Sign me up. But the BMF title on the line. Take my money. Deiveson Figueiredo snapped a two fight losing streak at UFC Rio as well. He took on Monte Jackson, a number 15 ranked bantamweight. Deiveson Figueiredo has changed from his wild days as a fighter that won him the flyweight title in the past. He is much more reserved now. Regardless, he did what he had to do with his wrestling-heavy approach and took home the win. He wants Merab Dvalishvili next but I think Deiveson Figueiredo needs another win. Song Yadong anyone?Joel Alvarez made his welterweight debut at UFC Rio against Vicente Luque, a long time staple of the division. Vicente Luque is a shell of a shell of his former self, that's how far he's gone. Joel Alvarez, as talented as he is, didn't show us much new. We can't put too much stock in a win over Vicente Luque in 2025. Joel Alvarez is lucky he didn't fight Benoit Saint-Denis at lightweight. We need to see more of his wrestling. Jose Aldo made a surprise appearance on the night as well. He was given the chance to make one more walk to the octagon, despite not fighting, in front of the town he is the king of. From dealing with an MMA career to drug addiction and to a toxic relationship, The Smashing Machine struggled with what kind of movie it wanted to be. But in those 80 seconds, Alex Pereira executed a masterful gameplan taking away what made Ankalaev successful in their first fight. Now all eyes are forward and it seems Alex Pereira will have either Carlos Ulberg or Jon Jones next. Merab Dvalishvili is the bantamweight GOAT. The Georgian tied Aljamain Sterling, TJ Dillashaw, and Dominick Cruz for the most bantamweight title defenses. The crazy part: Merab Dvalishvili did it in a year. Is there anything else for Merab Dvalishvili after UFC 320? I don’t see anything. I’m not even confident or excited about Alexandre Pantoja anymore. Merab. Is. King. Jiri Prochazka just Jiri Prochazka-ed his way to a win as well. After getting styled on by Khalil Rountree, Jiri Prochazka blew the roof off of the T-Mobile arena with his third round finish at UFC 320. Khalil Rountree couldn’t handle the chaos and paid the price. Youssef Zalal is a contender and y’all need to stop sleeping on him. He submitted Josh Emmett with an armbar and made his name known against the best featherweight has to offer.

Anthony Hernandez vs. Reinier De Ridder and Nassourdine Imavov vs. Caio Borralho. Now Imavov has made his case for being the next in line. He defeated Caio Borralho in the main event of UFC Paris, snagging a dub in front of his home crowd. But was it enough? Was what he did enough to say that he's the number one contender in the world?Likely not, if we are being honest. Despite Nassourdine Imavov deserving a shot at Dricus Du Plessis over even Chimaev, he's been passed over before for not being the most exciting fighter. Caio Borralho didn't come in looking his best, but Nassourdine Imavov did what he had to do, worked the body, and went home with the win in front of the French faithful.Speaking of France, Benoit Saint-Denis destroyed Mauricio Ruffy in the co-main event. He mauled Ruffy with an electrified French fanbase behind him. Much like Conor McGregor getting mauled by Khabib Nurmagomedov, this fight was eerily similar, down to the face crank finish with one hook in against the fence. Benoit Saint-Denis is a very talented fighter. He's better than most give him credit for, especially after the losses to Dustin Poirier and Renato Moicano. But he's improved since then.Mauricio Ruffy dropped the ball, however. He did not want to be there, in the cage with a fighter like Benoit Saint-Denis and the French fans behind him. The stage was simply too big. The Fighting Nerds were 0-2 on the night and it was Mauricio Ruffy that kicked that off.There was also a Modestas Bukauskas buzzer beater over a retiring Paul Craig, Mason Jones surviving Bolaji Oki's onslaught proving that Welsh is the best base for MMA, and more. Grappling from start to finish, Mateusz Gamrot proved why he was a competitor at ADCC. He has great wrestling but very little power. It allowed him to snag a win over L’udovit Klein anyway. The Pole gave us a scare and PTSD from Jose Aldo not long ago by looking at the clock at 3 minutes to go in round three. But Mateusz Gamrot managed to bite down, secure a takedown and steal the fight.Dustin Jacoby put away Bruno Lopes in round one. Once on a terrible 1-4 skid, Dustin Jacoby has now fended off two Brazilian prospects in a row in Bruno Lopes and Vitor Petrino. Not bad for a crafty veteran. Dustin Jacoby showed us that when you have your opponent hurt, you can pressure without being too aggressive and getting out of position.Zach Reese, oh what propaganda he was. Once upon a time, I felt like Zach Reese was a future contender. But it seems as if he’s having an identity crisis after his last loss. His gas tank was dreadful at UFC Vegas 107. But he did show improved wrestling. It’s time to bring the mullet back, however. D1 Zach Reese is no fun. I want the chaos back. Screw the losses, entertain.

