Description

Presenter Ben Shires is starting to get as famous as the comedy stars he interviews but we managed to lure him back with the tantalising promise of devastating legal action over the 20-year-contract we tricked him into signing. So, we proudly present… SERIES 3!! Now every Thursday, from Thu 18th July.
81 Episodes
Reverse
It's the end of the series and we've got a delightfully smutty episode by way of an ear-tickling climax. Presenter Ben meets the towering talent that is Greg Davies, fresh off his new sitcom Man Down, and unveils an unlikely sexual fantasy fan site dedicated to Greg's seductive charms. And then, for a very happy ending, we go Gallic with lascivious French raconteur Marcel Lucont. Ooff.
If you're looking for happiness, look no further; Gyles Brandreth has the answer and it's yours for the price of a ticket or a book (he's fine with either). He's also had a rather interesting life from author and politician to comedian and actor. He's done it all. And if that wasn't enough we also have award winning comedian, sitcom star and writer and part time cyclist Holly Walsh. Well done us.
Freewheeling comedian Ross Noble is anything but linear. Even the most straightforward conversation takes a turn for the surreal. He's an absolute joy to behold. And what is there to say about Warwick? Hollywood, check. Award winning comedy, check. West end star, check. Is there anything he can't do? We also have Israel's answer to Lady Gaga, Meital Dohan, on for a chat about style and fashion. Ben is in his element.
It's a weird and wonderful episode for you to feast on this week. Bill Bailey (yes BILL BAILEY!) gives us a lesson on Chinese cuisine and the proper protocol for leberating owls and Andrew Lawrence gives one of the most honest and hilarious accounts of comedy we've ever been witness to. Definitely worth a listen. And I'd say that even if we weren't contractually obliged.
Dave Gorman has a brand new TV show and it's bloody brilliant! Yes it's on Dave so we're contractually obliged to say that, but it genuinely is. Not that we talk about that much, a lot of time is spent talking about being Gorman-esque. The one and only Andy Zaltzman is also in the house, unfortunately not bearing gifts like we'd come to expect with the Zaltzman family.
The legendary Ed Byrne and the Moustachioed maestro Mike Wozniak spent time out of their busy stand up schedules to shoot the breeze with our immaculately dressed host Ben Shires. Among other things they discuss how to build the perfect Comedian... Take a dash of Russell... add a sprinkling of Byrne... you get the picture.
So... Edinburgh's comedy-athon is in full swing... Fosters newcomer nominee and supporting star of Seann Walsh World Romesh Ranganathan. We also chatted to Rob Auton, winner of this years most prestigious award Dave's Joke of the Fringe and if that wasn't enough Museum of Curiosities comedian Dan Schreiber talks facts and findings. It's a packed little show.
Sam Simmons is back on our shores and he's still talking sh*t, only this time he's doing it to the paying public. We caught up with the Mustacheod mischief maker in a dimly lit Soho theatre basement. Hilarity ensued. And if that wasn't enough, and you can never have too much comedy, the fast talking and fast thinking Robin Ince came up to Dave towers for a fast paced chat to put the world right. #funny
When faced with the intelligence and comedic prowess of Rory McGrath we thought we'd start the conversation off with something erudite and witty... unfortunately all we could muster was a long conversation about faeces. And to make things worse Brett Goldstein then came in to talk about smut and pornography straight after. Oh dear.
Have you heard the one about the Englishman Irishman and Scotsman? Well we're two thirds of the way there... and the Australian is in Scotland so near enough... right? In fact it's not just the Australian that happens to be in Scotland, the Dave Weekly happens to be Scotland this week as it's the EDINBURGH FESTIVAL! Yes that's right we're back up in comedy town for the start of this year's laughterfest and this week we've got Sean Hughes and David Quirk on to chew the fat about comic-ville. They also talk about other things for those of you already bored by the Edinburgh festival.
