This morning my friend asked me my thoughts on motivation and meeting our potential. After I shared them I immediately knew this had to be the topic here for today!Drop me a voice note about your takeaways from this: https://speakpipe.com/veganosaurusSign up for my entertaining newsletter: https://www.veganosaurus.com/newsletter
Drop me a voice note about your takeaways from this episode.https://www.spakpipe.com/veganosaurusI decided to record this episode on a whim as my friend Chef Ram & I were on our way to teach vegan cooking to hospitality students. We were having such a nice conversation about changing careers, transforming with the flow of life, and prioritising joy and fulfilment on a daily basis.
This episode of The Feel Good Factor is all about Control vs Power. It never occurred to me to think of them as two separate things. Then I read Katherine Morgan Schafler’s book and my jaw dropped. Wow! It explained so much about why certain things in my business past have worked and why other things were a frustrating mess. I've recently started a habit. Whenever I'm reading a book, if something really pops out at me, I neatly transcribe it into a notebook. Physically writing things down, pen to paper, is such a different experience from copy/pasting an excerpt into your notes app, or highlighting a snippet in your ebook reader. It's been doing some interesting things to my brain, so I had to share my experience with you on this episode, and tell you why you might like to start this habit too. Knowing our natural tendencies, capacities and limitations, accepting them, and making decisions in alignment with them goes a long way to make life smooth and pleasant. Some challenges in life deserve to be taken on, but most challenges are totally unnecessary and so not worth the effort and attention we give them. You don’t have to prove something all the time!Leave me a voice note: https://spakpipe.com/veganosaurusSign up for my fun emails: https://www.veganosaurus.com/newsletter
As small business owners or creators it's very tempting to say yes to all opportunities to collaborate and get exposure. But a lot of these invitations end up being a bloody waste of time! Here's a story about how I learnt this lesson. I hope it helps you pause and weigh the pros and cons before you commit.Get my fun emails: https://www.veganosaurus.com/newsletter
Getting too into our heads is a major cause of first procrastinating, then abandoning new projects, habits, ideas, etc. Listening to a chapter from Oliver Burkeman’s upcoming book, Meditations for Mortals jolted me awake from a slump. So I had to talk about the simple power of just doing something instead of thinking about doing it in this episode! "I want to begin, but first I need to do one more course/some more research." "I can start, but I should get this certificate before that." Does that sound familiar to you? Procrastinating by using learning as an excuse, that's procrasta-learning.I'm all for regularly updating our knowledge!