At UFC Vegas 106, he knocked off a long-time contender in Gilbert Burns. That said, none of the questions that many had about Michael Morales before the fight were answered. How's his cardio? Grappling? All of these will need to be answered before Michael Morales even thinks of taking on the division's best. What if he fights a Shavkat Rakhmonov or Ian Machado Garry? There is still much to prove for Michael Morales that we need answered. As for Gilbert Burns, washed. He crumbled at the first sign of things not going his way. Maybe it's time to revisit his already-legendary grappling career.Marion Santos also had a tough fight in front of him, though not Gilbert Burns level. He took on the perennial contender Sodiq Yusuff. This fight showed that the young Marion Santos is a promising prospect that deserves eyes on him. UFC Vegas 106 marked his coming for many of the UFC faithful watching him for the first time. Sodiq Yusuff is a tough task and a rite of passage for some. Marion Santos handled it with ease and managed to get out relatively unscathed.Nursultan Ruziboev took on a very game Dustin Stoltzfus at UFC Vegas 106. He was brought to the brink and into very deep waters. While Nursultan Ruziboev has many fans eyes on him, this fight showed some of his limitations. That said, he also knows where to improve from here. Dustin Stoltzfus is a good fighter who presents hard challenges as a catch wrestler. Now we can see if Nursultan Ruziboev can put together any of the combination punching that we'd like to see. Melquizael Costa and Julian Erosa had a banger of a fight. While not technical, this one was just pure dumb fun. Sometimes we need that, just not in the APEX. Both Melquizael Costa and Julian Erosa had a hard fought battle that earned them Fight of the Night. Melquizael Costa won the fight and Erosa was sent packing.

Jack Della Maddalena will have to take on the top pound for pound fighter in he world next (likely) if he hopes to stay the king.Belal Muhammad made some mistakes at UFC 315. While Jack Della Maddalena did fight a near perfect fight, the insistence on boxing early really hurt Belal Muhammad. Not wrestling early hurt and even if he did, Jack Della Maddalena looked great in defending. Now Belal Muhammad is at the back of the queue, behind Islam Makhachev, Sean Brady, and Shavkat Rakhmonov. Valentina Shevchenko proved me wrong and took a tough win over Manon Fiorot. I thought UFC 315 would be the arrival of a new champ and the ousting of an old one. But Valentina Shevchenko came out, got behind, and still fought to win her fight, despite bein down. All in all, Manon Fiorot didn’t fight terribly. But she lacked the experience to defeat Valentina Shevchenko over five rounds. All this said, Valentina Shevchenko is bad.UFC 315 is (supposedly) the last time we see Jose Aldo in the cage. After nearly finishing Aiemann Zahabi in the third round, Jose Aldo sprinted across he cage, trying to finish the fight. Cool? Yes. But Jose Aldo was looking up at the clock and seeing there were three minutes left. That was the moment when Jose Aldo gave up. Goodbye, Jose Aldo, one of the GOAT’s.

Teofimo Lopez showed what a great boxer is. Devin Haney showed all that a boxer shouldn’t be.Canelo Alvarez also let us down. But that’s not truly his fault. William Scull fought like a coward all night. Canelo Alvarez hasn’t been great in his last few fights. But this fight was him trying to fight a track star that didn’t want to fight. The fact that William Scull even had a title was atrocious. Now we look forward to Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford. Finally, Naoya Inoue and Ramon Cardenas put on a real show. After dropping his foe in the first round, all eyes were put on Ramon Cardenas. But “The Monster” could not be denied. Naoya Inoue settled in and worked Cardenas down. It was the eighth round that Naoya Inoue finally put Ramon Cardenas away.

No more Santiago Ponzinibbio please. He was beat up by an equally as old Daniel Rodriguez and it’s evident his body wants no more. Santiago Ponzinibbio was once thought as vicious. But time hasn’t been his friend. Another quality win for Gillian Robertson. She’s grown up before our eyes and is now a bonafide contender. Marina Rodriguez was on her way out. What a better gift than to give Gillian Robertson her ranking at UFC Des Moines.

Ian Machado Garry is a bonafide contender at 170.Carlos Prates deserves all the boring blame for the main event of UFC Kansas City. His inability to deal with what Ian Machado Garry presented. He looked for one thing and couldn’t solve the problem presented to him. With the biggest opportunity of his career to date, Carlos Prates came up short. That’s not a detriment. Just a set back for Carlos Prates.Anthony Smith finally hung up the gloves. Long overdue, Anthony Smith took on Chinese heavy hitter Mingyang Zhang for his final fight. It did not go well. Anthony Smith started off strong but eventually reverted to curling up onto a ball on the floor in his own blood. It was long time for Anthony Smith to retire. Let’s look at his legacy.Don’t let Abus Magomedov fool you. He does not have better cardio just yet. He beat Michel Pereira who is also known to have terrible cardio. He just stunk less.
