In 2006, a construction crew in Saskatoon unearthed a barrel hidden in an abandoned well, containing the preserved remains of a young woman murdered a century earlier.
For nearly twenty years she was known only as The Woman in the Well, as police tried facial reconstructions, DNA testing, and countless appeals for clues.
With the help of investigative genetic genealogy, her identity has finally been revealed: Alice Spence, a seamstress, wife, and mother.
This episode of Canadian Gothic traces Alice’s life, her erasure, and the modern science that brought her back into memory.

In July 1996, Blair Adams left his home in Surrey, British Columbia, convinced someone was trying to kill him. Over the course of just a few days, he emptied his savings and safety deposit box, attempted to cross the U.S. border multiple times, and made a frantic, illogical journey that ultimately led him to Knoxville, Tennessee — a city where he had no known ties.
There, his body was discovered in a construction site parking lot under bizarre circumstances: his pants had been forcibly removed, his socks were turned inside out, and thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, and jewelry were scattered around him, untouched.
In this episode, we retrace Blair’s final days, follow his chaotic path across borders and states, and examine the theories surrounding one of the strangest unsolved mysteries of the 1990s. Was Blair fleeing someone real — or something only he believed in?

On August 9, 1975, 20-year-old Jane Smith vanished from her Sudbury apartment without a trace. Fifty years later, her family is still living with the pain of not knowing what happened.
In this episode, I speak with two people at the center of this decades-old mystery: Jane’s younger brother, John Smith, and his daughter, Katie.
John shares what it was like to lose his sister and how her disappearance has shaped his family’s lives over the past half-century.
Katie, who never met her aunt, has taken on a different role... part investigator, part advocate... working to keep Jane’s story alive and urging anyone who knows the truth to come forward before it’s too late.

In this episode we catch up with the strange saga of Romana Didulo, the self-proclaimed “Queen of Canada.”
In previous episodes, we’ve traced her bizarre rise from a Victoria, BC boarding house to her group’s nearly two year long occupation of an abandoned school in the tiny community of Richmound, Saskatchewan.
Despite countless efforts to remove them, form the village of just over 100 residents nothing worked—until now.
This past week brought a game-changing turn: not only was the group forced out of the school, but Romana Didulo and the building’s owner both found themselves behind bars.
To unpack these developments, Tom from OwlNews.ca will join us as we discuss the arrest, release, and rearrest of “Queen” Romana Didulo.

Ten years ago today the first episode of Nighttime was released, telling the story of a UFO sighting over Cape Breton Island.
In the decade since, Nighttime has produced over a thousand episodes, covered stories from nearly every corner of the country, been heard around the world, but… it’s also begun to show it’s age.
As Nighttime toiled away podcasting has changed dramatically; the rise of celebrity-hosted shows, podcasts as video, the rise and fall of countless platforms, and many other factors which have reshaped the medium and led to Nighttime feeling like the product of a by-gone era.
Ten years after it started, It’s time to say good night to Nighttime!
but this isn’t a goodbye
Its hosts, its contributors, its active series (like Keep Canada Weird) aren’t going anywhere.
The podcast feeds, the social media pages, and related landing pads will be updated to serve as home for a new show that will be similar in style and spirit, but better equipped to tell Canada’s most fascinating stories for the next decade and beyond.
the next chapter is… the Canadian Gothic

In this episode, we unravel the story behind a recent high-risk offender release notice issued by the Nova Scotia RCMP.
The notice revealed that Douglas Worth, a man convicted of the brutal 1987 rape, murder, and decapitation of 12-year-old Trina Campbell in Ontario, has been released from custody and is now living in Nova Scotia.
We unpack the details of Worth’s horrific crime, the investigation that brought him to justice, and the complex questions his release raises about community safety and the Canadian parole system.

Honestly the new name doesn’t pack the punch this show needs. What is Gothic about being Canadian? On the flip side the show is worth a gander. I recommend the story of Lindsay Souvannarath to start. I’ll keep listening but it’ll always be Night Time in my heart. 🌚🥀
it's bittersweet, but I'm sure it will be great. nighttime has been a favorite for 7 years. I can't wait to see what's next!
The recording is a mess..I couldn't hear any part of the story they kept playing
I think the kids overdosed on something the parents left out and the parents disposed of them somewhere else. That's my opinion. May God wrap his arms and live around these two beautiful children ❤️
regarding scams listen to True Crime Reports from AlJazeera they reported on scam trafficking where there are these huge compounds in Cambodia etc.....who traffic humans to scam people and are abusive if they don't hit a certain limit each day or try to escape. the key would be to break those up somehow.
Oh man, I totally LOVE me some Jack Luna and Dark Topic. Fantastic stuff.
What the hell are you talking about "good weird" and "bad weird"? Are you saying people who like Joe Rogan are "bad weird"? Jesus, I hope that's not what you meant. I loved this show. And big surprise, I'm a fan of Joe Rogan. Don't make me choose. Don't be "bad weird" dude. Oh wait, you're Canadian. 😔
Jordan is really a bone apart. ☺ I'll see myself out......
I play monopoly go 😂🤣

Congratulations Mrs. Madelanye!
this Paul guy is an idiot. He is one of these old blowhards that think that their opinion reigns supreme. That it's the only way to think, and there's no room for a different way of thinking. He doesn't speak for everyone. That's why an opinion is an opinion. And in my opinion he's an idiot!

In my opinion you are not better then the guy who filmed. You said "you can watch it on the internet ". really? you are steering the pot even more, giving him even more fame??? sick
Lol, a roley poley is a pillbug, I do believe. The ones that roll into a ball.
did not help my opinion of clowns lol
nuts!
so nature boy, who only eats fruits, doesn't use deodorant etc, hates bugs? loves Facebook live? what a joke.
Such a terrible story. A beautiful young life, just gone. It sounds terrible to admit, but I do like the darker direction of this Nighttime podcast series. I think we need to shine a light into the darker areas of life..... and death.
Holy shit I met thus Hedderson guy on fetlife and we started flirting
