Jon opens with this week’s diversity report with an article about a recent interview Brooklyn 99’s Andy Samberg had with Variety.   The cast then discusses chapters 12 and 13 of 'Mandalorian' as Joe and Gerardo explain the connection to Clone Wars and Rebels. FYI we get into SPOILERS.   The cast wraps with a thorough conversation on one of their all time favorite shows the Amazon Prime Original 'The Boys'.
The cast returns for episode 10 catching up on life and the new Miles Morales Spider-Man game.  We open with discussing the highlights from part 1 of the UCLA diversity report.  Joe takes the lead on the newest season of ‘The Mandalorian’ and explains how the show resonates with casual viewers and dedicated Star Wars fanatics.  Jon explains his relationship with the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’, it being his favorite sitcom of all time and how he feels about a possible reboot.  The cast wraps the show with a review of Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ and Joe announces his upcoming podcast ‘Aged Narrative’.  For updates follow @castofcolor on Twitter and Instagram.

The Cast of Color is back for episode five with just the boys Jon and Joe. The cast discusses the first trailer that dropped for the sure to be sci-fi blockbuster film 'Dune' and Joe breaks down the stacked ensemble cast.   Jon has a moment discussing his clap back with online Instagram trolls that do not agree with the Academy's new diversity requirements for Best Picture nominations come 2024. The cast is joined by fellow diversity advocates Incluvie! Cathy Yee- CEO and founder of the film diversity organization, 'Incluvie' joins the cast along with software developer Mo Seck.   Cathy tells of her passion for diversity in the entertainment industry as an Asian-American woman and explains the long term hopes of what Incluvie can do for Film and TV for underrepresented groups. Jon is curious about how Cathy made the transition from biomedical engineering during her time at UCONN and USC to diversity in film.    Mo gives his personal anecdote on the black lives matter movement, the current march on Washington, and how being a black engineer can motivate other young people of color.   The cast joins Incluvie on paying homage to the passing of the King- Chadwick Boseman as Joe closes out with how the passing of the one and only Black Panther effected him.   Be sure to toss us a follow on Instagram and Twitter @castofcolor for updates. The cast has the honor of being joined by Alex Benjamin, an African-American/Korean actor & filmmaker and Shea Vanderpoort- Filipino-American film director/filmmaker/DP for the second episode of season two!   Shea tells his story of bouncing around the creative world from music in his early years, to his passion for comic books in college, to his experience working as a DP on Issa Rae's YouTube hit series 'Awkward Black Girl.'   Alex discusses his early work in independent action films, his unique experience being a mixed race actor in Hollywood, and is humble enough to tell us about his work in Jhene Aiko's 'Trip' (2017).   The cast listens to Alex and Shea's own thoughts on diversity in the ever changing film industry and how that inspired their collaborative work in their YouTube mini series 'Thor Buck$.'   Jon and Joe are more than impressed with Alex's Mortal Kombat commercial and the group ends the show with a short, but sweet film review on A24's 'Good Time.'   We also have a little change in the name of our social media handles. The Colored Cast is ready for their second season with brand new artwork. The cast opens with Jon Carter, Joe, and the boy Gerardo, one of the original cast mates.  Host Jon Carter takes the lead in discussing the planning and organization of a Black Lives Matter demonstration- Saturday, July 18th in downtown La Verne.   DC's catastrophic disaster of a film- Justice League (2017), is the primary topic of discussion as the cast vocalizes their own frustrations of the 2017 film as well as their hopes of The Snyder Cut (2021).   Knowledgeable comic book nerd and musician, Gerardo gives his take on the DC animated franchise, the many storylines DC could potentially use as films, and the DC titles available on HBO Max. Marcus talks about student life as a film minor at UCLA, his disagreement with Joe on “Birds of Prey”, as well as the devastation of hurricane Katrina and it’s relation to classism in Spike Lee’s HBO documentary “When the Leeves Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.” Marcus speaks of his respect for the Inglewood native rap-metal/activist group- Fever 333 and their stance on social injustices. Joe talks about his trip to the homie’s independent film festival in San Diego- James and Ally catch up with the cast for the first time this year and talk a little YG & Kehlani break up.
