Welcome to the Connect Faith Podcast where we explore the ripples that we cast!
We all desire to make a difference in this world and share God’s love with everyone but sometimes that feels hard to do. You have so many things on your plate already, wearing so many hats and sometimes you’ve felt that loving God and loving others just feels like a chore.
Have you ever had any of these questions:
As a follower of Jesus, what is your purpose?
What does it look like to practically love God and love others?
How do I practically love my neighbors?
What are my gifts? How do I find them and how do I use them?
Do you want to make a difference in this world but not sure how?
How do you share God’s love and light?
What can I do? I’m just one person?
What does it look like to be used by God?
Can God really use me to make a difference?
Do you ever feel like you're just going through the motions but want to see your faith impact others?
Can God really use me? You don’t know my past.
Jessica grew up wanting to encourage others and make a big difference in the world. As time passed, she often wondered, what can one person do? God taught her that he often uses us in small ways when we are willing, listening, willing to take steps of faith, and do what God is asking. Over the years, she learned that God has used her in so many little but powerful ways: as a missionary, a teacher, a mom, a friend, a listening ear, a wife, etc. If he can use her, he can use you!
Join us every Tuesday to learn practical tips on how to listen to God’s voice, take steps of obedience in faith, use your giftings where you’re at, encourage others and cause ripples of hope and light. You’ll hear practical ways to love your neighbors, let go of insecurities and fear, cast a ripple of hope and encouragement, and to share God’s love and light to those around us. Come listen to inspirational stories from people who have started with what they had and used it, while following God, to cause change. You’ll hear stories about how God used them and be inspired knowing God can and will use you to cast ripples as well.
You’ll walk away feeling encouraged and inspired to go deeper in your faith. To ask God, what are my loaves and fishes that you want to use to impact my community? You’ll grow deeper in your faith and realize God wants to use you where you’re at right now. NOT when you’re “perfect” or “have it all together”. You’ll be reminded that your walk with God is a journey of faith, hope, and trust.

Have you ever found yourself hiding God’s light? Do you love Jesus but you struggling to share about Him? You’re worried about what others might think of you. It may be unintentional but you don’t shine it as brightly as God is asking or intending. In today’s episode we are going to cover some common ways Jessica has hid God’s light in her own life. Looking over this list, can you relate at all to any of these? Luke 8:16: No one after lighting a lamp, covers it with a basket or puts it under a bed…. Ways I’ve hid God’s light inside of me: *Fear, worry control- unknown and how it will work out *Insecurities-who am I, what will people think *We forget the gift God has given us (who He is, what He has done, and the Holy Spirit He’s put inside). *comfort/complacency *faith is private- Your relationship might be but we are called to make disciples *Busyness *Choosing to rebel How often do you sit at God’s feet and thank Him for who He is and what He’s done? How often are you still, remembering He is God, and ask Him what your best next right step is? Luke 11:33 No one lights a lamp and puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see its light. How are you covering God’s light in your life? Did any of what Jessica mentioned ring true for you? What if as you trust God, follow him, and share who He is and what he’s done, you help bring freedom, hope, and healing to someone else’s life? You put God’s light on a lampstand so others can see it and are drawn to it. What would it look like in your life to stop hiding the light God has given you but boldly walking in what God is asking you? As we go through the Shine God’s Light Challenge, do you ever wonder how you as one person can really make a difference? Can you actually bring change? In today’s episode, I was able to interview Mariah. She is a homeschool mom who loves God and saw a need in her community. The need was Christmas gifts for a couple kids. God took her heart, what she did for those kids and has multiplied it. Now she has started a nonprofit called Operation Joy. Her non-profit now spreads God’s hope and light by providing Christmas gifts to more than 1700 kids at several different schools. On top of that, this non-profit now also helps families who have unexpected things come up like being laid off from a job which makes it challenging to pay bills. What a great example of seeing a need and shinning God’s light in her community. How are you shinning God’s light in your community today? Do you see a need that you can fill somewhere? Would you like to help Operation Joy provide gifts to children this christmas? https://shorturl.at/hlsM6 Instagram: @myownsweetchaos Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mariah.schwarz
