Description

There are many people that I’ve met, or would like to meet, that I think of as successful. Not all of these people are financially rich, though some are. Some lead lives of adventure while others lead lives of simplicity at home. Some have found ways to make good money with their own art and creativity. Others make a fine income with what we would call “normal” jobs. Nevertheless, I still think of these people as successful because they have built the life they WANT to live instead of a life they HAVE to live. But every one of these people had to think differently to build this life. They had to look beyond the cards they were dealt, so to speak. They wanted success, but they knew they would have to get creative.

There are people that I’ve encountered who fascinate and inspire me. These are the people who realize that their lives have been solely for the purpose of paying their bills day after day, month after month, with the vague idea of retirement someday in the future. But they want more. They want more out of their days than just knowing they “maintained” their life. They want to know that they are growing toward a goal, a dream, or a mission. And that goal is always freedom. For some it’s the freedom of the dependence on money. For others, it’s the freedom to choose for themselves how to spend each of their days. And for some it’s the pursuit of peace. They want to change their life to one where the days have a baseline of rest, beauty, creativity & enjoyment. All of these goals are what I would call “success”.
