In just three years, Izzie became the school’s all-time leading scorer and points leader — for both boys and girls — earning titles like 1st Team All-State, ODP Regional Player, and most recently, a spot on a semi-pro team out of Charlottesville. But Izzie’s journey hasn’t been easy. From growing up with ADHD and dyslexia to being told she’d never play D1 soccer or graduate early, she’s overcome it all with the support of her family, her faith, and the game she loves. In this conversation, Zach and Izzie unpack: her recent invitation to compete with the Capelli Sports North American team in Denmark this week, her excitement about signing a full-ride to Liberty University Women’s Soccer, how soccer became a steadying force and a source of purpose, what it means to persevere with character through adversity, and the role of faith, family, and fierce determination in her growth every step of the way. If you’ve ever felt underestimated, overlooked, or unsure of what’s next, Izzie’s story will remind you that with faith and fight, “impossible” just becomes the new starting line.  📲 Follow & Support Izzie’s Journey Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ismulik16/  Liberty Women’s Soccer Team: https://libertyflames.com/sports/womens-soccer  Capelli North America Girls Team: https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/capelli-sport-north-america-girls-roster_aid54774  Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
What if magic wasn’t just smoke and mirrors, but a doorway into deeper faith? What if curiosity wasn’t something to outgrow, but something to reclaim — even in your walk with Jesus? In this episode, we explore the intersection of illusion, inquiry, and intimacy with God, and how wonder may be one of the most powerful evangelistic tools we’ve overlooked. In this unforgettable conversation, Dr. Zach Clinton and guest co-host Joshua Broome sit down with Drew Worsham, an acclaimed illusionist, author, and pastor who has spent over 20 years integrating magic and ministry in a way that captivates audiences and points them to Christ. Together, they dive into: how illusions can reveal truth rather than distract from it; the power of childlike faith and spiritual curiosity; why Jesus was the most curious person to walk the earth and how that shaped His relationships; how wonder, empathy, and questioning can deepen our relationship with God and others; practical ways to rekindle awe in an age of cynicism; and Drew’s new book, The Magic of Curiosity, and his heart behind it. Whether you’re a skeptic, seeker, or seasoned believer, this episode will challenge your assumptions and reignite your awe. Are you tired of living life scared or following the status quo? Maybe it’s time we remembered what it felt like to believe in ourselves before the world told us who we should be and what we should do. In today’s conversation, we will explore the chasm between the dreams we once had and the reality in which we are now living. Speaking from personal experience, renowned speaker, best-selling author, and today’s guest, Dr. Heather Thompson Day dives deep into her newest book titled, What If I’m Wrong?, to help us better understand what makes us feel overwhelmed or defeated by the hopes we once had, the disappointments we should have overcome, the goals we expected to accomplish, and the person we wanted to be. Somehow and somewhere along the way, we stopped following our heart and started listening to the lies in our head: It’s time you gave up on that childish dream. What makes you think you could accomplish that? Others see who you really are, so stop trying to be someone else. So we decided to play it safe and just accept our lot in life. And instead of feeling alive every day, we walk through our days numb and uninspired. But today’s conversation will help you understand that pursuing a painless passion means you have an insignificant dream, living a “normal” life is scarier than taking risks and embracing the unknown, being vulnerable and admitting mistakes can lead to success quicker, embracing failure might be the best thing that ever happens to you, staying motivated and confident when things go wrong gets easier with practice, and the person God made you to be is waiting to live life to the fullest! As Dr. Heather says, “Have you ever considered that the hardest things in life might be our greatest areas of passion, through which we find fulfillment in everything we do, from work to play to relationships to our faith? Fears and failures come upon us like relentless waves, pulling us to deeper water. Panicked, we believe we are going to drown. But what if we’re wrong? Maybe God is teaching us how to swim stronger, to pursue greater adventures, and to learn how to really live!”  Find Out More About Dr. Heather: https://www.heatherthompsonday.com/  Purchase Your Copy of What If I’m Wrong?: https://www.amazon.com/What-If-Im-Wrong-Navigating/dp/1400341574  Link to Cross Communication: https://www.crosscommunication.com/  Check out Dr. Heather’s ‘What If I’m Wrong Podcast’: https://www.heatherthompsonday.com/podcast  Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
There’s no question that loneliness has become a global epidemic and is now being recognized as the invisible illness of our day and age. And the sad reality is that it’s always the undiagnosed illnesses that are the most dangerous and deadly. Dr. Mark Mayfield defines loneliness as: “The state of being unseen or unnoticed—relationally, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. It’s marked by a deep sense of hopelessness.”  And loneliness is more than just a feeling. It’s a disease pathway, meaning as loneliness increases, so do levels of anxiety, depression, substance use, and even suicide risk. According to a Cigna survey of over 20,000 adults: 54% felt no one truly knew them, 43% said their relationships didn’t feel meaningful, and 36% said they didn’t feel like they had anyone to turn to. Again, that’s not just concerning—it’s a crisis. Because no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you've been through, you were designed to be connected. For this reason as we are nearing the end of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are bringing on a very special guest who is an expert in human connection and leadership - Jordan Montgomery. Jordan is a USA Today bestselling author, renowned performance coach, and keynote speaker, trusted by elite business executives, sales teams, professional athletes, and entrepreneurs. Known for his dynamic presence and transformative insights, Jordan has shared the stage with countless luminaries such as Jon Gordon, John Maxwell, Angela Duckworth, and many others. Additionally, he and his wife, Ashley, lead Montgomery Companies, a powerhouse team of nationally recognized speakers and