Thankyou for sharing with us not just the story of the unknown boy but also of the attitudes of the authorities and the tragedy of the lost generation. I am a child of the 50s. As a youngster I can remember children of travellers coming to the School for a term and the cruelty and teasing they got.One lass in particular who was shamed by the teacher because of her dirty clothes and face and in particular her dirty feet when we had gymn. I could not understand why. At 10 I did not see her from being different but rather exotic and exciting because she got to move around. She was my friend for a term and then her and her family left. I have never forgotten Morag nor the adults who taught us children the 3 Rs and prejudice . I can also remember the council building so called winter quarters for families and the public outcry against them being in the neighbourhood.
