E590: High link velocity is typically way better than low link velocity because it usually indicates virality and real sharing. Virality means real backlinks from top publications, without black hat techniques. This is an explanation of how positive link velocity led the same outstanding SEO results as a competitor, for only 20% of the backlinks. Then, there are two case studies of crazy link velocity. One that cost a lot of money and one that was pretty much free. Finally, we go into creative link velocity strategies for how you can do this and how I plan to. 🎧 Listen to E587, “Stopped Using Link Inserts, Rankings Increased” - https://youtu.be/FuVqU-n7xHc ⭐️ Source for this episode: https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1imd65e/link_building_in_2025_strategies_for_success_and/ 🚀 Compact Keywords - Get purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO (few backlinks needed) - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:45 Link Quality vs. Quantity 03:52 Real-World Examples of Link Velocity 04:06 Case Study: Friend.com 07:59 Case Study: Neon Money Club 09:46 Creative Strategies for Link Building 10:29 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E589: How this consumer app used 45 accounts across TikTok and a lot of trial and error to scale to over 120 million views in only 3 months. The app is Yope, a montage app for friend groups. Whereas their competitors are only going after the English market, Yope is focusing on videos for the Spanish-language market. Out of 45 accounts, more than 50% are in Spanish. Each account posts twice a day, with over 1,500 videos posted to date. The Spanish accounts are performing incredibly well, with tt@mar_yope leading the way—averaging 110K views, with the highest reaching 5.3M. Check out this English account: tt@janin.yope. It took her 70 videos before hitting her first viral one at 1M views. Now, she has videos with 4.4M, 5.3M, and 2.5M views on top of that first one. Good things take time. Building strong accounts and fine-tuning them is key. The idea that "post every day and you’ll be rewarded" by the TikTok algorithm is definitely real. It took 45 videos for tt@yrrah.yope to get a breakthrough. Now, she has 6 videos over 1M views and 35 videos performing 10x better than the median. Formats vary from text posts, with hooks like: "Me explaining to my boyfriend how we literally have 4 DAYS to download Yope so that on January 1st we can create a secret album of us, and at the end of the year have a recap movie with all our memories." To app-style videos with hook to app demo. From talking videos to slideshows to memes, Yope is exceptionally good at building accounts. Diving deeper, it looks like they’re a Ukrainian company now operating from London. That could explain why they’re targeting EU markets—or it might just be a strategic move. There was one Polish account, and they might have more niche EU ones. They started by targeting multiple languages and successfully built viral accounts in each one. Now, they’re scaling up, with 15 new accounts launched in the past two weeks. The app was created in 2022, but they only started this multi-account UGC strategy three months ago. And now, they’re absolutely crushing it. ⭐️ Source: https://x.com/iamgdsa/status/1889326927531372626 💎 Compact Keywords - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:34 Case Study: Yope’s Viral Success 01:11 Locket Widget Comparison 01:55 Differentiation With the Spanish Speaking Marketing 03:18 Building Viral Accounts: Strategies and Hooks 05:35 Scaling Up 05:47 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E588: Joshua Ryan Schaver (@bagelfinagles on IG) gives his funnel for doing $20,000+/month with Instagram. If you’re doing organic Instagram marketing, especially as a creator, or thinking about starting, this will be useful. This means not spending on ads, just making Reels and normal Posts. This is the 4 step funnel that Josh has developed. 1️⃣ Step 1 – Create a webpage, a blog post, etc. 2️⃣ Step 2 – Create a free product and paid products. (You don’t have to make these yourself—these could be as simple as affiliate links—but the real money is in your own branded products.) Read the comments on your posts; this will help you develop other products or services, as you’ll see below. 3️⃣ Step 3 – Start using CTAs (Calls to Action) in your posts, comments, replies, videos, etc. It’s important to drive traffic to your site, gain more followers, and grow your email list! 4️⃣ Step 4 – Use your email list to retarget your audience. Implement the best-performing CTAs in newer videos. Understand the relationship between viral traffic and regular traffic to your website. Viral traffic should be directed toward free items and then FUNNELED down to higher-ticket products. 