Acid House NFTs | Genesis’88 NFTs | NFTs FutureWayne Anthony discusses the option of digitally archiving EDM history including The Second Summer of Love in 1988. Wayne is internationally recognised for staging some of the biggest illegal Acid House (Rave) parties in history. It was the effort of his organisation Genesis’88 and a handful of other large scale party promoters that pioneered a series of events never experienced in the UK. Genesis’88 flyers are highly sought and sell for hundreds of pounds. Wayne shares some thoughts and opinions on how promoters, artists and musicians can reclaim ownership over their creative output. Wayne was the first person to mint an Acid House NFT in the form of a Genesis’88 Chapter 1 flyer. A fitting beginning for archiving a generational shift unlike any other in history. Wayne has already created limited edition Acid House artwork for minting into NFT and will continue to explore this area.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)Supporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Behind the Scenes with Genesis’88 | Acid House 1989Genesis’88 staged three illegal parties in Ferry Lane, North London. The first epic party was on the 11th February 1989 and the last a few weeks later. Numerous waypoints worthy of note have been documented including fronting two police captains, standing up against two police riot squads, and staring down the barrel of a robbers gun. This is also the night their full security team demanded a cut of profits from then onwards otherwise they’d take the nights takings and leave. Thousands of people attended the events, many later commented on how their lives are transformed by Genesis’88 events.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)In This Episode*   Genesis’88 & Sunrise 14th January 1989*   Genesis’88 11th February 1989*   Finding and Blagging Warehouses*   Producing Fake Leases From Estate Agent Letter Leaded Paper*   Gangster Lee (RIP) Types Up The Fake Leases*   Traffic Strategy for Ensuring Cars Reach the Venue *   Staging Genesis’88 Parties Every Week for Months*   Sunrise Tony Threatened By East Enders*   Chapter of Chapters Flyer*   Meeting Warehouse Owner Ten Years Later*   Wag Club - Gerry (Mini Cab Operator) *   Meeting WD Cab Driver (Wizard Sparky)*   Arriving on Night of Party (No Power in Building)*   Hiring Lasers for First Time*   Gurkhan (RIP) Story*   Fronting Police Captains & Riot Squads *   The Fiat 126 Story*   Folks Start Arriving at Meeting Points*   1st Police Captain Arrives - Interrogates Wayne *   Carlton Leech (Rise of Foot Soldier) First E   *   Security Demand 25% of Profits*   Yardies Attempted Armed Robbery*   Collaborating With Acid House Heavyweights*   Crashing Aerodrome on Ferry Lane*   Biology Stage First Event Same Night as Genesis’88*   Second Police Captain Arrives with Riot Squad*   And Much MoreSupporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Behind the Scenes with Genesis’88 | Acid House 1988Genesis’88 established their name as top flight promoters in the warehouse on Leaside Road, Hackney. They transformed a large dirty illegal warehouse into a winter wonderland. Staging three events over the Christmas period and then a News Years Eve party with the legendary Sunrise. The Genesis’88 partners spent many days decorating the building in preparation of four historic events. It was rented to them by a landlord whom actually turned out to be a squatter. Genesis’88 held a series of memorable events in the building. Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)In This Episode*   Genesis’88 Leaside Road Flyers 1988*   Finding The Warehouse on Leaside RD*   Keith Brooks Joins Genesis’88*   Creating the Winter Wonderland*   Confronted by Shotgun Wielding Skinhead*   Genesis’88 Start Weekly Long Run of Events (4 months)*   Escaping the Swinging Sixties*   Staging Parties Over Christmas*   Biggest New Years Eve Party with Sunrise 1988*   Blagging Law Enforcement with Sunrise Tony*   Gatecrasher Locals Trying to Break into Building*   The First Robbery Attempt*   Police Burst Bubble by Announcing Landlord was Squatter*   Genesis’88 and Sunrise Collaboration Continues*   Wayne Anthony’s Limited Edition ArtworkSupporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Hm Government vs Acid House 1988 - 1990The third in a series of podcasts deep diving the printed media’s reporting on Acid House and the people attending events. The sensationalised headlines were mostly written by anonymous journalists, although the named journo’s were just as ferocious. The style of reporting we’ve since witnessed when the state moves to shutdown a national threat. Hundreds of articles were constructed to misinform the general public so laws and governmental powers to curb the assembly of people could be fast-tracked into play.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)In This Episode*   Where are The Eleven Year Olds?*   My Last Pill NYE 1995 Holborn Pavillon Australia*   Acid House Promoters Wont Get Licenses*   Biology Jarvis is Acid’s Mr Big*   Protecting Your Money*   Yardie’s Attempt Armed Robbery at Genesis’88*   Why Lie About Charity Connections to Events*   Biology Jarvis Threatens Police with Riots*   Bros Enlist in War on Acid House*   Does Drug Use Diminish The Acid House Experience?