Description

From their enclave in midtown Manhattan, Michael Moynihan (Vice), Matt Welch (Reason), and Kmele Foster (Freethink) dissect the news, interrogate guests, and question just about everything. The topics are broad, the insights are deep, and the jokes are off color. Reform the system, or burn it to the ground? They discuss... @wethefifth www.wethefifth.com

She wrote a column in the New York Times. She failed to mention her favorite podcast. She mentioned other podcasts. She texted us asking if she could come on the show to apologize. We agreed. Jack Dorsey or one of your senators?- Should corporations be fact-checking politicians?- Matt explains Section 230- Moynihan rants about journalists being annoying- A guest appearance from Nellie Bowles- A really bad piece about white people and spices- Kmele squeezes in some China/Hong Kong talk- And some good news from Spencer!Recorded: May 27, 2020Published: May 28, 2020 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Bolton isn't going to come forward because he is the anonymous letter writer. that's why he did not show up for the inquiry. if they ask him questions that will show him to be the one, he will have to answer it under oath.

I have some very grave issues with podcast both philosophically and practically. First of all openly putting peoples information on the internet because you disagree with their family members politics is both wrong and stupid. They had no say in what was said, and thus you are using guilt by association. Also it is stupid because it paints you as childish thugs and makes your opponent sympathic. To claim to be a supporter of democracy and rights, but then to encourage the suppression of opponents is hypocrisy. Secondly I have a deeper philosophical issue with the guest. it seems that his work is largely built on a fallacy. Just because most modern democracies are liberal, doesn't mean that a democracy must be liberal. indeed I would argue that many stable states have been non liberal, and there is no reason to think a democracy could not have traditional institutions as well as a non capitalist economy, like a social credit or corporatist system. lastly he seems like his life has poorly equipped him to under why populism is happening. Being a naturalized American citizen, of polish jewish descent with a Harvard degree almost certainly points to a very much elite background. I can shed some light here with my working class background. To put it bluntly, we've been fucked in the ass by every special interest from AIPAC to Monsanto and were sick of it. We live in a system where money buys power and it's killing us, and we see people like mounk (or most establishment politicians) as pissing on our heads and telling us it's raining while CEO's get golden parachutes worth billions.
