Description

The Flop House is a comedy podcast devoted to the worst in recent film. Your hosts (Elliott Kalan, Dan McCoy, and Stuart Wellington) watch a questionable film, then engage in an unscripted discussion about the movie's shortcomings and occasional delights, while never being afraid of a pointless, silly digression or two hundred.

Yet again, we steal a few hours Jamelle could be using to write something smart for The New York Times, to discuss his REAL passion: movies about hedgehogs. Yes, Sonic 2 was a big hit with mixed reviews, but how good is it really? The answer may not surprise you! We welcome our old friend Zhubin Parang back to the main feed after years of only joining us for our FlopTales RPG series (available as bonus content for Max Fun members: join here!) -- and for such an auspicious return we had to pick an extra-special movie: Madame Web, which some have hailed as the "Cats" of superhero movies. Does it reach those heights? Who knows. But it's surely the most enjoyably-silly of Sony's Spider-Man without Spider-Man universe. We hope you enjoy it, and thanks to all who support us by becoming a member of Maximum Fun during this Max Fun Drive.Do you live in or around BROOKLYN, NEW YORK or OXFORD, ENGLAND? We’ve got upcoming LIVE SHOWS for you! Stuart was antipodes-bound, for his Australian rambles, when we taped this one, but fear not! In his absence we recruited Hallie Haglund, noted STAR OF THE SHOW to discuss Cat Person with us, and thank god we did, because left to our own devices, we doubt that two dudes would be quite as effective at exploring the dissection of gender w/r/t hetero dating relationships that Cat Person brings to the table (straight from the hit New Yorker short story of the same name). We're gearing up for Max Fun Drive pretty soon (3/18-29), so as a reminder of why you love us so SO much, instead of a regularly-scheduled mini we're dropping ANOTHER full live episode from our recent west coast tour! This one was taped at the Aladdin in Portland, in front of one of the hottest crowds we've ever been blessed with, discussing one of the silliest movies we've ever discussed -- the Vanilla Ice starrer Cool As Ice!Wikipedia page for Cool as IceHere's a special, (limited time) deal for our listeners. Ep.#417 - Exorcist: Believer

It takes a brave creative team to give Exorcist II: The Heretic a run for its money as worst "Exorcist" film, but at least part two was lovably batshit and a work of care and pearsonal vision, even if that vision was really weird. Exorcist: Believer on the other hand? Oof. Re casserole as an onion delivery method: I have some vague memory of the reason we have so many recipes using huge amounts of onions was due to a scam artist who manipulated the stock market a long time ago by buying all the onions and storing them instead of selling them.

I know they were forced into a format change due to get studios STILL continuing to refuse to agree to not try to starve writers and actors, but I actually really like these. I hope when the strike ends, they'll do one a month or something

For me, it was seeing Keene, NH, downtown's weird messed up traffic circle and the first ever (totally illegal for zoning, former office building) apartment I lived in, in the background, at the start of Jumanji

OMG, Dan did the thing the Floppers (especially Eliot) mock things like Sherlock, House, etc, for doing when he heard Stuart say "around" and that prompted Dan to figure out he was trying to remember "a round."