*   Technology Unleashes a New Batch of Music Producers*   Cops in Battles with Ravers*   Cop Taken Hostage at Rave!*   Arresting Promoters Then Releasing Them*   Cops Battle with Acid House Yobbo’s*   Closing Down Britain’s Most Famous Clubs*   Goldfish Pills Sold as Ecstasy*   M25 Acid Parties*   Genesis’88 | Biology Free New Years Eve 1989*   Sunrise Gets Stopped | Joins Genesis’88 & Biology*   Wayne Arrives at Warehouse with Thousands of PeopleWATCH ON YOUTUBE: https://youtu.be/SRbkBSYnFxYSupporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Government Confidential Files Released Nearly Thirty Years After Acid HouseWayne Anthony deep dives the declassified Acid House files released by the National Archives in 2016. Contrary to popular belief the Tory government headed by Margaret Thatcher appear more concerned with noise pollution than health and safety. Confidential memos even state that ‘drugs are not the main issue’ MP Carolyn Sinclair. This may come as a surprise to most considering all the bad press until this point. The government were also considering making ‘noise’ a criminal offence with heavy penalties for the prosecuted. The declassified files outline various methods of dealing with Acid House ‘organisers’, venue owners and anyone remotely connected to Acid House parties.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)Watch Video: https://youtu.be/Rk6AhBhF6xgIn This Episode*   Acid House in the Press*   Government Wants to Make Noise a Criminal Offence*   Biology Jarvis Loves His Champagne*   The Gerald Coke Letter to Prime Minister - August 1989*   Increased Penalties for Promoters & Land Owners*   Flurry of Communications After Gerald Coke Letter*   MP Carolyn Sinclair Memo 1989*   Government More Concerned with Noise Than Drugs*   Police Wish They Were Called ‘Pay Parties’*   Government Surprised by Lack of Alcohol at Events*   First National Police Computer Network 1989*   Ravers Encouraged to Snitch After Being Illegal Stopped*   The Phrase Pay Parties Becomes Common*   Using Common Law Against Party Promoters*   Bring Acid House inline With Pop Concerts*   Controlling Different Genres of Music Through Licencing*   The Licencing Application Process*   Private Members Bill & Criminal Justice Act*   Inspectors with Decibel Meters Patrolling Birthday Parties*   Association of District Councils Document 1989*   Information Concerning Acid House Parties Document 1989Supporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Acid House Trashed by All News Outlets 1989 OnwardsIn the second part of Wayne Anthony’s analysis of news stories published by media outlets between 1989 and 1990. Hundreds of news articles are printed during this period. The sensationalised headlines were targeting parents and voters. The aim is to change the law, further restricting the movement of people. The news stories were instrumental in engineering fear among parents. The articles highlighted key areas they wanted to change but needed the full backing of the general public to make it happen. Acid House Trashed by All News Outlets 1988 - 1990In this podcast Wayne Anthony deep dives some newspaper articles of 1988, highlighting the propaganda surrounding Acid House. Sensationalised media stories produced hundreds of Acid House headlines over a period of two years. Clickbait wasn’t a term back then but newspapers and TV programs were manufacturing clickbait at an alarming rate. Fake news stories were firing up Middle Englanders against youth culture. They were instrumental in bringing the culture into every household in the country. Saatchi & Saatchi couldn’t have designed a better marketing campaign. News reports were mostly negative and pushed certain themes. The end game is changing the law to restrict the movement of people and make ‘noise’ an actual crime with penalties enforced by law.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)Watch Video: https://youtu.be/KYhF1qegvBcIn This Episode*   It’s Groovy and Cool It’s Our Acid House T-Shirt - The Sun 1988*   Evil of Ecstasy - The Sun 1988*   Acid House Themed Fashion Ranges in Major Retail Stores - 1988*   Roof Falls in on the Acid House Craze - Daily Express - 1988*   Pukka Gear - 1988*   Acid Party Army of Baseball Bat Brutes - The Sun 1988*   Bad Trips End in Hospital - 1988*   Sounds Like a Cult - 1988*   Dodgy Advise from The Sun’s Doctor - 1988*   BBC Radio Helplines - 1988*   Panic Attacks induced by MDMA*   Journalists Suggest Sexual Assaults at Parties - 1988*   Mass Acid House Orgies - 1988*   Marathon Dance Sessions Drain the Body - 1988 *   Boy George & Mark Moore Bad ExperienceSupporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. The British Keyboard Wizard of Acid House | AdamskiAdam was destined for a life in the arts. Influenced by the likes of Malcolm Maclaren and the DIY culture of punk. Adam was making music with his brother on cheap recorders, when others were out playing cowboys and Indians. A firm favourite of John Peel, Adam set his sights on a career in the music industry. Influenced