Description

The Coaching Clubhouse is a coaching and personal development podcast about making positive changes in life and work.

Hosted by executive leader and ICF-accredited coach Adrian Last, each episode features an informal and engaging conversation exploring the ideas, experiences and questions that can help us understand ourselves better and move forward.

Guests include coaches, leaders, entrepreneurs and people with interesting perspectives on personal growth, leadership, careers, mindset, confidence, resilience, habits, wellbeing and change.

Some episodes explore coaching techniques and what actually happens in coaching; others use a guest's own story as the starting point for a wider conversation about the challenges many of us experience in our careers and everyday lives.

Episodes are deliberately short - usually around 20–30 minutes - with practical ideas and questions you can take away and apply for yourself. And you'll find shorter 2-5 minute clips from each episode that take the key themes and turn them into bitesize 'Extra Shots'.

If you're interested in coaching, personal development, leadership or simply having better conversations about life and work, come and join us in The Coaching Clubhouse.

How do you stop drifting through life and become more intentional about the things that really matter? In this episode of The Coaching Clubhouse, Adrian Last talks to Kill Complacency author, entrepreneur and podcaster Marty Hofmann about discipline, accountability, habits and intentional living.Marty believes complacency isn't necessarily about being lazy or doing nothing. You can be incredibly busy, successful and ambitious — while still drifting away from your relationships, health, friendships or the other things that matter to you. They explore the difference between contentment and complacency, how to create better work-life balance, Marty's Seven Fs framework, why fun sometimes needs to be intentional, and how discipline becomes easier when a behaviour becomes part of your identity. From a coaching perspective, they also explore accountability, whether we can recognise our own blind spots, and what to do when we know something in our life needs to change.Marty's practical starting point is refreshingly simple: name it and track it.In this episode:00:00 Introduction01:13 What does complacency really look like?04:02 Providing for your family vs being present07:32 Complacency vs contentment: what's wrong with being comfortable?11:25 The Seven Fs: building a more balanced life14:37 Why fun needs to be intentional16:16 How to build discipline that lasts18:19 Accountability: why doing it alone is difficult21:40 How do you recognise when you're drifting?24:43 Where Marty still struggles with complacency26:31 Feeling stuck? After a career in sales, Chris Goldson thought he was pretty good at asking questions. Then he trained as a coach and realised something: he was really good at asking leading questions. In this clip, Chris and Adrian explore one of the fundamental shifts of coaching — letting go of the need to have the answer and instead using questions as a gift, giving someone else the space to think.Watch or listen to the full conversation with Chris Goldson in The Coaching Clubhouse.About The Coaching ClubhouseThe Coaching Clubhouse is a coaching and personal development podcast hosted by Adrian Last, featuring informal conversations about coaching, leadership, careers, mindset and making positive changes in life and work.Follow The Coaching Clubhouse so you don't miss future episodes. Great strategy. Great ideas. Great people. And then… a completely forgettable presentation.Chris Goldson has a brilliant way of describing his work: “I rescue brilliant people from being beige.”Here he explains why playing safe when the moment really matters can actually be the riskiest thing you can do — and why brilliant people need the confidence to stand out.Watch or listen to the full conversation with Chris Goldson in The Coaching Clubhouse.About The Coaching ClubhouseThe Coaching Clubhouse is a coaching and personal development podcast hosted by Adrian Last, featuring informal conversations about coaching, leadership, careers, mindset and making positive changes in life and work.Follow The Coaching Clubhouse so you don't miss future episodes. You don't have to go from avoiding public speaking to delivering a keynote overnight.Chris Goldson shares one deceptively simple coaching question: “What could you do?”Could you ask the question? Share the idea? Speak up in the meeting? Sometimes confidence starts not with a giant leap, but with identifying the next step you're prepared to take.Watch or listen to the full conversation with Chris Goldson in The Coaching Clubhouse.About The Coaching ClubhouseThe Coaching Clubhouse is a coaching and personal development podcast hosted by Adrian Last, featuring informal conversations about coaching, leadership, careers, mindset and making positive changes in life and work.Follow The Coaching Clubhouse so you don't miss future episodes. Sometimes a lack of confidence has very little to do with our actual ability. A bad presentation, something a boss once said — even an experience at school — can become a story we carry with us for years.Chris Goldson and Adrian Last explore how coaching can help us challenge those beliefs, take the next step and begin telling ourselves a different story.Watch or listen to the full conversation with Chris Goldson in The Coaching Clubhouse.About The Coaching ClubhouseThe Coaching Clubhouse is a coaching and personal development podcast hosted by Adrian Last, featuring informal conversations about coaching, leadership, careers, mindset and making positive changes in life and work.Follow The Coaching Clubhouse so you don't miss future episodes.
