The Deal Makers - The ILF Podcast Series

This podcast of the Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) of Goethe University in Frankfurt is managed with the input of and assistance from the student cohort. It aims to explore the evolving landscape between law and finance and show how legal frameworks and regulations are adapting to keep pace with these changes. It is hoped that an engaging platform will be created where one can delve deeper into the current legal issues and industry trends that are shaping the future of law and finance. This podcast will cover a wide range of topics, from ESG to regulatory developments in FinTech and capital markets. The ILF is a center for academic excellence in teaching and research in the fields of law and finance located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It provides interdisciplinary training to lawyers, senior management and executives in Germany and worldwide and serves as a policy center in the legislative process by offering forums for discussions and exchanges between academia and practitioners.

In “Revving Up for the Road: The High-seed world of IPOs”, our 5th episode of the Deal Makers Podcast series, Dr. Sebastian Sieder, our student and Vienna based lawyer and Alexander Rang, Partner at Hengeler Mueller, focus on the how, what and why of an IPO, including a basic understanding of the process and important legal stipulations of a company going public. #4 FinTech Focus 2023-24: “Cryptocurrency and Digital Assets”

On 20 April 2023, the European Parliament adopted Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on Markets in Crypto-Assets (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation - MiCAR). This was the motivating factor for our student Nicolas Bonilla to meet up with Dr. Conrad Ruppel, partner at Ashurst in Frankfurt am Main and to discuss this new, harmonised regulatory framework for crypto-assets and related services. As an expert in financial markets supervisory law and litigation, Dr. Ruppel’s practice covers all areas of investment and financial markets law, including the regulation of new technologies and digital assets.
