Yesterday was the two-year anniversary of Hamas’ horrific Oct. 7, and in its wake, it sparked a wave of unbridled antisemitism that’s become normalized in society. The latest example in media is when CNN’s Van Jones claimed the media ignores the genocide in Nigeria because “they’re not Jewish,” coining the phrase “No Jews. No news.”

Ian Roberts, the superintendent of Des Moines, Iowa, boasted an impressive résumé—complete with a supposed doctor of education degree.
But what truly stood out was how Roberts managed to advance his career on a résumé filled with false information. What was real, however, was his record: He was living in the U.S. illegally, had an active deportation order, and had a prior weapons charge.
How did a man with fake degrees, false citizenship claims, and a criminal record end up leading an entire school district? Victor Davis Hanson says the answer lies in the dangers of DEI on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”
“ Why would a sophisticated city and a sophisticated school district hire someone without specifying his citizen status or his degrees? And the answer was: He was a diversity, equity, and inclusion candidate. He was a charismatic, apparently, they thought, black American. This was mostly a white city. It had large minority population. They felt it would be a goodwill gesture to hire the first African American—although he was not an African American, he was a citizen of a foreign country. And he was here illegally. But nevertheless, they thought that would be reflecting on their goodwill, their sensitivity, their liberality. “

Portland, Oregon, is under siege.
Antifa-style protesters have targeted federal ICE headquarters by blocking access, attacking officers, and daring Washington to respond. Now, President Trump wants to send federalized troops to restore order and uphold the law.
On Sunday, a federal judge blocked President Trump’s move to send National Guard troops to Portland. Asked about the judge’s order, Trump told press Monday his administration is going to “look at that.”
“Portland is burning to the ground. It’s insurrectionist all over the place,” the president said.

“Trump's point, I think, is different. He is saying that the city of Portland, by its nonenforcement, by intent—not just capability, by intent—it is allowing an area of Portland to be free of, exempt from the law. Local law, state law, but more importantly, federal law, too.
“In other words, people can commit mayhem against federal personnel with impunity. And Donald Trump is saying that I have to protect the civil rights of those agents and that agency.”

On Tuesday, the nomination of E.J. Antoni, the Chief Economist at The Heritage Foundation, to become the next Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was withdrawn. In his first long-form interview since his withdrawal, Antoni joins “The Signal Sitdown” for an inside look at life as a presidential nominee and the problems with our economic data that President Donald Trump is trying to solve.
When Antoni met with the president in the Oval Office upon his nomination, the biggest piece of advice that Trump gave him was “always tell the truth.”
In the months since President Donald Trump nominated him for the position in August, Antoni has lived the unique life of a presidential nominee—constant meetings on Capitol Hill, continued preparation for the nominated role in the administration, and very little sleep. But, day after day, Antoni took the president’s words to heart and told Senators the hard truths about our economy and our economic data.
Antoni explained why the BLS is in desperate need of reform, ”The problems were starting to surface, really, many, many years ago with things like people just not responding to government surveys anymore. Those response rates have been steadily trending down,” Antoni told The Daily Signal.

Following Charlie Kirk’s assassination, there have been over 75,000 requests for new Turning Point USA chapters and many conservative commentators have written about his legacy and achievements, but what hasn’t been remarked about enough is, “What was the essence of his appeal to young voters?" asks Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”
The answer?
Charlie Kirk understood that young people, by their very nature, are rebellious. He wanted to take their natural skepticism and point it toward the establishment, which, today, is composed of the corporate media, higher ed, and baby boomers who never got over the 1960s and '70s.
“So what was the secret to his success? I think what he did was quite brilliant. He understood that young people are, by nature, rebellious. They always, as—you're full of energy. They're full of hormones. They're full of ideas. They haven't lived a long time. And they question authority. That's innate to all of us at that age.
“But what he was trying to tell them was: Use that natural inquisitiveness, skepticism, maybe even rebelliousness, at the establishment. But you're mistaken. The establishment is not conservative.
“The establishment, as defined by the network news, PBS, NPR; as defined by higher education, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Berkeley, Stanford; as defined by the corporate boardroom at Budweiser or Target, or Disney; as defined by the popular culture, if you look—I could just direct you to the halftime show at the typical Super Bowl extravaganza. We could go on, but you get the message.”

“Donald Trump said something—so we don't know where that area to negotiate is. But it's somewhere. But then Donald Trump said, I think, wisely, he said: But we're going to make sure Ukraine doesn't lose. And then he said they can take, as I said, they can take back all the land. They can't. We saw the 2023 offensive. This is World War I. And all of the assets are on Russia's side.
“They don't have the manpower. They don't have the wherewithal. What they do have are brilliant fighters, a sophisticated drone industry, that if they are entrenched and they can hold a line where they are and they can selectively hit oil refineries and munitions plants in Russia, in Western Russia, then they can make it so costly…that Russia will have to come to the bargaining table.”

Many times over Charlie Kirk’s life those that opposed the idea of anyone hearing his message would threaten disruption on College Campuses where Turning Point USA was attempting to hold an event. This would give the administrators just enough cover to pull the plug under concerns for ‘disruption.’ As the movement grew that became less frequent and as the “Prove Me Wrong” events welcomed opposing viewpoints it had seemingly gone the way of the dodo.
Well, it came back.
This time it was the Turning Point USA chapter at Western Albemarle High School that became the focal point of the threat as they scheduled Victoria Cobb, President of the Family Foundation, to visit with them on October 1. At first, the school pulled the plug citing, that’s right, concerns over ‘disruption.’ Not that the TPUSA meeting was going to be disruptive, no. That the ‘counter protest’ would be. It’s a classic. Then, just a 30 hours before her talk was scheduled to have taken place, the school reversed it’s position saying in a statement, “Following discussions with the student leader, and with
agreement on expectations to ensure the event is orderly, respectful, and concludes within the lunch period, the principal has determined that the Turning Point USA chapter at Western Albemarle High School may host its guest speaker during a regular lunchtime meeting,”

And James Comey assured the president of the United States that he was not the subject of an FBI investigation. That was false. Now, he may not have said that under oath, but he admitted he said that, and so did Donald Trump.
“He lied to the president of the United States. And then what did he do? He took that conversation and ‘memorialized it.’ … He did not file them officially with the FBI. He put them in his private safe as safekeeping or insurance, so that he could embarrass the president of the United States, if he was ever threatened with firing.”
