Episode Title: Operation Golf Club Entrapment Pt. 1Episode SummaryAaron and Devin return with updates on their fitness journeys and an unexpected development: Aaron has actually ridden his bike to work twice (before school schedule changes made it impossible). Devin shares his calf injury saga from pushing too hard in marathon training, though he's recovered with just weeks before the big race. Both hosts continue their intermittent fasting journeys with surprising consistency. The episode takes a dramatic turn when Aaron and Brian Duncan execute "Operation Golf Club Entrapment" - leaving a complete set of clubs on Devin's patio while he's away. What follows is a spirited debate about whether Devin should take up golf for business development purposes, complete with counteroffers and negotiations. The conversation shifts to more serious territory as Aaron voices concerns about his son's school requiring iPad use for everything - homework, assignments, announcements - with zero paper alternatives. This sparks a broader discussion about technology addiction, the damage done to the "iPad generation," and whether schools are making things worse by mandating constant screen time while parents try to limit it at home.Episode DescriptionWhen golf clubs appear on your patio and iPads dominate your kid's education.Join Aaron and Devin for an episode covering calf injuries, intermittent fasting wins, and the great golf club ambush of 2025. Plus, a thought-provoking discussion about whether schools are undermining parents' efforts to limit screen time.In this episode:Aaron's bike commuting update (he did it twice!)Devin's calf injury and recovery just weeks before marathonBrian Duncan's golf club "gift" and the entrapment debateShould Devin become a golf guy for business development?Aaron's Boy Scout considerations and Civil Air Patrol historyMajor parenting concern: Schools requiring iPads for everythingTechnology addiction and setting limits for kids (and ourselves)The damage we've done to the iPad generationAI hype versus AI realityPerfect for: Parents concerned about screen time in schools, dads managing fitness setbacks, anyone who's ever been peer-pressured into a new hobby, and listeners who appreciate honest conversations about technology's impact on kids."I don't want to send my kids to school after... Episode SummaryAaron and Devin return with their most positive update episode yet. Devin shares his City of Lakes Half Marathon experience and final weeks of Twin Cities Marathon training, complete with his questionable fettuccine alfredo fueling strategy. Aaron brings encouraging health news - testosterone therapy is working, he's lifting weights consistently, practicing intermittent fasting, and actually got back on a mountain bike with witness Colin Jaworski. The conversation shifts to parenting philosophy as both navigate new school year challenges. Aaron's son August has maintained a 22-day fishing streak that's unexpectedly teaching patience and providing family reset time. Both hosts question whether modern parents are being too permissive, treating children like peers rather than kids who need guidance and structure.Episode DescriptionJoin Aaron and Devin for genuine progress reports and deep parenting philosophy discussions. Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!Today we’re talking about all the usual things - how nice it is in MN, how out of shape Aaron is, etc… but really we’re here to talk e-bikes. Are they right for your family?Aaron reminisces over his Spicy Curry.Devon needs to sell more homes. That’s about it! If you liked it go ahead and give us a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Don’t follow us though, there’s too many of you already.
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! We're back with a thoughtful take on something that is approaching fast - cycling etiquette. As we Minnesotans thaw out from our winter slumber and begin to interact with real individuals and NOT Zwift avatars, it's important to remember that there are rules, both spoken and not, to keep us all in line and (hopefully) not get in trouble with the local law.Aaron has definitely hit Super Trooper status with his lip caterpillarDevon is fine. JUST fine. HE'S FINE, TRUST HIM.We think this one was uhhh pretty good and if you agree go ahead and subscribe on Spotify since they are our new Overlords.
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! Today we have a Q&A! Two folks have submitted questions to the Cycling Dad's Brain Trust and so we're here to answer. Trust us that in no way are we actually going to provide actual answers.Devon is excited about being "hands-free"Aaron just is trying his hardest not to talk about fitness. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
And now, it's time for something a little new! This here is the SECOND episode of the Cycling Dads Toolchest. We're big fans of self-improvement, and over the years we've come across various books, techniques and other tools that we've used to try and make ourselves better cyclists (and dads). With these episodes, we'll go over one of these in a summary like manner to introduce you - the listener - to said concept. We hope this helps peak your interest and maybe even show you a new way of doing things that you may not have been aware of.Devon does some Cookie ASMR! (We think it's the next best thing)Is Aaron back on a bike yet? Listen and find out!Today's episode is all about COOKING. Why we encourage folks to take it up as a hobby, how to start and some fun stories about how we've all messed it up in the past!Links from the episode :Salt Fat Acid Heat - Samin NosratBudget BytesCooking No-Recipe Recipes - Sam SiftonFood Rules - Michael PollanFitbod (NOT Mindbod, stupid Aaron)We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! This Podcast is now a Gilmore Girls rewatch/recap Podcast! We just knew that all y'all really wanted that good good Gilmore content. Enjoy!...Devon and Aaron are all about setting events for 2025 and that means we need to take a good look at the CALENDAR.(Big thanks to MN Bike Trail Navigator for having all this fantastic information online for local cycling Dads & non-Dads :https://mnbiketrailnavigator.blogspot.com/2024/11/2025-mn-gravel-events.html)Devon just wants to say that he loves and respects Aaron. It's not even a joke this time.Aaron is definitely NOT going to fall prey to the wiles and charms of a small white ball and long, metal sticks. