“I’m Sorry, Dave.” It's not that George Soros was born in 2008 but he became part of the political zeitgeist that year as we learned about how he helped raise a fortune for the Presidential aspirations of a young Senator from Illinois named Barrack. Ever since then the specter of Soros and his money has hung over every discussion about democracy in the United States. Last year he announced that he was stepping back from the day-to-day operations in favor of his son Alex, who he calls far more politically active than he ever was, taking over. The fear in Conservative circles was that a more politically aggressive, more targeted Soros organization at Open society would be harder to even keep up with, never mind defeat. The Soros organization is the key pole underneath the tent of a fundraising machine called Arabella Advisors. They are a philanthropic consulting company that oversees a handful of nonprofits, all of which oversee a multitude of left-leaning projects and organizations. When accounting for the seven nonprofits in the Arabella Network, they provided nearly $1 billion in grants in 2023 alone. One group that has done an exquisite job all the way to the point of publishing a book on who Arabella Advisors are is the Capital Research Center. You may not have ever heard the name of a man who was among the most profound intellectuals of the modern conservative movement in America. Frank S. Meyer was the man who came up with the idea of fusionism, an alliance between traditionalists and libertarians that underpinned the anti-communist bloc that composed the American Right for the latter half of the 20th century. Ironically enough, Meyer first came up with the idea of fusionism when he was an out-and-proud Communist, though he initially used the term as a unification of the American Founding and communist ideas a la Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States.” Daniel Flynn, a Hoover Institute fellow and senior editor of “The American Spectator,” has spent the last few years writing a new biography of Meyer called “The Man Who Invented Conservatism.” His book brings to light new documents and information about Meyer’s life previously unknown, and he joined “The Signal Sitdown” to discuss the man-turned-missing-link in the conservative movement. It was calm. He looked around. It was almost as if, ‘Oh. I made a U-turn. Somebody hit my truck. I wonder what happened?’ He didn't get out and try to help anybody. He stood at the side of the road, finally. But why was he driving? He was driving because California issued him a license when they knew he was an unlawful resident of the United States and he was not proficient in English, at least enough to be able to read rudimentary traffic signs and signals. In other words, he killed three people. “This man was not a U.S. citizen. He was not here legally, and he could not read or write English, apparently. And the wages of that, we found out in Florida, were the death of three innocent people. And no remorse. No apologies on the part of California or Gavin Newsom.
