This week on The Cricket Podcast the lads are joined by The Bear from Guerilla Cricket, for what is basically two reasonably long podcasts wrapped up in one extremely long podcast. Part one features an in depth discussion of India’s miraculous escape against Australia. Including high praise for Pant takes the plaudits and love for Pujara as he blocked the shit out of it for 65 overs throughout the Test. Unfortunately cricket wasn’t the only story and they took the time to discuss why the game was held up after Siraj was abused from the stands. Finally, to wrap up Australia and India they look forward to the fourth Test and predict who will win the decider. In part two (56 mins), the boys preview England’s tour of Sri Lanka. Will Bairstow make it back into the side? Should England fear Sri Lanka’s spin attack? And what is England’s probably XI for the first Test? On the latest episode of The Cricket Podcast Jack, Ross and Max go into detail about a load of goings on with the Indian cricket team. Rohit has arrived, and promptly been caught in a Chinese restaurant, another new fast bowler will make their debut in Sydney and Warner's groin isn't moving like it should. Who do the boys think will win the third Test? In part two the fellas eulogise about the brilliance of the New Zealand cricket team, surely the best team in the world? Kyle Jamieson is a freak and Williamson has done some Williamson. They also go over South Africa's home win versus Sri Lanka and what that means for England.  Finally, Max has some tidbits to share about England, Moeen has tested positive for COVID and the team are in quarantine, Buttler has the gloves for the series, and we're all going to have to subscribe to Disney's streamin service. What did Rahane do to turn the team around? Can we expect this to conitnue in Sydney? Part two covers New Zealand's ascent to number one in the world of Test cricket. They edged a narrow win against Pakistan, despite resolute resistance from Fawad Alam. Can they now take a run at the World Test Championship? Finally, in part three, the boys review the various ICC best of the decade awards. Kohli and Perry take the top prizes, but there are disagreements about who deserves spots in the ICC's top teams.
This week's episode of The Cricket Podcast features the annual Christmas cricket quiz. Jack takes on quizmaster duties and Max and Ross go head to head, in a quiz featuring questions on all of the big cricket stories in 2020. Max has also been busy writing some cricket themed Christmas carols, which are dotted through the show. Merry Christmas to all our listeners! In the second part of the show, the boys give their opinions on India's dismal performance in Australia, as the visitors were bowled out for 36. Are they now on for a 4-0 defeat, or is there something they can do to turn things round? If you like our show then please subscribe on your chosen platform, and don't forget to let a friend know! Well... they aren't too positive, though they do have some suggestions which could help! Then, in part 2, 30 minutes in, Jack and Ross chat with Chris Nash. This a cracking chat, with someone who has scored nearly 20,000 runs playing county cricket for 18 years. Action in the IPL is obviously the big topic of the day, but there's still some time to discuss upcoming international fixtures, as well as recent plans announced by the ECB for the English domestic game. With only a couple of games to go in the IPL it is also the perfect time to review the performance of the 10 English players featuring the in the tournament. Let us know who you thought was best via Twitter @thecricketpod Around 40 minutes in attention turns to reviewing the weekend's play in the IPL. The big topic is the Kings XI surge! Jack and Max get together for this week’s IPL special. Things are starting to heat up in the tournament, so there is plenty to get stuck into. To begin with, we need to talk about KXIP, they have come from nowhere to being one of the favourites to make the play-offs. What is behind their resurgence? On the other hand KKR turned in the worst performance of the season against RCB. What’s going wrong there, can Narine save them? The preview section of the show is also packed. This weekend there are crucial games between Sunrisers and Kings XI. The loser of that game will probably be eliminated. And, on Monday, KKR take on Kings XI, this could be the biggest match of the group stage, and may see KXIP take fourth place! Jack, Max and Ross get together for another extended edition of The Cricket Podcast. First of all they tackle the ongoing scandal in South African cricket. For this segment of the show they are joined by Daniel Gallan, who talks the guys through what has gone wrong at CSA, and whether South Africa will be able to avoid a ban from international cricket.  In part two the boys turn their attention to the IPL. There was a world first in the IPL, as Mumbai Indians v Kings XI Punjab went to a super over, but that wasn’t all. It looks like the season may be over for CSK, so it’s time to pass judgement on them. The Royals and Sunrisers also look like they’re in trouble, which of the two have the best chance of making the play-offs? IPL section starts about 49 minutes in.  If you like our show then please subscribe on your chosen platform, and don't forget to let a friend know! The Royals, Super Kings and Sunrisers all face must win games, with any hope of reaching the play-offs diminishing for all three. At the top of the table the Capitals are still flying high, and it appears that the Royal Challengers are also for real. The tournament is heading towards its conclusion, so tune it to make sure you are up to speed! Ross and Jack sit down to talk about the last couple of IPL matches.
