We’re looking at the first ‘Grand Tour’ of the season in this Arrivée episode from The Cycling Podcast Féminin. Rose Manley and Denny Gray of The British Continental pick out the big stories from a week of varied and exhilarating racing. SD Worx came to the race looking for redemption after being narrowly denied the Vuelta title in last year’s controversial edition, but their leader Demi Vollering had a lot to prove after a disappointing Spring campaign. Her closest rivals - Kasia Niewiadoma and Elisa Longo Borghini - had both already taken landmark wins this year and were on confident form.  There’s also plenty to discuss away from the GC race, in a course that offered up high mountains, a team time trial, breakaway success and chaos causing crosswinds. As per tradition, in association with our friends at Dvine Cellars in London, we’re presenting a selection of six wines showcasing the same terroir that the Giro d’Italia will visit in May. And, as we’ve done in other years, we’ve asked Greg Andrews of Dvine to talk us through the selection on the eve of the race. If you’re not into wine, this is NOT the podcast for you! If, however, you do want to hear what Greg and Daniel have to say, stay tuned and head to https://dvinecellars.com/products/the-cycling-podcast-giro-ditalia to make an order. The wines in the case are listed below with links to the (all very informative) producers’ websites. Unfortunately, Dvine’s cases are still only available to UK listeners but in many instances you will be able to find similar wines, from the same regions, wherever you are. Please also enjoy in moderation! The Giro d’Italia starts here! We begin Girovagando 2024 - our comprehensive coverage of the first Grand Tour of the 2024 season - with our now time-honoured XL preview, ahead of Saturday’s Grande Partenza in Turin.  Daniel Friebe is joined by Brian Nygaard and Rob Hatch for a thorough examination of riders, race route and the big questions ahead of an edition that Tadej Pogačar is widely expected to win. The episode features exclusive interviews with two men who have seen first-hand just how thoroughly Pogačar has prepared for his first appearance in ‘La Corsa Rosa’ - Team UAE Emirates’ Performance Coordinator Jeroen Swart and climbing lieutenant Rafał Majka. We also discuss cultural highlights on the route, what to look forward to from our podcasts in the next month - and one terrifying threat that will loom over the whole race when we get to Naples.  AG1 If you want to take ownership of your health, try AG1 and get a FREE one-year supply of Vitamin D AND five free AG1 travel packs with your first purchase.  In this special episode of The Cycling Podcast - before our Girovagando coverage cranks up next week - we both revisit and preview six new KM0 episodes either released earlier in April or still to come before the Grande Partenza in Turin on May 4.  As ever, we’ll be serving up daily podcasts from on the ground in Italy, where the mood music in the run-up to the race has been dominated by Tadej Pogačar and his Giro-Tour bid. No surprise, then, that we’ll dedicate three KM0 episodes to ‘doubles’ of varying kinds - specifically, the last successful Giro-Tour slam by Marco Pantani, the football team that achieved Italy’s first Scudetto-Coppa Italia double and to whom the Grande Partenza is dedicated…and Pogačar’s own bid.  There are also extracts from our own ‘double-header’ - How to Become a Pro Cyclist and How to Become an Ex-Pro Cyclist featuring Jack Burke and Joe Dombrowski respectively. And, speaking of new roles, we also meet INEOS Grenadiers freshly appointed CEO, John Allert.  Follow us on social media: Twitter @cycling_podcast Instagram @thecyclingpodcast The 11.01 Cappuccino Our regular email newsletter is now on Substack. In this final Arrivée episode from the Ardennes Classics, Rose Manley and Rebecca Charlton take a close look at this year’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes which was full of twists and turns both literally and figuratively. The scene was set for something of a final grudge match between some of the biggest winners and unexpected losers of the Ardennes week. Team SD-Worx came in hoping to rebuild something of their ‘invincible’ status having not taken a win in the Ardennes. But with Elisa Longo-Borghini in flying form and Kasia Niewiadoma on a high after her Flèche Wallonne victory, last year’s triple crown winners could expect challenges from all sides. And after a week full of surprises, Liège-Bastogne-Liège promised more of the same. buycycle Arrivée is brought to you by buycycle – the online marketplace for used bikes, where cyclists buy and sell pre-loved bikes with complete confidence. In this episode of Arrivée, Daniel Friebe and Richard Abraham reflect on a 2024 edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège that had been billed as a clash of the Titans between the two outstanding riders of the season so far, world champion Mathieu van der Poel and 2021 Liège winner Tadej Pogačar.  