What are practical and easy ways you can share God's love and light with others? In this episode, Jessica talks about 10 easy and tangible things you can do to help spread God's love and light to others around you. She talks about the importance of spending time with God and building that relationship Him because God is the source of a light and goodness. How can you spread His light when you aren't spending time with Him? As we spend time with God, through reading scripture, memorizing scripture, and prayer our natural response is gratitude. When we are thankful, our perspective changes. It also makes people say, "wow that's different" when you always choose gratitude and joy. As you do those things, you can now build into community. As you learn to live life with others, iron sharpening iron, you not only learn to love better, you have the opportunity to be authentic and real. All of these things help you Shine God's Light. Trust and Surrender Episode As we finished the series on God using you where you’re at with your gifts and talents, some of you may relate more to: I don’t know my purpose yet. I don’t know my gifts and talents yet. Or. I’m in a waiting period and I’m waiting on where God is leading me. I’m waiting for God to tell me my next step. You may be in a hard season or a season that feels impossible. What then??? In this episode, we talk about learning to truly trust God and surrender even in the waiting. Even in the hard spaces. When things are hard do you trust that God is good? Do you trust that he will work all things out for good even if it’s not in the timing we expect or hope for? Is your response, “Yeah but…” or trying to control all your surroundings? What is Faith? Actively Trusting and surrendering that God is good. That God can see the full picture and see things we can’t yet. Going through seasons of wait and hard make us more dependant on God. As we choose to have faith and trust and surrender to our good God, things inside our heart start to shift. Last week Jessica interviewed Brandon who had mentioned taking the next right step in front of him. As Jessica interviews Susan this week, you can clearly see God moving one step to the next one right in front of her. God calls each of us to certain things in different seasons. Susan and her husband felt God calling them to homeschool her three boys when they were little. Have you ever felt called to do something and as you step into it, more of it continues to open up? As Susan started to homeschool, she also used her love of travel and writing to write a book. This book brought amazing experiences for her boys and taught so many lessons. Susan mentioned God putting people in her path as she would take next steps. Who is in your path right now that you need to connect with? What opportunities is God putting in front of you that you never would have dreamed of pursuing otherwise? The book brought Susan opportunities to speak and taught her boys amazing skills. Those skills were then used later in life as they now all have jobs that require them to speak and teach. Susan’s youngest eventually got a job as an advocate helping women who have been sex trafficked. She was able to start volunteering with Waymakers. So many people have a heart to help those who are trafficked but what can one person do right? Susan reminds people that there are so many things they can do to help. People can become aware, get educated, and volunteer. You can know what to look for and how to help when you do come across it. Another easy and practical way to help is to provide restaurant gift cards for advocates. A HUGE thing people can do is pray. In this next section, we are focusing on ways God uses us and others to impact those in the Church. Have you ever considered what your life would be like if you and your children were made to be slaves because your grandfather was in the hospital and died? Not only that but as a slave you’re considered property instead of a human being. In this episode, Jessica interviews Brandon McNace about the journey God took him on to building Exodus 5:1. Have you ever wondered how God uses normal people to do big things? How often do you follow God into unknown and uncomfortable places? Have you ever worried about money or how God was going to provide for something He’s calling you into? This interview gives you insight into the journey God took Brandon on from not believing in God to becoming a pastor, and eventually helping to free Christian Slaves in Pakistan. Brandon started out in real estate until God got ahold of his life, then he became a pastor, and then an evangelist. One day he was hoping to preach while he was in when God shook things up a bit. Have you ever had God tell you something that feels crazy by someone else only to have it confirmed by someone else later? A woman came in and told him 3 very important things (later confirmed by a different woman): 1-Why are you scared about money? 