It's the long-awaited Episode 2 of The Dave Weekly! Yes, it's been a whole week. Very much 'The Dark Knight' to Episode 1's 'Batman Begins', here we tackle meatier, weightier themes with presenter Ben Shires, as always, playing the joker. Actress Rebecca Front discusses her ridiculously impressive comedy CV, from The Day Today all the way to The Thick of It, and reveals how she became an accidental champion of mental health issues on Twitter. Ben also meets his quiff-based nemesis, stand-up David Morgan, to find out why going to the Edinburgh comedy festival is like Xmas with your in-laws. Hopefully Episode 3 won't turn out to be a sprawling, over-stuffed mess and an utter, utter disappointment, Christopher Nolan.
The Dave Weekly is going A-List... Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Edgar Wright, Charlie Day and Russell Howard. Not wanting to blow our own trumpet, but we're pretty proud of this one. It'll probably be downhill for the series from here but what a way to start. You are welcome.
Yes, it's the third series of our award-winning comedy podcast, starting Thursday 18th July. It's bigger, stronger, faster, sexier and not afraid to take it's shirt off in the park. To kick off with a bang, we've got superstar stand-up Russell Howard, comedy icons Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, back on the big screen with The World's End, plus US comedian Charlie Day, the star of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Pacific Rim. Hit that subscribe button, punk.
Comedy fans rejoice! Dave has another podcast for you to enjoy. Alex Horne will be joined by some great comedians to discuss the best and worst news stories from the week.
With Alexander Armstrong being such a great guy and one of the wittiest men on TV we thought we'd make a BIG deal out of getting him on the show. We also present the Dave's One Night Stand Award for best comedy venue in the UK... But you'll have to listen to find out who won. How's that for a cliff hanger?
Oh how we've laughed. Leicester really is a darn funny place to stay, especially during a comedy festival. This week we have three fine comedians of all ages and styles. Paul Foot kills time before catching a train, Tom Rosenthal talks off a hangover and Tony Law is live from a karaoke bar in London. Yes London. But he was up in Leicester we just happened to miss him when he was there.
We caught up with Alan Davies backstage before his Leicester gig to talk about his latest tour before heading over to Dave's Curry house for the weirdest and most hilarious blind date ever.
The first night proper of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival and we were in the thick of things. Back stage with the one line maestro Milton Jones, post gig chatting with the WitTank trio and the most surreal discussion we've ever had with Rich Fulcher. It's all in there. Oh yeah!
The Dave Weekly podcast team are heading up to Leicester for 16 days of hilarity for Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival. To kick it all off we'll be talking to Dave Spikey, Pat Cahill, Joel Dommett and Angela Barnes. It has funny written all over it.
Over the series we've had some very tough decisions about what goes into each episode and what ends up on the cutting room floor. Inevitably we make some very obvious mistakes. Here are just a few that should have made the grade. Apologies.
A podcast full to the brim of comedy talent: David O'Doherty, Angelos Epithemiou, Tim Key, Alex Horne, Nick Helm, Peacock & Gamble, Rhys Darby, Tim & Eric, Rob Beckett and Last but not least Ronna & Beverley.
It’s the end of another series, the end of another year, and if the Mayans get their way, it may well be the end of the world too by the time you read this. For our last episode we have two great new comedians to get you excited about the new year. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
The mild mannered Englishman, Humphrey Ker, gives us his side of the story regarding the weird and wonderful world of The Penny Dreadful's slash stories, while Katherine Ryan tries to convince us that she didn't grow up in Narnia.
Award-winning Australian comedian, radio and TV presenter and all round hilarious human being Sam Simmons joins us on the pod this week and if that wasn't enough we also have Joe Lycett returning to what can only be assumed as the new Dave Weekly co-host the amount of times he’s been on.
The comedian novelist Russell Kane and comedian sitcom writer Jason Cook join us on the podcast this week to talk about their lives so far. Both of which are heavily influenced by their parents. Coincidence?