by Acid House, Adamski was born in 1989. Everyone booked him to play at their events, the journey took him around the country. The album Live and Direct featured a series of instrumentals produced at home in his bedsit. Singles such as NRG charted and Adamski appeared on Top of the Pops. This wouldn’t be his last appearance on Britain’s top music show. Adamski teamed up with Seal for the Number One track Killer. Adamski was the British poster-boy of Acid House who continues to produce music to this very day. Recently recorded with Boy George, Adrian Sherwood and a host of talented recording artistes.Host: Wayne Anthony (Genesis’88 / Class of 88 Author)Guest: Adamski (Live from Austria)Watch Video: https://youtu.be/shau-J3R9r4In this Episode*   Adamski Becomes Acid House Poster Boy*   Plugging Keyboards Straight into Mixing Desk at Events*   Playing One and Half Hour Sets*   Media Reports Adamski Playing at Disneyland for £150,000*   Record Company Spin Gets Adamski in Bother with Pet Shop Boys*   Going to Andrews (Genesis’88 partner) Parents Off License*   The Great Rock n Roll Swindle*   The Music Show The Tube on Channel 4*   Wayne Meets The Cure on Route to The Tube*   Amnesia Opening Party in Ibiza 1988 | DJ Alfredo*   Major Influences are Malcolm Mclaren and DJ Alfredo*   Living in Ibiza with DJ Alfredo and Hanging with Jimi Polo*   Performing at Amnesia Opening / Closing Parties 1989*   Sending Demo to Fast Product Records*   Getting slammed by Derrick May*   Performing live at Sin, Hacienda, Heavens, World Dance, Sunrise, Amnesia*   Living with Seal and collaborating on Number One Track Killer*   Performing at Confusion on Sundays*   Boy George Offers to Write Songs for Every Track on Album*   Mick Jones from the Clash was my Roadie*   Killer was the Soundtrack Playing When the Berlin Wall Came Down 1989*   Appearing on Top of the Pops*   The Lucozade Bottle Record Cover*   Energy at Westway Film Studio 1989*   Hip Hop Years*   Working with Fire Fly*   Producing New Versions of Killer with Boy George & Adrian Sherwood*   The Man That Introduced the Smiley Face as the Symbol of a Generation*   Mutoid Waste Ground Warehouse Parties 1980s*   Playing at Extinction Rebellion in Oxford Circus*   Adamski is Still Producing New MaterialResourcesAdamski Website: https://www.adamskiofficial.com/Adamski YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmeiLg5kWAhUR_hJwqxS5KgAdamski Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/officialadamskiSupporting the PodcastWe have only recently launched the video and audio podcast, which means we really need the support of our viewers and listeners. Staging Parties 1989 | Crashing Warehouses | Beyond CovidThe term legal has many definitions but history denotes Raindance as the first British dance party promoters granted an all night music and dance licence in 1990. Raindance Richard has been at the helm since 1989 and one of the longest running outfits in the UK. Richard started with Acid House but today stages multi-arena events playing Hardcore, Jungle, Drum n Bass and Garage music. Pez was throwing up graffiti when Acid House arrived in the UK. He partied hard at all the big named clubs and events. Spotting an opportunity he seized on the idea of designing flyers for party promoters. Raindance became his number one client, designing countless flyers and visuals for their events.Host: Wayne AnthonyGuests: Richard Raindance & Steven Perry aka PezSupport the Podcast… Like, Comment, Share, Embed, Subscribe, Follow, RepostWatch on Youtube: https://youtu.be/3DHQyuIjsuwWebsite: http://theeightyeightpodcast.com/Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheEightyEightPodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/the88podcast/Twitter: https://twitter.com/The88PodcastSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-eighty-eight-podcast-introduction-00/donations
Acid House 1988 | Police Raids | The DungeonsEarly Acid House initiates may remember the Rave at the Cave. A mechanics railway archway in Elephant Castle, South London. A venue which hosted a series of iconic events at the height of the Second Summer of Love 1988. Attracting up-for-it party enthusiasts from all corners of the city. Two of the original promoters DJ EllisDee & Steve Whyte (DJ Chalk E White) share their untold stories. This small underground venue is widely ignored by history. Podcast host Wayne Anthony attended most of the events staged there. Rave at the Cave was brought to dramatic closure when raided by a police squad that rolled up on a train. Accompanying the raiding party was investigative TV news program World in Action. On that very night across London in Aldgate East, Wayne Anthony and partner Andrew were holding their first Genesis’88 event.Watch on Youtube: https://youtu.be/l4PyWmFt4vAShare, Like, Subscribe, Comment & Follow;Website: http://theeightyeightpodcast.com/Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheEightyEightPodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/the88podcast/Twitter: https://twitter.com/The88PodcastSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-eighty-eight-podcast-introduction-00/donations