2-You don’t spend enough time with Him 3-God has called you to Asia to set his people free If someone came up to you and said these things, would you be willing to go? Join us as we listen to the entire journey Brandon went on and what it looks like now to actually free people from slavery in Pakistan. Pakistan, slaves are considered property not people. Exodus 5:1 makes sure they have enough funds (about $250/person) to free families all at the same time. This ministry provides housing and food for 6 months (additional $50/person), a church home to be part of and they have a school for some of the kids. What are ways we can support this ministry? Prayer!!! Please please be praying Share the word Join their newsletter Donate Most importantly, ask God! “What do you want me doing with this time and talents you’ve given me? Where do you want me serving and where do you want me to help financially?” If you’d like to pray for, follow and support this ministry you can find Brandon at: Instagram: @brandon_mcnace Website: www.exodus51.org
Have you ever thought about your past experiences and the gifts and talents God has given you? Do you believe he uses all of it? In this episode, Jessica gets to interview Christine, the CEO and founder of Momspiration 412 and Eduplay Learning . Christine talks about how God used her desire as a child to play school, her education and experience as a teacher and the opportunity of parents with a need to become this amazing business she now has. Learning is all around us and Christine teaches you to enjoy the journey. Teaching parents to enjoy teaching and learning with their kids. She helps parents and children alike to truly have fun with learning. Christine helps parents take any lesson and provide fun, engaging, and hands-on learning opportunities. What do our children actually need? What do they actually need to be learning? Christine talks about getting our children involved and engaging with everything we do, especially cooking and being in the kitchen. As we allow our children to be more independent, it also encourages and builds their confidence. Cooking is one of the best ways to help teach our kids how to do that. Christine also touches on tips on how to love your kids well while they are home over the summer or out of routine of homeschooling. One of the biggest tips she gave was making sure you set aside time to really love on your kids and invest time into them. It doesn’t have to be long but it’s intentional. Another tip she mentions is giving your children choices. If you just say find something to do, that can feel very overwhelming but choices make them feel like they have a say and some power in what they can do. The phrase, “I’m bored” is actually not a bad thing by itself. Kids can come up with creative ideas and things to do. It can also stem from kids feeling overwhelmed with what they have so they shut down. One of the biggest roles we can have is being a parent. What does it look like to cast ripples of light in our families? How do we love our families and children well while pointing them to Jesus? As a parent, have you ever felt ill-equipped and wish you had tools to help you parent the best way you can? Do you wish you could parent differently than your parents did and not just yell at your kids? In this episode, Jessica interviews Angie who talks about her journey to learning to provide a more peaceful home for herself and her children. Through this process, God led her to start the parent toolbox as well as a podcast called Mom Essentials. One of the tips Angie talks about is being aware of how you respond to your kids and being aware of what you’re feeling as you’re interacting with your children. If you can be intentional about keeping your body and voice calm you can keep the entire situation calmer. Angie talks about the window of tolerance, high activation (fight or flight), and low activation (freeze mode). Another tip Angie gives is have family meetings so our kids are aware of what the week and each day looks like. That way you and the kids have clear expectations of what the day looks like and when they will get play time with mom. Angie provides a free 30 minute discovery call to see if her tools would be helpful for you which can be found under resources on her website. What were some of the things you loved doing as a child? What are some gifts God has given you? What are some hurdles you have had to overcome with your business? What does it look like to follow God’s direction in your business and have it based on biblical principles? In this episode, Jessica interviewed Sarah. Sarah is a copywriter turned business coach for Christian business owners, teaching them how to build a firm foundation in their business so they can make impact and income. It's her mission to empower Christian business owners to embrace their God-given