New Zealand are taking on India in the World Test Championship Final. The Cricket Podcast boys take a look at the action from the first couple of days. India are on the back foot thanks to some excellent bowling from Kyle Jamieson.  Can India fight back? How can they deal with Jamieson? Will New Zealand need to accelerate?  Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod  Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/  Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod
New Zealand take on India in the World Test Championship Final, starting this Friday in Southampton. The two top teams in Test cricket will meet to decide the inaugural trophy, unless the British weather ruins it for everyone. Can Kohli's boys overcome the terrific Black Caps? Will New Zealand's warm-up matches v England help them? Who will the conditions favour, and will it rain?  Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod  Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/  Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod
Ross and Max take a look back at the 2nd test between England and New Zealand, which, after a tight start, ended up in a runaway victory for the Black Caps. England's middle order failed to materialise once again, while a much-changed New Zealand side, missing captain Kane Williamson, showed their hosts how it was done. It was a comfortable win the New Zealand, who secured a rare series win away in England. What did New Zealand do well, and where did England go wrong? How are things looking for England ahead of a packed summer? England took on New Zealand in the first Test of the summer and, unfortunately, the match was not a thriller. After losing a day to rain the draw seemed inevitable until Kane Williamson tried to get things going at lunch on day 5. England, however, weren't interested and blocked out for the next 6 hours. The Cricket Podcast boys have a chat about all the "action" from the Test, including Conway's double-ton, Ollie Robinson's good cricket and poor off-field behaviour, and Root's inexplicable decision to not try and win the game.  In part two they look forward to the final Test. How will New Zealand line up with the WTC Final round the corner? Why suspending Robinson was correct? Who will take home the trophy (whatever it is called)? The Cricket Podcast preview the England v New Zealand Test series. Which new faces will play for England? How will New Zealand shape up? Is this the perfect warm up for their WTC final appearance? We'll also have time to discuss the 2021 IPL being rescheduled for later in the year, a few minutes on the County Championship, and we'll be have time for questions! The Cricket Podcast Boys get together to talk about the big cricket news stories of the week. First up they discuss the BCCI's request to reschedule the summer's Test series against England. How should the ECB respond? Could this be an opportunity to get Indian players involved in The Hundred? Then they go on to discuss the County Championship. Approaching the end of the first leg of the competition, holders Essex look like they may not qualify for the top division. Meanwhile 45 year old Darren Stevens smashed 190, including 15 sixes, in Kent's draw v Glamorgan. In part two, the boys name their Old Man XI, featuring contemporary old duffers, old duffers from the past, and old duffers who weren't actually old duffers, but just looked like old duffers.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1njF-8tUuQVbTZVyUaoBcQ/join Our website: www.thecricketpod.com
On this episode of The Cricket Podcast the boys discuss the big news from cricket over the last week. England name their Test Squad to face New Zealand. The big omission is Jofra Archer, who is struggling again with his mystery elbow injury. How will England structure their XI, and will their be room for Ollie Robinson? In other news, Cameron Bancroft has reignited the sandpaper furore, by saying that the bowlers knew. Did anyone think they didn't know? Why is this so funny?  AB de Villiers has also retired from international cricket again. Who saw that coming? Finally, the boys name their World Test Championship XI, featuring a player from every nation, and absolutely no structure whatsoever. Which big names missed out, and let us know who you'd have chosen... The Cricket Podcast boys meet up to talk about the latest news from across the sport. India and New Zealand have named their World Test Championship Final squads. Which looks better on paper? Are there any surprise omissions? Which team are favourites? India have also announced that they will be taking on Sri Lanka in a white ball series. Meaning that they'll have about 60 players on international duty during the summer.  Finally, the boys chat about the County Championship, and discuss which players from the competition may be pressing for a place in the England team.  We were joined on this episode by Nakul Pande Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod

Shimron Hetmyer almost pulled it off, but ended up leaving DC just one run short. In RCB's innings de Villiers was a freak, again, bringing up his 5,000th IPL run. The boys will also be covering today's match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK continued their good form, largely thanks to a terrible innings played by David Warner. Despite Williamson's heroics (again), SRH set a below par score, and Faf du Plessis and Gaikwad helped CSK hunt it down with ease. Next they'll cover the super-over in Sunday's late game, as SRH blew it twice, despite heroics from Kane Williamson.    Finally they'll cover Punjab Kings, who are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders.  Are KKR the worst team in the tournament? The Cricket Podcast get together to cover the last three IPL matches. The IPL is beginning to settle down a little now, and we are starting to get a feeling for who is good and who is bad.    Delhi Capitals took an excellent win over Mumbai Indians, despite  picking Steve Smith. Punjab Kings melted down (again) versus Sunrisers, both teams now have one win! And Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings played out a thriller, including a monster over as Pat Cummins hit Sam Curran for 30!   Featured games:  MI v DC, PBKS v SRH, CSK v KKR   Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod   Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/   Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod
Jack, Ross and Max discuss Monday's IPL fixture between CSK and RR. CSK's batting order (mostly) all chipped in to put on a decent score of 188 from their 20 overs. In reply Buttler started well, but once he fell under the pressure of carrying a sub-par Royals side, the middle order disintegrated at the hands of Jadeja and Moeen Ali, giving CSK another comfortable win.  Just how bad are Rajasthan Royals, and why is Shivam Dube batting at 4? And are CSK actually in with a shout? Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thecricketpod - and check out our sponsors Woodstock cricket!

On IPL match day seven, Rajasthan Royals beat the Delhi Capitals in another thrilling fixture. Chris Morris was the hero for RR as they came from nowhere to steal victory at the death from the Capitals. Tom Curran was the fall guy for DC, why was he there and will he play again? Has Chris Morris paid off his enormous price tag, probably a fair bit of it? And was Tom Curran adopted? Before this match, Rajasthan Royals lost to Punjab Kings in their IPL opener, despite an awesome innings from Sanju Samson. Delhi, on the other hand, won their opener against Chennai Super Kings, with Prithvi Shaw the star of the show on that occasion.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod  Our sponsore: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/  Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Intro 0:00 Summary 2:20 Delhi Capitals Batting 3:50 Rajaasthan Royals batting 10:20 Tom Curran 21:10 Question 25:05 #RRvDC #IPL2021
Jack, Ross and Max discuss the day's play between SRH and RCB, with RCB taking the points to make it two wins from their first two. A first IPL 50 in 5 years for Glenn Maxwell set RCB on their way, and some questionable shot selection and wearing pitch combined to thwart SRH in their chase after they looked comfortable. Where do SRH go from here, and are RCB looking like contenders? Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thecricketpod
