We’ve all got that friend or cousin who steadily hawks some overpriced miracle drink, leggings, or shampoo on social media. They aren’t just trying to sell you something, but would like to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime to achieve riches while working from home on your own terms. You’ve probably been too afraid, or too loving, or too reasonable to confront them. Not us. This season on The Dream we go inside the world of multi-level marketing to expose this pyramid-shaped business model for what it is. Join us on this bizarre journey filled with snake oil salesmen, shifty millionaires, struggling single moms, and a few sweet grandmas.

I wish I could listen to the guest speaker without so many interruptions from the host!!!!

Wow,them limelite bosses are seriously damaging their karma
I grew up in midmichigan close to the time that she did and her description of the lifestyle and culture is pretty spot on
Just listened to the 1rst season - can I just say WOW...!!! I really enjoyed the history, the personal take from family members...well done guys 👏👏👏👏
please put me plot;I'll keep p LLP LLP LLP LLP l l
So very Christian of Danielle to take a "class" to learn how to separate poor trailer-park dwellers from their money. SMDH.
https://youtu.be/u2_JvnAhBhE this song has some profanity, but it made me this of this podcast 😂
Leave Dan alone.
The host is just damn brave. Straight up courageous.
Nice F Bomb to start Season 2.
Oh my God, oh my God. This series has been one of the most fascinating examples of investigative journalism. As a former addict to multi-level marketing companies, it is fascinating on a personal level. Great work, guys.
As an ICU nurse, listening to this entire episode and having to hear passages from that book made my eyes roll back so far into my head I think I detached my retinas. And I KNOW fellow nurses who sell Young Living and DoTerra. 🤦♀️
I knew it! I knew it! those vitamins and minerals and all that is a sham lol. can't wait to tell my wife that I was right
Oh I heard an episode on this on Dateline
This was an awesome episode! Listening to you describe growing up around your family members participating in various MLMs really hit home for my sister and I as we grew up. Our Mom and Grandma both did Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, the Tupperware crap, and the jewelry parties. Neither of them participate anymore and I hadn't thought much about it til listening to your podcast. I plan on getting the low down from my Mom next time we talk... I've never heard the details. I came across your podcast from an online news article listing the top podcasts of 2020... I then proceeded to spend the day "binge listening" to the entire season 😬 It's great that you guys are shedding light on these shady companies and unscrupulous "business" tactics--love your podcast!
"Eventually there will be a peasant in Bangladesh who can't come up with the money and then the game would die." This woman sounds fucking disgusting.
season 2 just kind of abruptly ended. I feel confused.
This show went from awesome to political commentary in half a season. unsubscribed.
I too was not impressed with the woman who was "at the top" and how she took a class on how people spent their money?