identity so they can feel confident selling their offers without the sleaze. Sarah focuses on authentic content and unique marketing strategies that are built around the gifts and skills each individual has been blessed with. Jessica and Sarah were able to discuss her journey from a job she hated to writing content and eventually business coaching. God used all of her gifts, talents and things she enjoyed doing when she was younger to bring her to where she is now today. Sarah talks about how our business needs a good foundation and that needs to be based on biblical principles. “What would Jesus do but for marketing.” For many of us, business is our ministry. Ask God to guide your steps with your business instead of chasing all of the “shiny objects” and do business the way the world suggests. Part of that is learning to surrender and trust God. Some of that looks like slowing down and simplifying your business. website: sarahbeisel.com podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/faith-filled-business-biblical-marketing-authentic/id1632282365 contact: hello@sarahbeisel.com Free Biblical Marketing Blueprint: sarahbeisel.com/blueprint
Interview with Teri: Have you ever looked back at your last 5, 10, or 15 years and realized your life looked exactly like you expected? Most of us would say “Of Course Not!” In today’s episode, Jessica interviews Teri Johnson, the founder of Keeping It Personal, as she recounts how God has used her past experiences, her gifts and talents to help her start Keeping It Personal. Even jobs that feel pointless or small can be a stepping stone to something else. Ter was the mail girl but was also able to deliver mail to the CEO. She did the job of delivering mail with excellence and made everyone including the President and CEO feel known and important just by showing up consistently and asking how their day was going. Teri says “Bloom where you’re planted.” Show up. Be intentional. Love people well and do your work with excellence. God has you at this job, at this school, in this community right now for a purpose. One of the ways you “bloom where you’re planted” is as ask a question that Teri asks every Wednesday in her Refine community, “How can I bless your socks off in the next 30, 60, 90 days?” It is the heart of service. What can I do to put a smile on your face or connect you with someone. Business is all about solving a problem for your customers and having a heart to serve them well. When we truly show up to serve and be a blessing with no expectations or strings attached we cast those ripples of hope and light. This episode was a fun interview between Jessica, the Host, and Kristin who started The Course Creation Roadmap. Kristin talks about her journey going from her 9-5 job to using the gifts and talents God has given her as well as using her past experiences. Together, they touched on the difference between doing business for God vs doing business with God and how those are two different things. Doing business with God leading makes all the difference in the world especially when it is something you feel like God has asked you to do. Kristen continues to talk about doing business with God by touching on the need for Business Board meetings with your heavenly hosts (God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit). Two of the questions they touch on are: What is God’s manifestation for your Business and asking the Holy Spirit to guide your steps today. Some of the other tips that Kristin gives for new business owners is to trust yourself, making sure you’re foundation is built on the word of God and find a Christian Business mentor that can walk with you. Kristin has a free clarity journal for you: https://kristindronchi.pages.ontraport.net/dreamclarityjournal *If you join her email list, you will also be able to get access later to the questions she has for your heavenly board of directors. Have you ever wondered why it may not seem like you’re growing? What does it look like to be a faithful servant? In this episode, Jessica interviews Anna as she shares her story. She talks about how God has grown and transformed her using her gifts, talents, but also hard experiences and life.As we walk with God, Anna about how God wants to dive into some of the root issues and transform you through them. He wants to bring healing. Anna also shares the importance of being honest with God where you’re at and being faithful in that season as well. However, sometimes the growth and fruit from that transformation can take longer than we expect or hope. What does it look like to be a faithful steward of the gifts and talents he has given us? Anna then challenges you to offer what you have, gifts, talents, and past experiences back to God and ask him what He wants to do with it. Then from there she challenges that our growth will not only impact ripples of people but to look at the depth of generations it can impact. Do you realize the impact even your little choices can make on future generations?
