Colossians 1:3-6, 9-12
3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel 6 that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace. 9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[e] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
Matthew 6:9-13
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed b your name..."
In a world where the Lord's Prayer can become ritualistic, Pastor Steve Van Denend reminds us of Jesus' intent, urging us to turn routine into a personal connection with God. As we step into the New Year, let's make prayer the heartbeat of our journey, fostering a deeper, more meaningful communion with God.

Worship: Our Weapon
Ephesians 2:1-3a "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh”
Worship is a powerful weapon against these forces of evil, as it shifts our focus from the circumstances around us to the power and majesty of God. We seek to answer, how worship can be a source of strength, courage, and peace during difficult times? This message challenges us to see worship as a tool for spiritual warfare, and to use it to overcome the battles that we face. The message ends with a powerful testimony of worship overcoming darkness and depression.

Worship: In Spirit And Truth
John 4:20-24 "Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.  Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Worship is not just about external actions or rituals, but it's about the heart and spirit behind those actions. True worship is a genuine response to God's grace and love, and it involves a deepening relationship with Him. We must examine what worship looks like in our own lives and if we are truly worshiping in spirit and truth.

Worship: Our Living Sacrifice
Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship
Worship a lifestyle, not just an hour-long service on Sunday. Worship is about offering our entire lives as a living sacrifice to God. This means we surrender our will, our thoughts, and our actions to God's will; this sacrifice of our lives is the most meaningful form of worship. Today's message encourages listeners to examine their lives and see where they can offer more of themselves to God, to make worship a daily practice, and to truly surrender their lives to Him as a living sacrifice.

Worship: Our Right Response
Phillipians 2:9-11 God has highly exalted Him to the highest place and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Worship is not just singing songs or playing instruments, but it is a response to who God is and what He has done for us. Through worship, we acknowledge God's greatness, confess our dependence on him, and surrender our lives to His will. Our surrender doesn't make Jesus Lord. He is Lord all on His own. Worship is our right response to who He is.

Renew: Reveal
John 5:15 I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Is that God communicating with us or are we simply hearing what we want to hear? God reveals himself to us in many ways, but if aren't in relationship with Him it can be difficult to discern His voice.  When we are part of the vine, God is always present and wants to communicate with us, we just need to be open to listening.

What does it mean to seek God first? Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, Seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, He says, and all these things will be given to you as well. We also know that God calls us to intercede on behalf of our world.  So what does it look like to seek God for the sake of the world?

What does it mean to seek God first? Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, Seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, He says, and all these things will be given to you as well. We can apply this to our personal faith, but what does it mean to seek God first in community? In the Church? Ephesians 1:4-6  provides us with instructions on what a Spirit bound church can look like.

What does it mean to seek God first? Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33, Seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, He says, and all these things will be given to you as well. Jesus words here in Matthew six are paralleled in a passage from the Old Testament in the book of Haggai. This often overlooked Old Testament book has a powerful message from God to us that is just as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago. Seek First.
