In this episode we’re talking to Jenny Jones, our newest member of our Board of Directors and Chaplain for FAITH RXD West Houston. She has been actively involved in CrossFit for 7 years, with the last 2 years as a coach. She also serves as the Associate Pastor at Real Hope Community Church, and has been married to her husband, Chad, for 17 years. They have 4 kids: Ryland (15), Seth (13), Wyatt (10), Kennedy (9). We get into how she came to know the Lord and what it was like navigating that as a child with parents that were not believers, but who later would come to know the Lord themselves. We also dive in to her passion project. Through a partnership with World Vision, Jenny founded The Cheru Challenge. A charity workout that equips athletes to raise funds for water well projects for kids in developing countries that do not have access to clean water. To join in and be part of the next challenge, go to www.teamworldvision.org/cheruchallenge To hear the updates for the next True Strength Camp, sign up at www.faithrxd.org/nexttruestrength All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. We would ask you to pray about partnering with us in what God is doing by becoming a monthly donor. Seriously, first pray about it. Whether is $5, $50, $500 or some other amount, it is all used and helps accomplish the mission. If God is leading you to give, you can do that at www.faithrxd.org/donate
In this episode, we’re talking to 2021 CrossFit Games Team CrossFit Westchase member, Hannah Hardy. Hannah has a genuine love for the sport, for how CrossFit positively impacts people’s lives, and how it compliments her current occupation as a Chiropractic Intern. We dive in to how her relationship with the Lord is the reason why she’s able to combat the thoughts that still linger from a past eating disorder, how life is better now than the dream she had for herself in high school, and how competing in the Florida Grid League compares to competing at the CrossFit Games. All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. We would ask you to pray about partnering with us in what God is doing by becoming a monthly donor. Seriously, first pray about it. The roles are being mixed up and the person being interviewed Lindsey Strickler, our host, and Marketing and Media Director. FAITH RXD BCS Chapter Leader Javi Alonzo, and FAITH RXD Board Treasurer and FAITH RXD Houma Chapter Leader, Jadi Rodriguez take the host seat to ask the questions and dig in to Lindsey’s story. Lindsey shares her life of growing up a military brat in multi-cultural environments, building a non-traditional career, and living a life of faithfulness to Jesus throughout it all. All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. Anthony Davis competed this past weekend in the Individual Elite Division of Wodapalooza. He is not new to the world of competitive CrossFit as he competed at the CrossFit Games in 2017 with Timberwolf CrossFit where they finished 8th place. He’s also set the record for the heaviest Snatch in a live competition- twice. But none of that is as impressive as his heart for the Lord, or his commitment to being a man of character and integrity. We dive in to how he came to know the Lord, and the way it has made a dramatic change in his life. We don’t want to spoil anything, but he gets real about a devastating porn addiction and the effects of forgiveness in his family. All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. We are in a season of giving and we would ask you to pray about partnering with us in what God is doing by becoming a monthly donor. Seriously, first pray about it. Today, Jadi sits down with us to discuss some things that have weighed heavy on his heart this season. We talk about what it means to have a worshipful Christmas and how it looks different as a believer than it did when he was an atheist. If you missed our last podcast with Jadi, you should go back and listen. We talk more about his testimony and how he came to know the Lord. It’s a wild story that only God could write. We are in a season of giving. All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. Today we’re going back to this summer at the CrossFit Games where we had the opportunity to sit down with a missionary named Scott. Due to the nature of his work, we can’t be too public about his identity. He shares the incredible story of how God called his family into vocational missional work and what they have been up to. Something you won’t hear us talk about publicly is the work of FAITH RXD members in closed countries. What closed means is that Christianity is not welcomed there and people who spread the Gospel are