Are you looking for ways to draw closer to God? Do you enjoy having honest converastions with God? Have you ever wondered if you’re actually hearing from God? How can you know if you’re hearing God or yourself? In this episode, Jessica interviews Megan Nilsen who is an author and Kingdom Life Coach. Megan talks about the journey God took her on to use her gifts, talents and past experiences that lead her to where she is now. God has used her gifts to love people, her deep faith, and past experience in counseling to provide wonderful guidance to Christian women who long to go deeper in their faith. Megan’s Kingdom Life Coaching helps you walk through some of those harder questions about faith, where God has you on your journey, and how to continue to grow deeper with God. She challenges the listeners to come to God with a humble posture of learning and desire to continue to grow. Our God is so loving and compassionate and he helps you continue to take those steps and learn to draw closer to him. One of those ways of learning and drawing near to God is learning to be honest with yourself and with God. In Megan’s newest book, Untangled Faith: How Honest Conversations with God Lead to Deeper Connection, Clarity, and Peace, Megan dives into what it looks like to draw closer to God by having real and honest conversations with Him. When we are open, real and honest with God, we invite Him into places in our lives that may not be easy or comfortable but takes us deeper in our faith and often reveals things about ourselves we may not have known were there. Sometimes we are willing to take those steps deeper but not sure if we are hearing God as we go on that journey. Am I hearing God or is it just my own brain? Megan also touches on that as she mentions a free resource to you that has questions to help you process through all of that. Check out Megan’s coaching: https://www.meganbnilsen.com/ Megan’s Book: https://www.amazon.com/Untangled-Faith-Conversations-Connection-Clarity/dp/1737370867/ref=sr_1_1?crid=28Z29ENWCPU2M&keywords=untangled+faith&qid=1687290161&sprefix=untangled+faith%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-1 Bookmark: https://megan-b-nilsen.ck.page/550a9035a5
Did you know God has uniquely gifted you? Do you know He has given you spiritual gifts? Do you know that God has given you talents and abilities to use to help build the church and community where you’re at RIGHT NOW? The season you’re in right now has a purpose. Did you know your story and past experiences can be powerful? Many have asked WHY am I going through this???? God has used past experiences to help others going through similar circumstances now to help walk through it with them. God not only knows you completely and loves you more than you’ll ever know, he has given you gifts and talents to help you share God’s love with others. In this episode, Jessica encourages you to ask God all of these questions first. After you've talked to God, Jessica talks about the SHAPE test which is a practical way for you to see the gifts and talents that God has given you to use right now. SHAPE: Spiritual Gifts Heart (things you’re passionate about) Personality Experiences Once you’ve spent time praying, asking God and then gained better insight from the SHAPE test, offer all of it back to God. Jessica had found her spiritual gifts were encouragement, faith, mercy and shepherding. She loved making people smile, blessing people with good gifts, and finding hidden gems at a great price. As she kept offering all of who she was to God, the idea of Ripple Boxes kept coming up. God is using Jessica’s gift, talents, abilities, and past experiences to help Christians spread hope and light in their communities. When you offer your gifts, talents and all of you to God he may ask you to do small things that cause ripples: give a hug to someone, pray for this friend, smile at a stranger, etc. It doesn’t need to be huge things but daily ask God what He wants you to do with everything He’s given you. Then, walk in obedience. Have you ever wondered if you’re enough? Have you ever been afraid that you don’t measure up? Have you questioned if you belonged? Have you ever worried if you didn’t feel like you did enough? Have you ever felt like your faith was just a checklist? Emily grew up trying to earn her approval, including with God, through success and accomplishments. If you’ve ever been there, you know how exhausting that can be. It can feel like a big weight that you carry around. Eventually Emily had a faith crisis and found that God truly loves us and calls us His child. As we learn who God is and how much He loves us, we feel safe. We come to realize that as His child, we do truly belong. We can then work from a motivation of love as a response to belonging to a loving God. Emily found she didn't have to be fake with God. He loved her completely. She felt she could have honest conversations with God and truly be real with where she was at knowing she was safe in his arms. Emily talked about how our view of God truly impacts every aspect of our life. If our view of God is a judging, disapproving God waiting for us to mess up, it's harder for us to completely