🔖 Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/InstagramMarketing/comments/1fmura6/20000_in_30_days_ama/ ⭐️ Compact Keywords - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction to Joshua Ryan Shaver's Success 00:52 Josh's Instagram Marketing Strategy 02:05 Step-by-Step Guide to Monetizing Instagram 05:12 Q&A: Tips and Insights from Josh 07:45 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E586: Google is going after spammy SEO sites that make searchers scroll and scroll to find their answers. This is an effort to combat the poor user experience that’s been driving searchers away to competitors such as ChatGPT or UGC solutions. Searchers hated this too, it’s one of the most complained about things with Google Search. Spammy SEOs would maximize time on page by obscuring answers and hiding them way down on the page, below a ton of fluff. This update from Google is starting with just recipe sites, which are notorious for this bad behavior, but I expect it to roll out to other niches soon. 💎 Sources Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1ijcfpw/google_guidelines_warns_of_significant_scrolling/ Search Engine Roundtable: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-warns-of-significant-scrolling-on-recipe-blogs-38847.html Featured snippets get more clicks: https://seosherpa.com/seo-experiments/ Google to 89% market share: https://www.storyboard18.com/digital/googles-global-search-engine-share-falls-below-90-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-a-decade-53515.htm Compact Keywords - Get purchase-intent traffic for your business through SEO (without many backlinks) - step-by-step video breakdowns - SEO templates to be copied and adapted for your products and services: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction 00:15 Google's New Guidelines for Recipe Blogs 00:24 Impact Beyond Recipe Blogs 00:31 Details of the Updated Guidelines 01:00 User Experience and Scrolling Issues 01:57 Community Reactions to the Update 02:49 SEO Tactics and User Engagement 03:06 Google's Detection of User Behavior 03:36 Search Intent 03:47 Featured Snippets and User Interaction 04:50 Google's Focus on Originality 05:30 Future of SEO Practices 06:49 Conclusion and Final Thoughts The Edward Show. E581: Over the last two years, the Google Helpful Content Update has been killing small and mid-sized blogs. Just recently, it’s gotten more serious. Even HubSpot has lost 80% of its blog traffic. But was this due to the Google Helpful Content Update or to something else? And all the data suggests there was a different root cause. It wasn’t just Google taking out the blogs with the HCU (Helpful Content Update). It was a preventative measure to stop searchers from leaving Google altogether. Black Hat SEOs exploited and ruined blogging, and searchers were getting sick and tired of it. Google did what it had to in order to survive. E574: The five silent killers of startups that founders never admit. This is an expansion of the viral short video I previously made on this. When startups die, it’s not with a bang but with a whimper. These are the five most common reasons why startups fail. 1․ The Expert's Curse ◦ Being an industry expert becomes the biggest liability. ◦ You solve yesterday's problems. ◦ You know too much to see new patterns. 2․ The 90-Day Death Clock ◦ Days 1-30, vision leads. ◦ Days 31-60, you need validation. ◦ Day 90+, still no validation? You're already dead. ◦ You don't die when money runs out, you died three months ago. 3․ Reality Distortion Debt ◦ Every assumption equals debt. ◦ Every we know better equals interest. ◦ Every delayed user test equals compound interest. ◦ Most startups are bankrupt before they're broke. 4․ The Competence Trap ◦ More competence = more procrastination. ◦ Building becomes an escape from selling. ◦ You're perfecting code instead of getting feedback. ◦ This is death by beautiful products that nobody wants. 5․ Time Perception Disorder ◦ Soon = never. ◦ Perfect timing = fear. ◦ The market is not ready = we're not ready. ◦ While you wait, the market moves on. The hard truth. Startups don't fail when you run out of money. They fail when you choose: ◦ Comfort over truth ◦ Planning over testing ◦ Knowing over learning Compact Keywords - Backlinks don’t matter - Get tons of purchase-intent traffic - Max out your TAM: https://compactkeywords.com/ 00:00 Introduction and Episode Setup 00:39 Silent Killer #1: The Expert's Curse 02:31 Silent Killer #2: The 90-Day Death Clock 05:37 Silent Killer #3: Reality Distortion Debt 06:34 Silent Killer #4: The Competence Trap 07:23 Silent Killer #5: Time Perception Disorder 08:05 Conclusion and Podcast Information The Edward Show.
