Rick and Dave chat about the coolest tech they've enjoyed and are thankful for in 2020, with a few hopefully amusing diversions along the way. And bonus feature: It's a short show. We'll be back next week with the usual money-saving tips. You can talk to us at cheapskateshow@cbsinteractive.com.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On this week's show, we start with a listener question from Crystal Caldwell. She asks: "I have an Oculus quest that I purchased in December of 2019 and signed up using an Oculus account. Will I no longer be able to log in to the Oculus go after a certain time period and be forced to have a Facebook account?" Have your own question for us? You can send your questions and comments to: cheapskateshow@cbsinteractive.com.  On today's main event, we discussed TVs with CNET's very own TV expert, David Katzmaier. For more information about what we discussed, check out David's roundup of CNET's best TVs under $500: https://www.cnet.com/news/the-best-tvs-under-500-that-you-can-buy-right-now/ Finally, here is the OXO Brew Single Serve Dripper that Rick described in today's Best Under $20: https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Single-Coffee-Dripper-Auto-Drip/dp/B01ENK41Q6?tag=cheapskate08-20 Learn more about your ad choices. At the top of the show this week Rick has a big announcement: You can sign up for CNET deal alerts. Rick will be sending one great deal each day directly to your phone. You can sign up for texts online or by sending a text to 415-878-5803. We also called back to a topic we discussed on last week's show. Rick formally apologized to Dave for being wrong about Microsoft 365, the annual subscription plan for Office. It turns out that getting a full terabyte of cloud storage space for $70 per year (or 5 TB for $100) is actually a pretty amazing deal. Listen to last week's show for more details. In the main segment, we talked about how to save money and make the most of Prime Day, which is coming up in just a couple of weeks on Oct. 13. In fact, the first early bird Prime Day deals are already here. You can read about 5 ways to save on Prime Day, and be sure to check out the tools and browser extensions Dave talked about. Lastly, you can sign up for a free 30-day Amazon Prime trial if you've never had a Prime subscription before, or you can subscribe just for a month or two to get you through Prime Day and Black Friday. Finally, in our listener mail segment, Gregg Nicholas told us, "No way that I will ever sign up for Facebook, so I'm not getting an Oculus Quest 2." Strong words, so we discussed the fact that Facebook is now a required part of using the Quest 2 headset. What do you think about this issue? Tell us, or ask your own question by emailing the show at cheapskateshow@cbsinteractive.com.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
It's a packed show this week. We start the podcast by talking about the new Oculus Quest 2, a VR headset that could finally take virtual reality gaming mainstream. It has twice the resolution of the first version, is $100 cheaper, and you can preorder yours right now. We also talked to Raise CEO Jay Klauminzer about Slide, his new cashback service that earns you money whether you're making purchases online or in the real world. The main attraction this week: should you stop paying for Microsoft Office and use a free office suite instead? We discussed LibreOffice and WPS Office on the show, as well as the web version of Microsoft Office. Finally, if foggy glasses are your nemesis when you don your COVID-19 mask, check out our CNET article on anti-fog sprays for your eyeglasses.  Learn more about your ad choices. This week, we start the podcast with a conversation about Walmart Plus, a subscription service that might become your new alternative to Amazon Prime. Or not -- listen for our take on this new service. We also talk about free TV streaming -- thanks to Netflix and Pluto TV, there's more of it than ever before right now. Then it's on to the main event: Rick is excited about inexpensive portable projectors, such as this one that costs a mere $100. Dave is less enthused, and explains some of the reasons you might want to be careful before spending money on this kind of projector. Want to see what a projector suitable for your media room might look like? Check out CNET's roundup of the best projectors for 2020. Finally, Rick's Best Under $20 product this week is an LED light strip you can use to add voice-controlled illumination anywhere in your home.   Learn more about your ad choices. This week, we start the show with an admission from Rick: Mere days after dismissing the value of protective watch cases, Rick managed to break his Apple Watch. In the second segment, Rick is jazzed about digital photo frames and he wants the world to know about it. You can read an article Rick recently posted about an inexpensive photo frame, and also check out the photo frame app called Fotoo for your Android tablet we discussed as well.  Should you buy your movies or rent them? How cheap does a movie purchase need to be for you to pull the trigger? Dave discussed the difference in prices between buying and renting Bill & Ted Face the Music, and you can tell us what you think about all this by emailing the show at cheapskateshow@cbsinteractive.com.  Finally, our Best Under $20 this week was The Anchor, which you can find on Amazon for $12.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
This week, we started off the show by talking about how to play the game that's turning the internet upside down -- Microsoft Flight Simulator -- for $1.  We also talked about We Were Here, a great 2-player adventure game that Rick and Dave actually played. You can play We Were Here for free.  Finally, we go to the main event: Should you buy refurbished tech products? You can read about Rick's experience with refurbished AirPods Pro, and here is some advice on how to find good deals on refurbished Apple products.  We also discussed touchless soap dispensers under $20. Here is the soap dispenser that Rick referred to on the show.  Finally, just for fun, here is the Lonely Island semicolon song, and Weird Al Yankovic's grammar song, both of which we referred to during the show's intro.  Do you have a question or a comment for Rick and Dave?