persecuted. Scott is not one of our missionaries, but we have other men and women, like Scott, that are using their fitness to access countries they otherwise would not be able to. Right now, we are in the midst of what we become our annual end of year fundraising campaign called the FAITH RXD Family Challenge. We are challenging our FAITH RXD family to PROTECT OUR GIFT, BUILD FOR THE LOST, and COMMIT TO HIS COMMISSION by raising financial support for the organization. Today we’re sitting down with Jared Graybeal. Last year, Jared sold his company, Superfit Foods, a healthy, subscription-based meal prep service. Afterwards, he hit the road to meet with people and explore what his next project should be. Out of that experience, he launched the Zelos Games, an event and experience company aimed at solving the earning potential issues faced by many athletes within CrossFit. Needless to say, he’s an incredibly driven person. To balance his drive with the contentment that God calls us to, he’s developed a daily system that works well for him. We discuss what that striving and contentment journey has been like for him, as well as what he’s been up to since we last sat down at the 2021 CrossFit Games. If you missed our last podcast with Jared, you should go back and listen. We talk more about his testimony and how he came to know the Lord. It’s a wild story that only God could write. Today is a little different than what we normally do. Instead of an interview, we are sharing the BELIEVE talk from True Strength College Station. It was given by Ben Alderman. He owns a gym in California, and is the creator of the Iron Mile, a mile long walk with a yoke. He shares what it means to believe in Jesus. It is the first part of what we believe is the prescription for faith, which, in it’s entirety, is BELIEVE, FOLLOW, LOVE. Believe in Jesus. Follow what he says. Go out and love people. We are in a season of giving. All we do at FAITH RXD is possible because of God, first, second because of our incredible volunteers, and in a major way it is also because of our donors. Today, we’re going back to the CrossFit Games to an interview we did with Adaptive Athlete JCruz Gudino. We hear his incredible story of how his life changed in 2019, but he fully believes it’s because God had bigger plans for him than he had for himself- and this is how God wanted to do it. He lives with a rare condition that leaves him unable to feel his legs, yet, he can walk. This episode is brought to you by Crossover Symmetry. Today we’re talking with Jadi Rodriguez. Jadi has a crazy story of going from being an Atheist professor, trying to convince students to leave their faith, to becoming a believer and is not in seminary to be a theologian. We talk about his journey which includes divorce, and talk about God redeeming that area of his life as he met his wife. We also dive into our culture’s current battle with sex and remaining pure. We discuss how both the rejection of purity and divorce are symptoms of a bigger issue. If you enjoy the podcast and the work that we’re doing at FAITH RXD, we’d love for you to consider becoming a financial partner. Today we’re talking to Brian Nelson, Mayhem’s CFO. He recently started Mayhem Mission with Rich Frohning, and their goal is to help communities in need through faith and fitness. We dive in a little bit into Mayhem Mission, but spend a bulk of our time talking about how Brian came to know the Lord , why he’s so passionate about his relationship with God and loves sharing it with others. In fact, as this episode is published, Brian is in Peru with his crew, loving on people there. We are very excited to be partnering with Mayhem Mission at the BCS Classic this week on a kickoff event for the festival. If you haven’t heard about BCS Classic, it’s a Faith Family and Fitness Festival in College Station Texas that was started by Charlie Lima who we’ve interviewed in the past on this podcast. If you’re in the area, you definitely won’t want to miss out and should come hang out with us. Today we’re sitting down with Jared Graybeal, founder of Superfit foods and owner of E3 Business solutions. He share’s his testimony and unlikely path from selling drugs, going to prison, then his life being turned around by fitness and a relationship with Jesus. We want to give a huge thank you to MakeWODSGreatAgain for having our back and providing mics for this interview when ours wouldn’t work. If you haven’t checked out one of our FAITH + FITNESS Workouts, which are free events that happen every month in 80 cities and 9 countries, then go to www.faithrxd.org/chapters to get more info and find one near you.
