Description
In season two of THE CONTROL GROUP (Civil Defense), the airwaves are filled with announcements of a nuclear attack on the United States. As panic threatens the community of New Canaan, a housewife (Tess Malis Kincaid) tries to protect her daughter (Allie Ficken) from both the atomic and the human dangers that surround them. Woven throughout the story are fragments of “Quasar-1,” an animated children’s television program about a space pilot (Hannah Fierman) assigned to protect a distant planet from self-destruction.

i come in peace understand" white girl being a white girl
Wasn’t this an hbo show or a movie? I’m sure I know this story from somewhere!?
this podcast is going to piss me off, isn't it?
This was very well done while depicting a tale that chills to the bone. Hard to imagine that acts such as this were actually explored and supported during the time the story took place. I enjoyed the listen.
One can hear the gradual descent to madness of Dr. Hayes as he tries to shape and control his patients instead of seeking to make them whole. Therapy should be about discovering why people are stunted in their lives and giving them the tools to move forward better able to cope with conflict.
It's disturbing, chilling, and honest. This podcast showed how easy it was to deceive oneself that what you're doing is for the greater good and not to preserve the ego through wicked advances in the vein of "psychological health and well being".
Three episodes in and I'm longing for a woman's voice that doesn't sound either overly sweet or overly exasperated. I'm also longing for the historical narrative and analysis I thought this would contain. Unsubscribed.
Wow!
this story to be blunt is nothing close to the depictions of what the preview makes it out to be . 7 episodes in and I cant believe i got this far and as a voracious reader even if i dont particularly like the content for whatever reason I puah myself to finiah the book/ podcast "graphic violence and sexual content" ! WHEN? ALL so far as disturbing content 7 episodes has chuned out is depictions of semi involuntary ROUNDS OF ECT TREATMENT, placing patients into 4 to 6 weeks of medically induced sleep whilst playing subliminal reprogramming tapes while rhey are under their drug induced slumber. ... SNORE!! LEAD SCIENTIST has a.mr burns voice from rhe Simpsons. this story could have focused on far deeper darker areas found in the history of the evolution of psychiatry...i cant be bothered with ep 8. sorry guys but this is pg13 at its best
Amazing
Love the podcast... can't wait for this new episode to start downloading already!!!
uh...when's the next episode?
This podcast is amazing, it's entertaining, the voice acting and sound design is on point and even the ads are done perfectly. They fit with the time period, theme and they integrate with the whole experience so well. It's just great while also giving us a look at the state of mental Healthcare over the years.
I love the way ads were incorporated in this!!
um..wow..I've heard about the horrors of psychiatric treatments, especially those occurring during this time...I am an adult living with bi polar & my life has been a struggle...I've been the Guinea pig, I've endured the shitty side effects from meds & still do, however I feel I owe a debt to those that have struggled in scary fucking places like this..because today, I cannot be forced to take any meds or participate in any treatments against my will..thank you ..& for those whose struggle is real-hang on, call someone, anyone this too shall pass.. ECT segment was chilling..
