We’ve broken Episode 8 into a THREE part series. Our guest, Trevor Ellerman gave us so much great content, we thought we’d deliver it back to you in digestible chunks!
Episode 1 will focus on Trev’s beginning days in Redcliff as a junior golfer who also played some high level hockey. He had the unique challenge of bouncing back and forth across a few sports at high levels and is likely the only person to be the MVP in the CIAU finals and be an assistant golf pro at the same time.
Trev will share some great stories in this episode - be prepared to hear some names you haven’t heard in a long, long time!
Please be sure to join us for Episode 2, where we’ll focus more on Desert Blume, what it is like to be an owner and what it was like taking over a golf course during COVID.
Episode 3 will be a chance to hear some future thoughts about the golf course and of course just lots of talk about golf.

We've taken a bit of a fall break but are back with our first "Book Club" episode. This is where Troy, Sheldon and Corey gather, sans guest, and chat about ideas. Most are golf related, some are just about random topics. We are recording a few of these to see what the response is with a goal of keeping the show going in between our great guests.
These ones will generally shorter, easily digestible shows, hope you enjoy the episode!
In Part 2 we jump right into the mid-amateur story. We get to hear the raw blow by blow of a guy on the verge of a huge win and encountering a couple of the most unlucky breaks imaginable.
What are the lessons to take from this, how did he bounce back, did he bounce back? What is next for Ryan in his competitive golf career? All of those answers and more in part two!
Ryan is a former NCAA standout at University of Texas San Antonio. Now back in Medicine Hat, he and his wife Sarah have a young son and Ryan works as a Real Estate agent.

Ryan is a former NCAA standout at University of Texas San Antonio. Now back in Medicine Hat, he and his wife Sarah have a young son and Ryan works as a Real Estate agent.
It’s clear that competition drives Ryan’s passion and he continues to compete at a high level here in Alberta and in Canada, having represented Team Alberta at the Canadian mid-Amateur championships.
Part 1 sets the stage for Ryan’s transition back to amateur golf and the highs and lows experienced there. Be sure to listen to both episodes!

Episode 6 focuses on attending a Major Championship. We know we are well past major season, but thinking this is the time of year that average people start thinking about booking a trip. Dave Ridgedale ('99 Sr. Open, '19 Open), Tim Bloomfield ('17 Masters, '24 PGA) and Troy Bartman ('15 Open) share their thoughts on the ins and outs of attending a major golf tournament.
Hear about weather, about being in Northern Ireland when an Irishman wins. Hear about getting access and what you can expect or maybe what you can dream of... Hear about the number one player in the world on the chiro table and another number one getting his mug shot.
We'd love to hear your comments not only on this episode, but sharing your own experiences and your own recommendations!

We’ve broken Episode 5 into a two part series. In this episode, Dillon Batsel joins us to talk about a very special round of golf. But before we get to that magical round we learn a ton about the person that Dillon is, what drives him and just how passionate he is about golf. You thought you loved golf, wait until you hear Dillon talk.
Dillon is a former NCAA standout at Jacksonville University in Florida. He continues to compete at a level here in Canada and has been named Player of the Year in Alberta and led the order of merit.
He completed his MBA and works at the Medicine Hat College as both an instructor in the business faculty and serves as the program’s golf coach. In the summer he works as an Assistant Pros at Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat where is a sought after golf instructor.
We think people will really enjoy part 1 of this episode as it sets the stage for the ultimate story that we will release next week - a blow by blow of how Dillon shot 58 (with a penalty stroke!) on a blustery Men’s Night at Desert Blume.

Episode 4 is out and Tim Hall joins the crew to talk about all the unique characters you meet in this game. His longtime connection to Redcliff and the Riverview Club gave him a front row seat to plenty of shenanigans.
Timmy, the self-proclaimed funniest man in Alberta (if not Canada) brings his clever wit and cheerful spirit and will have you giggling. Like, out loud. He’s crossed paths with some very interesting people - just watch our reels and we don’t even get to the part where he caddied in the World Blind Golfers Championship in South Africa.
Tim may have a very closed setup but has an open heart. He’ll share his insights into sim golf and how he has become a generous host to many. Enjoy the show!

In episode 3 Kevin Fuhrmann joins the pod to talk about his love/hate relationship with the game. A natural athlete who played high levels of hockey and baseball, Kevin eventually turned to competitive bodybuilding. While he underplays his accomplishments there, he quite obviously and visibly puts the rest of us to shame.
Kevin uses golf to feed his competitive drive, which as you will hear, is a bit of a double edge sword for him. His desire to be better balanced against a fear of never getting there has him doing some deep reflection.
In the end, this really is a podcast for everyone. While you will hear the same great stories the show is known for sharing, you will also get to explore that vulnerable side of the game. The one where a gallery has gathered around you on the first tee or the last green. And the pressure, real or perceived, is there and you want to perform. Join us to hear how Kevin feels he is doing!

Steve Pahl and Ryan Dorton join Corey and Troy to talk about their recent trip to Bandon, Oregon. We will chat about the entire experience from the travel company to the food to the travel arrangements. And of course we will talk a lot about the golf, the courses, the caddies, the weather and mostly the great memories. Be sure to visit our youtube page to check out the companion film!
In this, our inaugural episode, we bring mystery guest Darren MacMillan to the studio. Darren has spent a good portion of his career as a math teacher and most recently has served as the Director of Enhanced Programming for Prairie Rose School Division. This has been an opportunity for him to show off his organizational skills while being at the heart of establishing several academies.
Darren has played a lot of hockey in his life and at some high levels. His family is well woven into the hockey world whether that be in the WHL, NCAA and even the NHL. In his downtime from work and working out, Mac likes to spend some time on the golf course. A 10 handicap at the time of this recording, he has an interesting enough game to be significantly lower or higher than that on any given day!
We will cover a lot of ground in this episode, from why we play golf to rec hockey to sitcom pilots. We hope you enjoy the show and if you do, please like, share and subscribe to the podcast. We will have regular episodes coming out!