As a stand-up, it’s one thing to die on stage – but what happens when people die just before you go on stage? Brilliant Irish comic Andrew Maxwell reveals all. Is it a conspiracy? Probably not, but as the presenter of ‘Conspiracy Roadtrip’, Andrew has a thing or two to say about wacky theories, alien prisons and the mysterious Area 51. Plus, rough-round-the-edges stand-up Rob Beckett tries high-class wine tasting and ex-Daily Star hack Rich Peppiatt talks about turning the tables on his former bosses by exposing the mucky world of the tabloid press. Don’t miss Andrew Maxwell’s One Night Stand, Wednesday 12th December at 10pm on Dave, also featuring Pat Cahill and Chris Ramsey. It’s funny and that.
Doug Naylor comes in to Dave HQ for his follow-up chat about series X of the brilliant new series and is joined by Yorkshire funny man Paul Tonkinson who talks about the big three, TV, radio and comedy. Strap in!
The Burger van owner and plastic bag carrying comedian Angelos Epithemiou joins us at Dave Towers for an in depth chat about playing behind the bins with sir Ranulph Fiennes and the heavy metal comedian Steve Hughes gets all conspiratorial about the state of our dear nation... It's satire, but not as we know it.
The wild haired pun-meister, Milton Jones, has breezed into Dave towers for a chat on the Dave couch and Phil Nichol comes in to talk about his multi-award winning shows. Plus Adam Hess gives you all some terrible advice. What more could you possibly want.
Lee Nelson is in da house! He's talkin' laydeeez, chat up lines and much more with our resident podder Ben Shires and if that wasn't enough for your comedy lovin' ears we've also got the brilliant and utterly hilarious Celia Pacquola. Qualiteee!
In the first part of two, we have been joined by the brilliant Doug Naylor to talk about all things Red Dwarf from the origins right up to series ten. And as if that wasn't enough we have two back stage interviews from the Birmingham gig of Comedy in the Dark with Josh Widdicombe, Ivo Graham, Joe Lycett and David Morgan.
Here we are with another delicious and warming slice of witty waffling as presenter Ben talks to veteran of the UK comedy scene Jeremy Hardy and catches up with stand-up Chris McCausland about Dave’s Comedy in the Dark tour. And, drum roll please, as we present the first of our regular ‘Educating Rob’ features with salt-of-the-earth comic Rob Beckett endeavouring to better himself with a series of posh pursuits. First up… elocution lessons!! Wasn’t there supposed to be a cymbal crash? And why is the drum roll still going? How do you turn off that flippin drum roll? It’s getting annoying now. Eurrhgh.
We talk to 20th century heart throb Lee Hurst about pretty much everything, from his foray into TV to being one of the sexiest men that ever lived. And if that's not enough we also talk to Doc Brown about his amazing career from rap to comedy to world domination. It's enough to get you chomping at the bit.
Craig Charles is back as the brilliant Dave Lister for the tenth series of the highly anticipated Red Dwarf X. The other cast members have had their say now it's time for the vindaloo lover to have his. Simon Evans also joins us for a star studded comedy conglomeration that is this weeks superb Dave Weekly. Enjoy!
The sniveling, self-loathing coward, Arnold J Rimmer, Played by the brilliant Chris Barrie, Joins Ben while filming on the set of Red Dwarf. And if that wasn't enough we also have the poetic comedian Tim Key giving Ben a hard time for his unorthadox interview technique. Someone had to.
We’ve got one cool customer in our second Red Dwarf X special, as presenter Ben - who’s no a stranger to tasteful tailoring himself - discusses sartorial stylings and elegant outfits with Danny John-Jules, Red Dwarf's flamboyant feline. Danny reveals why Cat has an American accent, how he auditioned for the role in character, his unexpected chart success and a possible Red Dwarf Series XI. Plus, outspoken Aussie stand-up Jim Jefferies tells us how he uses Dave to impress the ladies and explains his unexpected success in the US. Next Friday, it’s Mr Arnold J Rimmer himself, Chris Barrie. Marvelous. Ok, that's it. No, you put the phone down first. No, YOU!