With the Amstel Gold and Flèche Wallonne winners, Tom Pidcock and Stephen Williams, also on the starting grid, Pogačar and Van der Poel perhaps weren’t going to have it all their own way. Find out who ultimately prevailed and how they did it in this final Arrivée episode of the men’s Classics season.  buycycle Arrivée is brought to you by buycycle – the online marketplace for used bikes, where cyclists buy and sell pre-loved bikes with complete confidence. Rose Manley and Denny Gray of The British Continental offer up their ‘hot-takes’ on an ever explosive edition of Flèche Wallonne Feminine. With SD Worx still smarting from a mis-step from Lorena Wiebes at the Amstel Gold Race, the team was looking for revenge at the second Ardennes race of the week, particularly with defending champion Demi Vollering in their ranks. But they’ll face a huge challenge from Lidl-Trek, buoyed by Elisa Longo Borghini’s win at Brabantse Pijl. And time is running out for Orla Chennaoui’s predicted Kasia Niewiadoma win in the Ardennes, so might it come true this time? buycycle Arrivée is brought to you by buycycle – the online marketplace for used bikes, where cyclists buy and sell pre-loved bikes with complete confidence. In this episode of Arrivée, Daniel Friebe and Richard Abraham review a brutal edition of Flèche Wallonne, ridden in the rain and plummeting temperatures. After his victory in Amstel Gold at the weekend, could the pre-race favourite Tom Pidcock live up to that billing and complete an historic double? Or would someone else - perhaps one of the many previous winners in the field, like Dylan Teuns or Marc Hirschi - conquer the Mur de Huy?   buycycle Arrivée is brought to you by buycycle – the online marketplace for used bikes, where cyclists buy and sell pre-loved bikes with complete confidence. In this week’s regular episode of the The Cycling Podcast, Richard Abraham and Rob Hatch join Daniel Friebe to look back on Sunday’s Amstel Gold Race - before Décathlon-AG2R Mondiale stalwart Larry Warbasse reports from his pre-Giro d’Italia altitude camp on Mount Etna. After a challenging start to the season for INEOS Grenadiers, Tom Pidcock’s victory in Amstel on Sunday was balm for the British team’s morale and confidence. We ask whether it could also be a watershed moment in the Yorkshireman’s career - particularly with this year’s Tour de France in mind.  Larry’s eyes and focus are set firmly on the Giro - and, in the last part of the podcast, the “Motown Maestro” reveals how he and team leader Ben O’ Connor have built towards ‘La Corsa Rosa’.  Follow us on social media: Twitter @cycling_podcast Instagram @thecyclingpodcast The 11.01 Cappuccino Our regular email newsletter is now on Substack. Lads, come on, you mention UAE and Gazprom in the same sentence, then refer to actions taken by sports governing bodies, how, why or when would you care to mention the fact that we've had several races in the middle East already this season, where there is a very significant conflict, in fact currently the most grievous conflict as per the UN, where the UAE and Western powers are involved in a war in Yemen, which you fail to touch on, how is that possible, hundreds of thousands of people displaced, killed, including massive numbers of children, yet the cycling world is silent, no boycott, no blitzing of information, no humanitarian gestures....you'd think the first time conflict /war ever occurred was in Feb 24th.....I'm really dissapointed with you lads, you are articulate, informed, just look at Daniels recall in your final piece, yet Silent on Yemen, as is most of the world, hypocrisy and double standards are rife! I'm not here to defend Russias actions, however to overlook the fact

Brilliant to hear from Tom Pidcock and fascinating for having a current Pro rider hosting it. Pidcock was a wonderful junior talent, similar to Lucy Garner who looks like getting her cycling career back on track. Tom is even more talented, possibly Merckx like! With his physique, talent and mentality, I'm hoping he'll become the world's best for many years, in classics and GTs.

Hi Mitch! Firstly thanks for great podcast! I am Listening it since the Orica times. When you had a proper mullet :) You are saying that next pody is the last one and a special on? My sixth sense is saying that you will open a mystery box of Primož Roglič and showing the world that he is not so quiet one :) Keep up a good work! And come to Slovenia for a bit of great Cycling, ask Mezza about it ;)

Hey Mitch, just one reason why people set the difficulty to zero is for racing. With no gradient simulation, the race is a flat road, so you don't get hit by gear changes and/or fatigue from climbing
