They also preview The Scottish Open this weekend, talk about why Rory McIlroy is continuing his media silence, discuss the ever ending amount of golf politics with the PGA, DP World Tour and LIV all. We hear from Austrian/American golfer Sepp Straka about the Ryder Cup and oh, Andrew regales with his driving range exploits and gets into an argument with Iain about Scandinavian golfer pronunciations Learn more about your ad choices. Out of the Shadows

Out of the Shadows

An eagerly-awaited serving of TCF as Eddie gets to tell us all about the Dunhill Links experience where he showed more than a few glimpses of what he can do and where he belongs. Partnered with Andy Murray and playing with some of Europe's finest, there were huge crowds, 18 birdies for Eddie and a sizeable contingent of dogs as well as Big Ron and Mad Gazza planning their Saturday night out. A good week was clearly had by all, but where does Eddie go from here? Add to this the news that Eddie was served with a court order and Iain fell over in a kitchen and you can imagine that it is quite the episode. Here they are, Andrew, Iain and Eddie reunited and ready to review the remarkable Ryder Cup at Bethpage, where the USA nearly achieved the comeback to beat all comebacks, but Europe held on to retain the trophy. The possible reasons why are examined as well as a discussion about the less than enjoyable atmosphere. And for clickbait purposes, there is a tale of NEAR-DEATH on the Long Island Expressway. Ryder Cup - Day One

Ryder Cup - Day One

2025-09-2627:54

A fleeting bonus episode of TCF as Eddie stays up to join Andrew and look back on day one of the Ryder Cup. It was a day where Europe dominated and remarkably both Scottie Scheffler nor Bryson Dechambeau returned null points for the USA. We did wait for our regular special guest to turn up, but sadly we're still waiting. There is, however, a brief cameo appearance from Ken Brown. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The final day of build-up to the Ryder Cup is over and Eddie returns to discuss the opening day's pairings, while also including the vital information that he has successfully hung up some pictures. Andrew takes us down memory lane to remember the feats of a less celebrated European Ryder Cup star and Eddie then gives us very specific predictions for the opening foursome session. This bonus episode is brought to you by DP WorldEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk Hosted on Acast. The long build-up to The Ryder Cup continues as Andrew and Iain convene at Bethpage - wearing very large headphones - to discuss any important matters and tell a man asking for directions where to go. Just not in the way that he expected. There its also a chat with the legendary caddy Billy Foster about his Ryder Cup memories. This bonus episode is brought to you by DP World. Hosted on Acast. On Tuesday at the Ryder Cup, Andrew is stuck on a plane getting angry about a situation which he is powerless to prevent, yet he is somehow soothed by a voice message from Laurie Canter confirming that, it is true, his mother was one of Pan's People. Eddie and Iain chat in a more focussed way about the build-up at Bethpage and after hearing from Luke Donald, Iain has a conversation with US captain Keegan Bradley. Andrew does make a cameo appearance to ask Eddie who he thinks might be the best European player of all time. This bonus episode is in association with DP World. Hosted on Acast. The Long Good Monday

The Chipping Forecast spans the globe at the start of Ryder Cup week, by which we mean that Andrew is not very fresh off a plane from Tokyo to Los Angeles, Iain is battling with the roads of Long Island and Eddie is barely coherent, since it's after 11pm in Oxfordshire. However, our Tour pro stays awake long enough to tell us that his form is actually pretty good despite what The Italian Challenge leaderboard says. We also hear from Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and are given the most startling revelation about a European Tour player in the history of both golf and pop music.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukCheck out: www.ping.comInsta: @thechippingforecastEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk Hosted on Acast. A Throw Too Far

A Throw Too Far

2025-09-1501:10:27

A logistically challenging episode with Andrew appearing between athletics sessions in Tokyo, Eddie still in Portugal and Iain recovering from a cold while trying to make his garden a barren, wildlife-free zone. Eddie talks about his poor form last week and offers contrition after recognising that he might have gone too far in his frustration. The three wonder if there has ever been a better active golfer as assistant captain than Alex Noren, while recapping the extraordinary finish to Charley Hull's latest LPGA win and applauding a win for Scottie Scheffler to end his three-week long victory drought. This podcast is brought to you by: www.petermillar.co.ukWith support from: www.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast Hosted on Acast. The longest ever episode of TCF - not a fact of which we are proud, so we strongly suggest that you think of it as two episodes squashed together and treat it as such, being happy just to have the extra content. The reason is that there is plenty to talk about: Rory's dramatic win at the Irish Open and the fan reactions - both good and bad - which it inspired. The beautiful, yet one-sided Walker Cup and musings on whether Great Britain and Ireland needs a bit of help. And Eddie's psychological state on his return to the Hotel Planner Tour this week in Portugal. But most of all, the pod is long because we spend quite some time waiting for the appearance of a guest who might not even turn up...Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukCheck out:www.ping.comEmail:tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram: @chippingforecast Hosted on Acast. This week Eddie has returned from the mountains, where he produced a performance that has inspired him to consider a major equipment change. There is also mulling over the Atlantic imbalance, whereby those who lose their cards on the PGA Tour have the opportunities to play some often terrible golf on the DP World Tour.Of course the European Ryder Cup team gets a mention and we hear from captain Luke Donald about his selection, where he has done little more than swapping Danish twins. All three decide it's probably best that Luke didn't go rogue and pick Peter Odemwingie.Be like Thriston...Visit: www.petermillar.co.uk Check out:www.ping.comSee Eddie in the clouds: @chippingforecast (Instagram)Email:tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk Hosted on Acast. Tommy's Triumph

