After several months off during the school year and all that entails, "Lies Men Believe" is the theme of season 2 for The Defiant Dad Podcast.
Several men from last season will be reprising their roles and helping equip us with truths from scripture to fight the lies we hear (and believe) on a daily basis as God-fearing men.
Season 2 will run from Fathers Day til about Labor Day, give or take, and the two goals for the summer are 1) that men and their families would be drawn closer to God and 2) that they would be equipped by and drawn to the all-sufficient Word of God.

Ryan McCarthy is an associate pastor at Christ Chapel in Fort Worth. After an incredible conversion experience while attending college, Ryan felt called into the world of counseling, and he earned a degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and eventually worked in Christ Chapel's Soul Care ministry.
In this episode, Ryan shares his testimony before diving into the meaning of "soul care" and why it matters for men who are wanting to lead their families well.

In this day and age, it's extremely easy for men (and women) to fall into this trap of thinking that our entire worth is built into the things we accomplish, the money we earn or the prestige we gain. The negative consequences of such thinking are far-reaching but we are not without hope! The Bible points us towards the truth of God's sovereignty and the love He has for His people... which isn't tied to any of the above.

Ryan Hamon is an associate pastor at Crossbridge Church in Sugar Land, Texas. In this episode, Ryan details the difficult journey of infertility that he and his wife walked through for many years before they were able to have children, and how The Lord was with them every step of the way. This episode is a great resource for anyone who may be in a similar situation.
After several weeks of prayerful consideration, I think it's time for The Defiant Dad Podcast to take a break until next summer. In an attempt to focus on producing high-quality interviews, I have made the decision to convert the podcast into a summertime series. The next season of The Defiant Dad will begin around Fathers Day 2024, and continue on through about September 1, give or take.
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. It has been a delight to hear from so many men about how these interviews have shaped hearts and minds for the sake of The Gospel. God willing, we will be back again in 2024!
When you become a father, you take on one of, if not the, most important role in your life. The course of your life and how you live will undoubtedly have lasting impacts on your family and on those around you.
Faithful fathers can easily fall into the trap of believing that their sin isn't all that bad, and that it won't affect others. Frighteningly, it's plain to see that on this side of eternity, we are deeply depraved and woefully unable to follow God's commands. So what can the "defiant" dad do? We strive to be the faithful servant leader, relying on God's grace through it all.

I have always admired my christian brothers and sisters who have decided to foster or adopt kids who aren’t their own. First off, because these people also understand the idea of being adopted into God’s family via Christ’s death and resurrection. Secondly, because these people aren’t God — they don’t have his infinite power, patience, or energy…. And yet, they pour out themselves for the benefit of a defenseless child.
Even more, they say to this child, “You are mine.”
