November 3, 2011: Despite Max almost not remembering to show up for the program, your hosts brought the best hour of radio ever produced in Studio 3B. Topics included Max's affinity for live music, Ken's new hairstyle, the end of the World Series, and comedy from Louis CK. Featured Artists: Guys Named Steve!
October 27, 2011: The boys were back in Studio 3B for a rollicking show featuring Siri, the Humble Personal Assistant! Sit back and relax as the fellas discuss Max's unhealthy obsession with outdoor equipment and provide live updates during Game 6 of the World Series. Featured Artist: Zac Brown Band!
October 6, 2011: After an unacceptably long hiatus, Max and Ken pick up right where they left off, at the top of the heap! Featured Artist: Bob Seger!
March 23, 2011: A show that was lost to the sands of time has been recovered! Lots of great entertainment here for The Beautiful People, including an extended review of previous seasons' slogans. Featured Artist: Stereolab!
March 9, 2011: Ash Wednesday is here, and the boys make the best of a day of fasting and penance. Accordingly, this show is missing the start (late recording) and the end (early termination). But hey, at least we preserved some of the fun! Featured Artist: Passion Pit!
February 9, 2011: After a 10-month hiatus, the gentlemen return to Studio 3-B, where the brass is brassier and the sound-dampening foam is foamier. Post-Super Bowl analysis of the commercials fills one segment. Featured Artist: Blitzentrapper!
A bittersweet symphony of comedy. Max, Ken, and Producer Christina discussed the proper pronunciation of the Icelandic volcano, the Top Ten places not to get caught, and they even set goals for the summer hiatus. The Frightened Bunnies were Featured Artist (or perhaps it was Frightened Rabbits, it's all a haze at this point), rocking The Beautiful People until the Fall 2010 season.
With Max away on business, Producer Christina sits at Microphone 2. This week's show featured reviews of favorite stories on the Telly, reflections on the feast of Meating Friday, and ridicule of the non-present Max. Jonathan Coulton was the Featured Artist, bringing comedy and musical talent to the ears of The Beautiful People.
The first successful recording of the new semester comes just as Spring Break rolls around. The crew talks about celebrity puppies, the Olympics, Bubb Rubb and Lil' Sis, and ten signs Spring is upon us. The Featured Artist was Queen, a band fine enough to rock your world in good times and in bad.
Ken brings you an extra-special message of hope and joy to get you through the holidays.
The penultimate show of the Fall 2009 season is full of the A-list comedy: sports news, holiday gift ideas, and even a diss on Britain! Producer Christina describes her Thanksgiving fiasco, and the Barenaked Ladies made an appearance as the Pacific Hide and Fur Depot Featured Artist of the Week. All in all, a great way to spend your 39 minutes and 30 seconds. You could do worse, and it will cost you more to do so.
First off, an apology to the fans listening via podcast. Somehow, parts of the show got cut off during the taping, so there are some strange cuts and transitions. But never fear! It's still good stuff! This week, the crew brings you a call from a dedicated listener, covers the Pilot Soccer teams both making it to the playoffs, and even gives advice to anyone travelling to New Mexico (hint - shave your head!). Sadly, we have to edit out Jane's Addiction, the Columbia Wool Scouring Mills Featured Artist of the Week, but you should download their catalog from the iTunes Music Store at your convenience. Tell 'em Max sent you.
Thank you to all of our friends who have served (or are serving) this nation in the armed forces! The guys and Producer Christina brought a bit of sadness to the studio this week as they lamented the NCAA giving the Portland Pilots only a 2nd seed in the Womens' Soccer Playoffs. They celebrated the Sesame Street 40th anniversary with a lightning round of "Least Favorite Character", speculated on what might happen if Florida were chopped off of the continent, and exposed Let Me Google That For You as The Pulse of The Cool. You podcast fans are missing out on Aaron Neville, the Pacific Hose and Fittings Featured Artist of The Week!
The crew takes on a serious topic this week, discussing Vancouver, Washington and how it can rename itself in light of the international city it is often confused with. In sports, Max and Ken decried the damn Yankees and their dominance of the World Series, and then grew angry about fans forgiving and forgetting cheaply - and they were talking about you, Alex Rodriguez! Producer Christina reviewed Jacko's final movie "This Is It", and the boys celebrated the lives of dead actors, rejoicing in the movies and TV that they leave behind. Weezer's new album, Ratitude, was the Malarkey Roofing Products Featured Artist of the Week which rocked our socks off, so get it today!
Max was out with what may have been the Swine Flu, so Producer Christina and Ken picked up the slack with discussions about the H1N1 flu and its non-existent vaccine, sexy Halloween costumes, Penn State and Notre Dame football ending long-standing losing streaks, and the joys of meeting your favorite authors. Our Featured Artist of The Week was Peter Gabriel, the man who was Phil Collins before Phil Collins was Phil Collins. Good stuff!
The Nobel Peace Prize was the rage this week, as Max and Ken discussed the award given to President Obama. We then talked about Where The Wild Things Are: the movie, as well as the Volkswagen ad campaign called "The Fun Project". Our Featured Artist of The Week was The Bird and The Bee, a lovely duo that can rock your world no matter what your mood.
This week features discussion about Al Qaeda's latest innovation in destruction, the rectum-bomb. We chatted about David Letterman's affair and the cruel irony of being the butt of your own jokes. Best of all, we introduced our new producer, Christina Sigler. Our Featured Artist of The Week was They Might Be Giants, especially their album Here Come the ABCs, which we highly recommend if you have children (or just a difficult time remembering the alphabet).
This week features this day in history, the National Champion Pilot Soccer Women at the White House, Snakes On A Plane with Samuel L. Jackson, the campus Spelling Bee, grilled meats on swords, and the week's weather. We also paid tribute to Artist of the Week Buck Owens, but you'll have to play your own records at the appropriate times.
This week features Medallion Madness, healthy omega-3 bacon, the upsetting NCAA Men's basketball tournament, Clark's 1806 visit to The Bluff, political attack ads and how they assault logic, and the ball-busting Organic Chemistry class. You're missing out on Creedence!
Ken and Max, back in Studio 3B following a raucous Spring Break, discuss the SAT score debacle, the NCAA Men's basketball tournament, the 2008 premiere of the Star Wars TV series, and the lyrics of Led Zeppelin. It's a shame you didn't tune in live, because the Hammer of the (RIAA) Gods prevents us from including the Featured Artist of the Week in the podcast!
