School is back in session and students are eager to get started on the right foot!  Finding a tutor to mentor you through the learning process may be just what you need.  Here are some tips to help you navigate finding the perfect tutor to meet your needs.
With all of the uncertainty regarding the 2020-2021 school year, I can tell you one thing for certain... I will deliver the best possible education to my students.  I choose to harness the emotion of fear and reframe it as excitement.  That excitement will continue to propel me to grow and develop superior educational experiences for my students.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of B-R-E-A-K is “an interruption in continuity.” The definition of B-R-A-K-E is “something used to slow down or stop movement or activity”.  We need to remind ourselves that summer break is simply an interruption to the prescribed educational plan set by the government or higher education.  It is NOT a brake to slow down or stop movement or activity!!!   Our bodies need an interruption greatly, but they don’t want to completely shut down.  We are alive!  Shutting down is not living!  Our bodies, brains, and souls are hungry for more.  What we really need to do over the summer is the complete opposite of braking.  We need to accelerate!  We need to immerse ourselves into developing who we are.  We need to define our purpose and then we need to take steps toward fulfilling that purpose.
The coveted "A" continues to sabotage the learning process.  Instead of focusing on acquiring knowledge and skills, students have been reduced to chasing an "A" by any means necessary. How do we break this cycle and refocus the purpose of education?
The US is one of the only countries that has not officially converted to the metric system.  With the government, science, technology, and medicine primarily using the metric system already, why does the US continue to stall on full metrication? We need to work together globally to better humanity, to innovate, and to reach beyond our current physical and intellectual spot in this universe. Help be the person that makes the difference. Support the US conversion to the metric system.
Have you ever looked at someone and said "You are so much smarter than I am"?  I am here to make it clear that this statement is more than just false.  It is sabotaging your potential by even thinking it!  Help me break this cycle and create a society where we value ourselves and each other by not putting limits on our abilities with unfounded statements.
There are short-term and long-term benefits to showing your work in physics class (as well as many other classes).  Appreciating both types of benefits will empower you to take control of your learning now so you can create the future of your dreams.
If we want to create change in this world, we need to start by opening our eyes, educating ourselves, and analyzing one problem at a time. I believe that education is the key to creating change.  And I believe that physics plays a critical role.
