Ben sits down with co-owner and CEO of one of our favorite local breweries to recently hit the craft beer scene, 16 Lots.    Mike shares how 16 Lots grew from a small idea into a thriving, community-driven brewery in the northern suburbs of Cincinnati. Tune in as we discuss the ins and outs of the first few years including the importance of branding and the decision to begin and roll-out package sales.
This week Ben sits down with the sales team at Dayton Beer Company. They're talking about the importance of quality control, adopting a bulldog mentality in sales, and the Wild West of distribution.  We're also discussing some exciting new projects on Dayton Beer Company's horizon.
We're knocking back some wine with one of our favorite sales reps, Andrew Mestler! Cutting Edge's portfolio is full of incredible Spanish whites and reds, so this week Andrew's taking Ben to Spanish wine school. They're talking grape varietals, the glamorous life of wine making, and Ben grapples with his inner urge to drop some ice cubes in that white.
This week we're sitting down with our Sales Rep from Melvin Brewing, Paul Heaverly, to talk about how Melvin's owner and founder went from brewing beer in a kitchen closet in the back of a thai food restaurant to a "Megachurch" of beer in Alpine, WY.  Ben learns a bit about US geography and rants about the miserable experience that is the Brut IPA.
We couldn't drive up to Cleveland and not drop by Fat Head's Beer Hall! Ben gets a bit starstruck as he talks recipe development, the importance of quality control and the evolution of Fat Head's Brewery with Master Brewer, Matt Cole.    This guy's the mastermind behind Head Hunter, Bumble Berry, and a number of of other phenomenal (and award winning) beers from one of our favorite breweries in the world.
Finally! Two people who know what we mean.  We're talking all about the retail side of things in craft beer with our friends and co-owners of Day'n's The Barrel House. This episode is packed with rants, tangents, and plenty of friendly ribbing - all while we promote an upcoming fundraiser benefiting Disaster Relief Efforts with The Dayton Foundation.
The Cappy's Cast hit the road and headed up to Cleveland for this week's episode. Ben's sitting down with Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Platform Beer Company, Paul Benner.    They're talking about culture building, the importance of giving voice to your team, the discomfort of rapid growth, and what a game of spin the bottle has to do with Platform's roots.
Long-time Cincinnati sports anchor, Ken Broo, spends the afternoon with us for this week's episode of The Cappy's Cast.  Ben and Ken talk wine nights, Bengals group therapy, the most beautiful college town in the world, and how Ken went from a hockey player to a Cincinnati sports broadcasting icon.
We recorded this one the day after Fourth of July and let's just be clear -- our voices are a little raspy, and our brains are a tad fried. We're making up words on this one as we stumble through this rough around the edges, but still entertaining, dive into the craft beer industry.  This week we're talking twitter, Hopslam, Ben's background in deer tagging, and Benny Two Meals' insatiable thirst for Dinner.
Listermann's GM, Jason Brewer, is chatting all things craft beer with Ben on this week's episode of The Cappy's Cast. We cover it all! Jason shares his journey from official floor mopper to general manager, talks about the importance of creativity and innovation in the alcohol industry, and even drops a teaser about some potential big news in Listermann's future.
We're sitting down this week with Patrick Straton, Fat Head's very own Head Bro of Hops!    Tune in for an episode with the "only brewery that actually owns us". We're talking Southwest Ohio's fascination with canned beer, the GABF Jinx, and Ben's favorite topic - Hop Juju!
If you've been to Cappy's you've probably met Bobby Parton. Long time Cappy's regular and champion of all things beer, wine, and brisket, we've been chomping at the bit to get Bobby on our podcast as a guest. Ben and Bobby sit down for an episode of The Cappy's Cast with a Beerded Pig twist.   We're talking wine and grilled cheese, beef ribs, Fiji, and some of the original heavy hitters in craft beer.
President of Ohio Eagle, Devyn Dugger is in the house this week, crackin' cans and talkin' both Craft and Anheuser-Busch with us.  Ben and Devyn go deep into the three tier system and offer up a new perspective on what it means to support local businesses.
Ian Pascoe from Vintage Wine Distributors is in the house this week talking all things vino with Ben on our patio. He's been one of our wine reps for years and has plenty of dirt to share, including his eyewitness account of the fabled Lagunitas Incident.  Ben and Ian cover wine regions, why champagne gets you drunk faster, the OG La Rosa's on Boudinot, and the Dad Bod phenomenon.
Nick Luciano from SweetWater joins us for this week's episode of The Cappy's Cast! They're talking marijuana inspired beers, sustainability, and the importance of email chains.    As always, this episode is packed with the typical Capodagli rant, a zillion tangents, and lots of laughter shared over a beer or three.
Al McKinney, long-time Cappy's customer and craft beer nerd, sits down with Ben on the patio over a couple snifters of Appervation.  For this episode they're talking Jackie O's, the secondary craft beer market, the woes of trading, and reliving their fuzzy memories of bottle shares past.
Ben and Jake talk Vive, Tropic Flare, and Braxton's plans to open a new location for their Barrel Program.    Tune in for this week's tangent-filled episode of The Cappy's Cast!
Maddy from Taft's Brewing Company sits down with Ben on Cappy's patio to talk Gavel Banger, Pendleton's Danger Wheel Competition, and how an 8th grade language arts teacher ends up in the craft beer industry. We're also plugging some exciting upcoming events including Saturday's monthly Holtman's donut pairing and our Pints and Pride fundraiser. Tune in for another episode of craft beer with plenty of tangents inbetween.
What do Salt Bae, Bob & Tom, and George Takei have in common? They're all fans of our Beer-O, Del Hall.    Del and Ben dive deep into the last forty six days of Del's beer fast. We talk history, Del's new celebrity status in the beer community, and the challenges and temptations he faced along the way.
We all knew Ben and Nick wouldn't be able to keep a conversation to just one hour! Ben and Nick sit down and crack some cans of Gamma Bomb fresh off the canning line for this extended episode of The Cappy's Cast. Knock back some cold ones and tune in for this frank and hilarious conversation about life, liberty and beer sales.
