Description
In 2020, during a global pandemic, lifelong friends Allan Cogan and Grant Brown decided to finally start the podcast they had always wanted to host. The goal was to make a quality product with consistent content, with the original idea being "conversations with a glass of whiskey". Allan and Grant love discussing the nuances of political issues, but they found themselves severely burned out and spinning their wheels on other ideas. After a few politically benign episodes covering Army Officer school, Star Wars, and whiskey itself -it became clear direction and structure was needed.
This podcast and its 69 episodes is something we are immensely proud of. Enjoy this archive of our content, but please know that "The Cogan Conversation" lives on in a different feed. We hope to see you there!!

Our 69th episode.. nice. We've decided its time to take a knee, regroup, reflect, and determine what is the best path forward for this platform. We aren't going away, but we are looking towards a rebrand and relaunch with something better. #thecoganconvo visit us at www.thecoganconvo.com

Yeah… we’re diving into this conversation. Full disclosure, we aren’t big fans of The Daily Wire but most honest critics of this controversial documentary have found value in the information unearthed by conservative commentator Matt Walsh. To best serve both the Trans community AND the entire community as a whole, we can’t shy away from addressing issues raised by those who may appear to be an “enemy”. Grant and I have lots of questions and hesitations surrounding the transgender debate. Should children be subjected to puberty blockers? Should trans-women compete with biological women in sporting events? Discussions breed solutions, and I wanted to sit down and digest this documentary and springboard into an honest conversation of where we are on Transgender topics and rights. We are aware of some of the digital noises in the audio, along with some unflattering clicking. We did our best to clean it up and luckily the voice audio is largely unaffected. Having finished their roller-coaster viewing of the Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, Allan and Grant are rejoined by mega-fan Dan Sponder to conclude their discussion and provide their final thoughts. A full-auto display of great ideas, or a cinematic abortion committed to the TV screen? This decision is where it belongs, the fans, who get it right every time.If you enjoy this part and missed the first, be sure to go back and check out part 1!MERCH ON SALE HERE: https://www.thecoganconvo.com/general...Support our Patreon for EARLY ACCESS: https://www.patreon.com/thecoganconvoFollow Us on Social:Facebook: facebook.com/TheCoganConvoTwitter: twitter.com/TheCoganConvoInstagram: instagram.com/thecoganconvo#obiwan #starwars #podcast
In this episode Allan and Grant take a step back from politics (or do they) and are joined by Cogan Convo favorite guest and good friend Dan Sponder to talk about the first four episodes of the new Disney Plus Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Opinions vary wildly from absolute hate to pure fan bliss, a divide seen across the Star Wars fanbase far and wide since the series premiere. With only two episodes left can the various plot threads be tied together into a satisfying conclusion and bring even the harshest critics back from the brink? Tune in to hear our various toxic gripes and baseless predictions! If you enjoy this part, be sure to tune back for part 2 on June 27th to hear our reactions to the final two episodes. Will our opinions be swayed? Find out then!If you want early access to these unedited videos, be sure to head over to our Patreon and subscribe for as little as $2 a month to have access! With the recently leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision, there signaled the court's intention to overturn one of the most landmark decisions of the last century: Roe v. Wade. This decision, effectively enshrining abortion rights for all women across the country, has been under fire and hotly debated since it was handed down. If overturned, many states have laws in place that would effectively make abortion outlawed, whereas other states would be unaffected having enshrined those same rights for women in their own State Constitutions. Why, after 50+ years of debate, does the topic of abortion remain one of the most divisive issues across the political, cultural, and social landscape? Aside from the political divide, and what exactly the highest court of our land should and should not be deciding, where do the legal definitions end, and where does the philosophy begin? What constitutes a life, and who exactly is allowed to set that objective moral principle around an issue that is entirely personal? What does it mean to make that decision, especially since so often the person most affected is never the one who gets to make it?Listen as all of this and more is discussed by the exact people you don't want to hear talk about this issue. That's right baby it's time for the lads at The Cogan Conversation to put on their pair of gloves and examine all the ins and outs of abortion rights! If you want early access to these unedited videos, be sure to head over to our Patreon and subscribe for as little as $2 a month to have access! As global tensions continue to rise surrounding Russia and Ukraine, Yemen, Taliban control of Afghanistan, China's increased human rights violations, and North Korean missile testing... one awful outcome is becoming more and more possible. Are we closer than ever to a Nuclear War? If so, what would it look like and how would the US respond? Weapons of this caliber haven't been used since 1945 against Japan, and the world unanimously agreed that their employment is a step to far in even the most contested wars. The Cold War seemed to signal Soviet willingness to use them, and now Iran and North Korea are knocking on the door of Nuclear capabilities. Crazed despots like Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin make the possibility of Nuclear Warfare seem imminent. Join us over a glass of whiskey as we discuss all the possibilities and make sense of an alarming threat. Join us as we broadcast live from the first ever bomb shelter/podcast studio!Cheers! Division. Anger. Partisanship. Lies. Distrust. Is our American experiment being pushed towards yet another breaking point? Is some type of social unrest or violent outcome inevitable and what would that look like in today's age? Could this be a "Cold" Civil War and nothing more than a competition of ideas and thought shaping culture, or is the increase in politically violent rhetoric leading us towards another handshake at Appomattox Courthouse? Is this the next civil war? And will it be our last? Thank you for listening to the conclusion of our biggest conversation yet! Stay tuned next month for our discussion on Nuclear War. While we’re going to discuss the 2020 presidential election as the foundation for this conversation on election integrity, we are more so interested in looking at ideas and solutions to help repair the distrust that exists with our modern elections. Are there ways to ensure our most sacred democratic process remains impartial and secure from fraud? More importantly, are there solutions and updates we all can agree on without making election reform and accountability partisan? All of this and more in Part 2 of our discussion, and if you haven't yet be sure to catch up with Part 1!During this episode we enjoyed a glass of Big Peat Islay Blended Malt Whisky.Cheers!WHISKEY MERCH ON SALE HERE: https://www.thecoganconvo.com/generalstoreSupport our Patreon for EARLY ACCESS: https://www.patreon.com/thecoganconvoFollow Us on Social:Facebook: www.facebook.com/TheCoganConvoTwitter: twitter.com/TheCoganConvoInstagram: www.instagram.com/thecoganconvoLinkedin: linkedin.com/company/the-cogan-conversation#whiskey #podcast #electionfraud

In our previous episode, we discussed The Panjwai and Boardwalk Podcasts' views on what led up to the chaotic Afghanistan evacuation and their perspective on the how and why of everything from accountability to strategic misfires. One thing we still wanted to know was if these last 20 years were a waste, or if there are glimmers of hope we can hold onto. However, this now begs the question on U.S. intervention in the first place. What are the ethics or obligations surrounding our nation’s foreign involvement? In this continued discussion with the amazing veterans behind both The Panjwai Podcast and The Boardwalk Podcast, we’ll branch off from focusing on Afghanistan and asking this bigger picture question.Celebrate the 50th episode of The Cogan Conversation! If you haven't already, be sure to catch up with Part 1 on this discussion for October.During this episode we enjoyed a glass of Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19yo Scotch Whisky.Cheers!