We go behind-the-scenes at the making of Red Dwarf X, launching Thursday 4th October at 9pm on Dave, to get the low-down on the new series from the cast themselves. In the first of our four specials, presenter Ben talks to Robert Llewellyn about playing Kryten once more, the back-to-basics nature of the new show, just where the heckins Series 9 went, how Twitter and Facebook have revolutionised fan feedback and the logistics of lunching as a rubber-masked mechanoid. Plus, Ben catches up with controversial US talk show hosts Ronna & Beverly and reveals details of Dave’s upcoming Comedy in the Dark tour. Next Friday, the cat gets the cream when we talk to Danny John-Jules.
We have a blockbuster lineup this week with American comedy powerhouse duo, and bona fide movie stars, Tim and Eric as well as the raptastic duo Abandoman kicking some beats comedy style.
Brendon Burns talks about the glory of being middle age from the perspective of a rock and roll comic, Mark Little explores the absurd and Jeff Leach explores himself.
We have a smorgasbord of comedy talent for you to feast on with Max and Ivan, the comedy trio Jigsaw and let's not forget the brilliant Lucy Porter. Oh, and did we mention, we have the Funniest Joke of the Fringe winner?
Alex Horne's in search of an accordion, Elis James swaps local Welsh town stories and James Acaster explains his efforts to reduce audience interaction.
Tom Stade joins Ben in his hotel room for a chat about dog walking, accents and rocking it out. Tom Deacon delves deep into his sticker collection and Boy with Tape on his Face talks (yes talks!) about the origins of his stand-up.
It's our second biweekly from the Fringe Festival and we're still loving the liberal lifestyle. Presenter Ben lures our first-ever podcast guests, Peacock and Gamble, back to his Edinburgh hotel room, surreal stand-up Simon Munnery talks about his conceptual comedy restaurant and Kiwi comic Jarred Christmas discusses the tricky art of compering.
We’ve got a trio of Fringe favourites for our first bi-weekly podcast. Festival veteran and self-proclaimed ‘King of Edinburgh’ Richard Herring chats with presenter Ben about his Fringe experiences before moving, inevitably, towards his manhood and new show ‘Talking Cock: The Second Coming’. Plus Matt Forde swings by to add a touch of highbrow political debate and frizzy-haired funnyman Carl Donnelly talks glasses and gravy. Next witty bulletin (witulletin?) from the Festival Fringe is this Friday with guests including Simon Munnery and Peacock & Gamble. Love you! Bye!
With the comedy behemoth that is the Edinburgh Fringe kicking off, we’ve got a special preview show with four must-see comics at the Festival. We find out about Tony Law’s faulty wiring, Marlon Davis explains how his last Edinburgh show got him fired, Sara Pascoe reveals why ‘Sara Pascoe tits’ is her most popular Google search (highbrow stuff this, innit?) and presenter Ben goes head to head with ‘grumpy young man’ Josh Widdicombe. And watch out next week as the bi-curious Dave podcast goes bi-weekly at the Fringe.
Flight of the Conchords star Rhys Darby flies in to Dave towers (not literally) to chat about frisbees, UFOs, retro sound effects and a smattering of other interesting trivia. Ben also hosts Nick Helm in his beautiful south London flat wearing just his dressing gown with lusty novellas on his mind.
Hold onto your hats, The Dave Weekly is officially back on the airwaves, hurrah! Coming to your little pods this week we have a real treat in store. Mark Watson and David O'Doherty join us direct from the main stage to discuss flea circuses, ping pong and chorizo.
Series Two is almost upon us and boy are we excited. This brand spanking new series is going to blow your socks off with witty banter and some of the best interviews you've ever heard. Hows that for a sales pitch?!
It’s the final episode of The Dave Weekly – Daily from Leicester and it’s a pleasure to bring you the wonderful Paul Foot, who, as usual, chats absolute rubbish in the name of comedy. Apparently he has a gas powered vagina. Who knew? We also catch-up with Marcus Birdman slap-bang in the middle of a gig and our very own Ben Shires takes on the advice of the professionals and performs his very own stand-up set.
Richard Herring ‘King of Edinburgh’, Lord of Leicester (possibly) graces us with his lordly presence to talk about love and marriage. There’s no mention of a horse and carriage but there is comedy by the cart load.