Today we’re talking to Joshua Broome- pastor, speaker, and anti-porn advocate. In a post earlier this month, Joshua wrote, “It is never too late to start moving in a different direction. God loves you and desperately wants to know you. There is a new life filled with peace, purpose, and love waiting for you when you surrender your life to Jesus.” It’s a truth he knows on an incredibly deep level. After what many would call a successful career in the porn industry as an actor, who was nominated for Male Performer three times, and won it once, earning over a million dollars- it left him empty and wishing to die. He walked away from it all, and started over with a career as a CrossFit coach. It’s there Jesus would meet him through the people he met, and we’ll, you’ll have to listen to hear the rest. The topics we discuss are a bit much for you her audiences, so if you have kids listening, we’d recommend listening to it first without them to determine whether or not they’re ready to hear our conversation. A few things before we dive in. Registration for True Strength College Station is now live! We are incredibly excited to be bringing our three day immersive faith and fitness training camp to Texas. We promise you’ll leave challenged, yet renewed at the deepest levels. Head to www.FAITHRXD.org/truestrengthcollegestation to watch our mini documentary of our last camp and learn more about this one coming up. Until August 22nd, we’re running an early bird special of $349, reduced from our regular $449. We also have a big request. If you enjoy the podcast, our daily devotionals, our camps, or are plugged into a local community, please consider becoming a monthly donor. All this is only possible because of you guys. We talk about his journey of becoming a believer and how he uses his gym and his festival to bring others closer to God. He drops some amazing truth and what it looks like for you to use your miracle opportunities to be a light for Jesus, no matter where you are in life or what you’re doing. Billy is back! We sit down for a conversation on an experience he had recently where he spoke on spiritual blindness to a young group of men. Billy does not have a degree in ministry or any formal training, yet God has used Billy to be his voice to people through speaking and being a Director at FAITH RXD. The ministry of FAITH RXD is possible first, because of God and what he’s chosen to do through us, but second, because of the incredible generosity of our community through volunteering and financial giving. We’d love for you partner with us and would be honored to be part of your monthly giving. You can learn more, or give, at www.faithrxd.org/donate
In true Tyler fashion, he cuts through a lot of the noise and speaks directly to our hearts in this talk. Tyler is the Chapter Champion for FAITH RXD and has been involved in the organization longer than most people. He gets in to his personal testimony, but it’s to illustrate how we all have things that are holding us back from following Jesus fully. It’s time to let those things go. After giving this talk at the True Strength Faith + Fitness Training Camp this weekend, 20 people were baptized and either gave their lives to the Lord for the first time, or reeducated their lives. God moved in big ways and has continued to do so in the days since. If you are looking for meaningful community, please find a local FAITH RXD chapter near you by going to www.faithrxd.org/chapters
We’re excited to share the story of one of our teammates here at HQ. Cassie’s story is a beautiful one of redemption and the ongoing healing that is possible when you surrender your life to the Lord. Cassie has seen the power of what God can do as he’s redeemed her past of being an atheist who tried to convert people to not believing in God, to her broken marriage, and family dynamics. Cassie is part of our programs team for a few years, and has been part of our broader FAITH RXD family for much longer. We’re honored she’s willing to share her testimony on the podcast. We’re super excited to announce that we’re back in person! We’ll be hosting the True Strength FAITH + FITNESS Training Camp this May 14-16 in Miami, FL. Join us for a weekend of fitness, faith, and fun in the sun! For more info, visit www.faithrxd.org/truestrengthmiami
Christian is an entrepreneur, husband, father, and founder of Florez Media with his wife Hailee. Together they work with athletes and influencers like Dan Bailey, Nicholas Meregali, and others. Christian’s path has been unconventional, and you can’t deny the hand that God has had in way before Christian even had a relationship with him. We discuss his battle with drugs that began in 7th grade, what led him there, and how God has transformed his life. It’s a powerful testimony to how we can’t underestimate God and what he’s capable of. We’re super excited to announce that we’re back in person! We’ll be hosting the True Strength FAITH + FITNESS Training Camp this May 14-16 in Miami, FL. Join us for a weekend of fitness, faith, and fun in the sun!