understand how muche He truly loves us. Instead having a view of God as a good father that wants you to come sit with him and share how you’re actually doing. If you’re interested in diving deeper into who God is and who He says you are, join Emily’s 4 week course. She will help you with limiting beliefs and help you draw closer to God. Have you ever questioned your worth or value? Have you ever compared yourself to others or felt you weren’t “enough”? Do you care so much about what others think of you that you struggle to be yourself? Do you know and believe who God says you are? There are SOOO many things God says about us. He says we are united with him, we are appointed, part of the Body of Christ, called out of darkness and into light, temples of the Holy Spirit, bought at a price, fearfully and wonderfully made, and sooooo many others! In this episode, Jessica focuses on the promises we as Christians often forget or we know the promises in our head but rarely walk it out. She talks about our identity in Christ: that we are set free, we are forgiven, we are adopted children of God, beloved and blessed. Sometimes we focus so much on this world and all of the hats we wear that struggle to walk in who He says we are. Reflect this week: Do I actually believe His promises? Does this belief impact the way I live my life? Do I live with the assured hope that I’m free, forgiven, adopted, beloved, blessed and called to be a light to others? 10 tips to love your neighbor: Have you ever had that neighbor that just drives you crazy or a co-worker that you have a hard time working with? Have you ever complained about any of your neighbors? What does it look like to actually love your neighbors? In this Episode, Jessica gives 10 tips on how to love your neighbor better. The biggest thing to remember is they are people just like any other person and relationships take time. They are still created in God’ image even if you disagree with them. Some of these tips will be easy. For example, learn your neighbors’ names and pray for them. However, depending on your personality, some of the tips might be harder than some. Sometimes being thankful for your neighbor despite them being a hard neighbor or choosing not to complain about them will be hard to do. Remember that God will give you the love, strength and grace to give you what you need to love your neighbors well. Now, will these tips magically make you have amazing neighbors? No. These tips will not change your neighbors overnight. Instead, it will hopefully help you build a better relationship with them and help you gain a different perspective. Alex has four girls and lives in Colorado with her husband. In this interview, Jessica and Alex dive deeper into Alex’s book Loving My Actual Neighbors: 7 Practices to Treasure the People Right in Front of You. She speaks on checking our humility and motivation before we jump to just trying to serve others. Alex then talks about what she calls “Saturday living”, what it is, the importance of living this way, and how to incorporate it into our lives. Part of loving our neighbors well is taking the time to see people, remind them they are valued, and truly listening to their story. We need to slow down enough to be aware of others, like the woman’s shirt, willing to ask questions and then take the time to listen. Alex continues by reminding the listeners that loving our neighbors is a relationship that takes time. You can’t and shouldn’t just jump to loving them by “serving them” because you feel like you’re supposed to. In the 1st episode of The Connected Faith Podcast, Jessica challenged her listeners to ask God how to love him more. In this episode, Jessica helps her listeners understand the difference between loving God out of a response of knowing Him and what he has done instead of works and because people feel like they “should” be loving God. Francis Chan in Crazy Love says, “When we love God because we feel we should love Him, instead of genuinely loving out of our true selves, we have forgotten who God really is.” Jessica helps to remind you to stop, remember who God is, what He’s done and simple tips to “love God more”. Welcome to the very first episode of The Connected Faith Podcast. Jessica’s heart was always itching for something bigger, and she struggled with her purpose because she never felt her actions were big enough to change the world. With God, she realized that her small ripples could change the world. In this episode, Jessica welcomes listeners into her journey and how the Connected Faith Podcast transpired. Maybe you’re struggling with your purpose and how you can impact the world. Jessica provides comfort and encouragement that our small steps can be mighty. Jessica gives listeners practical ways to cast ripples to their friends, family, and communities with the small, consistent, and obedient steps you can take as you walk with God. Just as Mother Teresa said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” Connect with Jessica: jessica@rippleboxes.com Ripple Boxes Links: www.rippleboxes.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/rippleboxes Instagram: www.instagram.com/jessica.rippleboxes