Tommy's Triumph

2025-08-3001:23:46

And lo, did Tommy Fleetwood smite all of those unbelievers before him, winning the Tour Championship and with it ten million dollars. Andrew Eddie and Iain convene to discuss that, as well as Ryder Cup team selection, Eddie's new found peace at the Belfry (despite a missed cut), which golfer had his waxwork repurposed and news of some very disturbing breakfast choices. All that plus more in a bumper edition of the pod. Which is our way of putting a positive spin on the fact that this episode is just too long really. After the Gold Rush

After the Gold Rush

We are reduced to only two members of the TCF team and - whoever they may be - are left to discuss all the usual goings on in this crazy game we call golf. Scottie Scheffler's won a tournament, which is nice, and we wonder which will earn him more money this season - the prize money or the bonuses? And why do you need both? A more pertinent debate comes with discussing who might fill the two realistic places available for Europe's Ryder Cup team. Is Harry Hall in the frame to become the first Cornishman to play in the match? Will Marco Penge's late run be enough or are DP World Tour events just too minor? Is the late Dame Thora Hird a decent outside bet? There is also plenty of chat about LIV Golf; Jon Rahm takes the season bonus despite not winning a tournament, while one of Europe's finest ever golfers is left to contemplate sailing off into the sunset.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukHave a look at:www.ping.comInstagram:@chippingforecastEmail:tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk Hosted on Acast. In an endearingly self-deprecating description of this episode we would say that it's about twenty minutes longer than it needs to be. But there really is a lot to talk about with Eddie entertaining us all at Trump International and finding a top-10 finish on the main tour again. Yet even in finding form he still flirts with the darkness and is starting to cause some concern to Andrew, Iain and his many TCF followers / stalkers. There is also plenty of discussion of Tommy Fleetwood once again coming up short in Memphis and what he can change to get over the line. And there is no end of admiration for Justin Rose and his play-off win, with Iain suggesting there really is little that Rose can't do. Well, not really, it just felt like it to Eddie as he continued to beat himself up on the golf course despite a decent showing on the HotelPlanner Tour. The trio talk about his behaviour and form as well as the success of the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl where Japan took another women's major - this time through Miyu Yamashita - and Charley Hull provided most of the entertainment as well as a blunt assessment of a Welsh culinary delicacy.Check out the Icons range at: www.petermillar.co.ukPing i240 irons and much more at: www.ping.comemail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInsta: @chippingforecast Hosted on Acast. Lottie Woad and Ibiza

2025-07-2801:12:00

This week we celebrate the arrival of a new star in golf in Lottie Woad after her oh-so-impressive victory on her professional debut at the Women's Scottish Open. The trio also celebrate Eddie's safe return from Ibiza where TCF's touring pro survived backflips and a moderately fast boating expedition under the watchful eye of safety officer Laurie Canter. The trio look ahead to the AIG Women's Open at Porthcawl as well as Eddie's return to competition and question whether Andrew really does have a putting handicap of +5.1 or whether he just has aides knocking the ball into the hole for him. Eddie returns to the pod with a report on his recent tournament in Germany, his general health and his plans for the weeks ahead. He also brings his particular brand of thinking to an analysis of Scottie Scheffler's triumph at Portrush as well as the personality and motivation of the world number one with iain and Andrew wondering if he is actually good for the game. Scheffler, that is, not Eddie. We know he's good for it.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukwww.ping.comEmail: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.ukInstagram:@chippingforecast Hosted on Acast. An immediate, Sunday evening review of an Open Championship where Scottie Scheffler dominated, adding the Claret Jug to his collection and possibly enjoying it for a few minutes before moving on to other things. Andrew and Iain meet for the last time in the noisy media centre to discuss things and hear the thoughts of both Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. There is only minimal discussion of Eddie's 8th-place finish in Germany, but that - and so much more - will come in our weekly pod. "TCF...TCF...TCF..". Hosted on Acast. Saturday at The Open

2025-07-1930:281

Saturday night at The Open Championship: Andrew and Iain once again convene in the media centre to discuss the third round, wondering if anybody can stop Scottie Scheffler from winning his first Claret Jug and his fourth major, but more than that, they discuss whether he is actually exciting to watch or if his mastery of the game is actually quite dull. They ponder both that and the hero worship for Rory McIlroy while also hearing from Eddie out in Germany again, who managed to salvage his third round at the Hotel Planner Tour event with a storming finish before enjoying another large steak. Probably. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Halfway at The Open

Halfway at The Open

2025-07-1830:19

Friday night at The Open Championship and is this the time for Scottie Scheffler to claim the Claret Jug and his fourth major? Or can Matt Fitzpatrick add the Open to his US Open triumph? Or perhaps Brian Harman will do it again? And will Eddie notch up another top-10 in Germany in his comeback from injury? These and so many other questions are not really answered here as Andrew, Iain and - in some small way - Eddie combine to chat at the halfway stage of The Open Championship. Hosted on Acast.