coaches. Whether in the boardroom or on the sports field, their team excels at helping leaders and teams reach peak performance. Their impressive client roster includes Fortune 500 companies like John Deere, Northwestern Mutual, and Principal Financial, as well as elite athletes, Olympians, and Super Bowl champions. Keisha Wright is a professional life coach from the Sunshine State of Florida, who like many others, spent her early years doing what she was “supposed” to do. She went to school, became a teacher, wife, and mother, and her life was seemingly normal, until it wasn’t. She went from working in the school system to raising a family and then, all of a sudden, she was faced with tragedy she didn’t know how to deal with. She then found herself in counseling and was told it was going to take 3-5 years to fully recover from her trauma. That’s when something within her changed. She thought to herself, “I can’t hang on that long, there must be a better way”. And in that moment of desperation, she remembers telling God “if you can get me out of this, I will dedicate the rest of my life to teaching others how to do the same.” That’s when she was blessed with meeting a woman who offered to help her overcome her trauma. Throughout her healing journey this friend/coach taught Keisha the way forward and as she began doing the work, she ended up developing the foundations of the Emotional Recovery Clinic. Once healed, Keisha spent the next 12 years volunteering her time to help others recover, as well as establish her own practice, Women’s Recovery Clinic.  She spent her time traveling across the country teaching both women and men how to heal their trauma. Now, Keisha continues to uphold that same vision and mission as she jumps into life with others when their going gets tough and everything seems to be falling apart. Like her friend/coach did for her, she walks this journey of recovery with people until it becomes their new normal. Her purpose is clear: to teach you the way out, as none of us are born knowing how to put our lives back together. I’ve heard it said that for people who are suicidal, it isn’t that they hate life, it’s that they hate life the way that it is. It’s not even about wanting to end their life, it’s about wanting to end their pain. But sadly, so many find themselves slipping to the point of brokenness where it seems so difficult or at times impossible to see an opportunity for change or a brighter tomorrow. Today’s guest has a similar story of  wanting the pain to stop in his own life! After a difficult upbringing and some challenging moments in his own personal life, Casey Temple, found himself pulling the trigger with every intention of ending his life. BUT GOD had different plans! Rather escaping the pain, Jesus brought him purpose, hope, and healing in the midst of it! Through Recovery Alive, a revolutionary church-based response to human brokenness, rooted in the power, people, and process of the Christ-centered 12 steps, Casey found the freedom he always longed for! Now getting to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of Recovery Alive, Casey can say with complete confidence that God has radically transformed his life, addictions, and testimony. We are excited to share his journey with you, with the hope that it will be a steadfast reminder to you that it is NEVER too late, and there is ALWAYS hope!   Find Out More About Recovery Alive: https://www.recoveryalive.com Hear More of Casey’s Testimony: https://www.youtube.com/live/N0oaZbPCsxk?si=YCgHjNUkXnRIGw5G Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
In the words of today’s guest, none other than President & Chief Visionary Officer of Proverbs 31 Ministries, Renowned Speaker, & Best-Selling Author, Lysa Terkeurst, “The last several years have been the hardest of my life. I know the depths of marital heartbreak, and what it feels like to wrestle through healing. I also know what it feels like to be diagnosed with cancer and to wonder why God would allow so much heartbreak. My pillow has seen its fair share of tears. But I’ve also seen God move in astounding ways… not always the ways I thought He would, but I guess that’s why we are called to follow Him with faith. And at the end of each day, that’s what you’ll find me doing — going to bed while saying thankful prayers for ways I once again experienced God’s faithfulness that day, big and small. I wish with every fiber of my heart that I could erase parts of my story. But staying stuck in trying to wish something away will cause me to miss the beauty of what is… and even better… trusting God for what can be.” We hope and pray that today’s conversation would help you navigate the pain of betrayal while clinging to the hope of the gospel. Although not easy - forgiveness, boundaries, and trust are skills that can be learned and developed again!    Lysa’s website: https://lysaterkeurst.com/  Proverbs31: https://proverbs31.org/  Christian Care Connect: https://christiancareconnect.com/  Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.
Today’s episode is different. It’s raw. It’s real. And honestly — it’s probably one of the most vulnerable conversations we’ve ever had on this show. Because our guest is Carl Lentz. Maybe you’ve already formed opinions. Maybe the first thing that comes to mind is scandal, failure, or church hurt. I get that. But what you’ll hear today isn’t a defense. It’s not image rehab. It’s not hype or spin. It’s a man who hit rock bottom — spiritually, emotionally, relationally — and lived to tell the story. Carl doesn’t sugarcoat the pain. He talks about the darkness that followed his fall. The shame. The wreckage. The long, hard work of rebuilding not a brand, but a soul. And not on a stage — but in the quiet, often brutal daily battle of showing up and doing the next right thing. He talks about godly sorrow, not just regret. About reverence, not image. About waking up every day and saying, “I can’t change the past, but I can let God change me.” You’ll hear about marriage, redemption, identity, fatherhood, faith, and the fight to become someone new when the old you has already burned to the ground. So if you’ve ever thought failure disqualifies you from the love of God, that it’s too late, too far gone, to broken to find your way back home – I want you to lean in. Because this isn’t a comeback story. This is a resurrection story. And our hope and prayer is that you would be reminded in and through this episode that you could never outsin God’s grace or outrun His love! If you've ever felt like your past disqualifies you, or that your darkest day is the end of your story, I pray this episode shows you otherwise. Because again, this conversation isn’t about cleaning up your image. It’s about owning your story — and letting God do something redemptive with even the most broken pieces.