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  Devon and Aaron are back in the saddle and talking about their goals/dreams for 2025 AND there's a heated discussion about who is the best racer in Minnesota. Devon has decided to tackle ONE of the sports from his Tri days. Which one? Listed to find out! Aaron is dressed as a barista for our listeners at home who missed out on the live taping from Devon's office. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  We're a little 'off the back', but we're still working hard. On today's episode Devon & Aaron recap TWO gravel races - the fantastic Granny's Gravel Grinder and the Heywood! Both were excellent MN gravel rides and Aaron even finished first?? (which is different than winning, btw). There's talk about Le Tour (of course) and a plug for TWO amazing State Championship events happening in just a few weeks - The MN State Championship Road Race - July 29th! The MN State Criterium - August 5th! Devon had to pull extra hard on this one, as Aaron is probably (maybe) dying. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  On today's episode Devon, Aaron & Erik Lunde recap their experience at the recent Miesville 56 Gravel Race! We go over everything, clothing options for a Minnesota Spring (Wind, Rain, Snow - why not all three??), tire options & food (or the lack of!!). It was a super fun event and I think it comes through in today's episode. Erik has an unpronounceable last name. This is Devon's *favorite* episode. This is Aaron's least favorite episode because of the same reason it is Devon's *favorite* episode. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  Today's guest is the one, the only Brandon Krawczyk!! After being the brunt of many a joke on our previous episodes, he's FINALLY crossed the threshold and become a father. A very *sincere* father - which Devon and Aaron do their absolute best to inform him that the cute thing he's taking care of right now will eventually take over. Brandon reminisces about how Devon berated him into a loving friendship and how Aaron is a lovable goofball. Devon questions Brandon's new training method of '300 Watts as Much as Possible' Aaron forgot about how embarrassing he used to be as a cyclist (Devon believes he still is). We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  Today's guest is Erik Lunde! Erik is a local Dad and Cyclist who found cycling a little later in life, but is fully on board with the Cycling Dads lifestyle! He's also putting up some major numbers dad-wise, so needless to say Devon and Aaron are a little impressed (and concerned). Erik talks about his transition from non-cyclist, to cyclist who rides alone to cyclist who maybe will ride with people (and how this podcast helped with that???) Wild. Devon is once again outclassed. Aaron tries his hardest to not make this an extension of an inside joke, but fails. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads!  Today's guest is Imant Lisovskis! Imant joined us for S1 Ep. 24 where he talked us through how he found cycling and S2 Ep. 1  where his love of building up beautiful cycling machines was further expanded on.  Imant goes into the details of dreaming, planning & executing a huge multi-day bikepacking ride from MPLS to Grand Marais. You can see the final leg on Stava here - https://www.strava.com/activities/7872832914 Devon is mostly cosplaying as batman in this one. Aaron is mostly recovered. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
It's been a MINUTE We're BACK with our first episode of Season 3! What's new for this season? Well, we're going to try and actually do episodes for one thing! It's February and that can only mean one thing - it's V-Day time. But not the V-Day you'd think. Aaron gets pretty real and walks you through his experience getting a vasectomy. This is not an episode for the faint of heart (or probably for your kids). Devon berates Aaron for taking so long to post a new episode.  That's really about it, actually. If you enjoy this one, give us a rate and a sub on Apple Podcasts! If you don't, don't!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! We're BACK with our third episode of TdF content featuring none other than Rich Sherman. You may remember Rich from Season 1 : Episode 6 and he's here today to tell us all about his Cervelo sponsored trip to le Tour.  Rich fosters an excellent discussion about the state of road cycling and why "Road Is Dead" may be more due to the focus of the community vs. the state of racing. Devon really wants a nice new Cervelo. Real bad. Aaron has bike tragedy befall him - twice! Please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good afternoon Dads & Friends of Dads! Two episodes in one month - it's gotta be Le Tour! Jacob Beissel, Expert Dad, Painter & State Champion is BACK from the top of the world in beautiful France! He and his crew have made their way over with none other than Jessie Rients (Episode 2 Interview) to watch Le Tour and report back. Jake gives us his best update over the phone and tells us about his Alpe d'Huez PR's! Devon is FINE thank you for asking! Aaron gets really into his Zwift Weeknight Race Recap. Please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Good morning Dads & Friends of Dads! It's been a minute, but we're back with some more of your favorite Dad Talk. Le Tour has begun and honestly, we have no idea what's going on but a few of our favorite Dads are over in Europe and will be sure to correct our horrible ramblings.  Devon tells us all about his families trip to the happiest place on earth - Duluth! Aaron finally wins. You'll have to listen to see in what specifically he has won, but he most certainly has won. Please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
Today's guest is Matt Finnesgard! You may remember Matt from Ep. 15 - Matt was a BRAND NEW DAD (BND) the last time he joined us and has been making his way through the world of the Stay At Home Dad (SAHD) all the while. We're excited to hear about his journey and get back into it! We also have a big update on how our Miesville 56 event went (spoiler alert - there was a bit of wind). Matt gives us insight into the hard work of being a full-time parent. You'd think taking work out the equation would help, but you'd be wrong! Devon gives a shout out to our casts nutrition sponsor - 'Whatever Small Food Item You Steal From Your Children'. Aaron gets put onto a PIP. We're pretty pleased with this one, and if you agree, please subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts!
