In the 1850’s, thirty-thousand cuneiform tablets and fragments were excavated from the site of Assyrian King Ashurbanipal’s royal library in Ninevah. Sunday, August 4, 2002, 39-year-old Pennsylvania hunter and outdoorsman Todd Sees wakes before dawn and decides to go deer spotting on Montour Ridge, a mountain range behind his home in Point Township, Northumberland County. He leaves home at 5:00 am, telling his wife he’ll be back by noon, and drives his ATV up a tree break where a powerline runs. Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky! Today the gang tackles The Monster of Elizabeth Lake! A truly bizarre tale near Christian & Scott's old stomping grounds in California. Although there have been no reported sightings since the 1880's, there were a few from 1830 all the way up to 1886. The creature has been described as having bat wings, the neck of a giraffe, the head of a bulldog, six legs, a length of at least fifty feet, and emit a horrible nauseating stench (what a stud, amirite?). Several ranchers and owners of land around Elizabeth Lake abandoned or sold their property at losses to get away from the beast. Supposedly Spanish missionaries dubbed the lake Laguna del Diablo and Native American Legend also supports the rumors that the Devil created the lake. Today the gang tackles the Mysterious Nightmare Deaths of over 100 Hmong Refugees during the Late 70’s & 80’s.   During the 1970s and 1980s, many of the Southeast Asians were not able to worship properly due to the guerrilla war against the government of Laos with the United States. Hmong people believe that when they do not worship properly, do not perform religious ritual properly or forget to sacrifice, the ancestor spirits or the village spirits do not protect them, thus allowing the evil spirit to reach them. These attacks induce a nightmare that leads to sleep paralysis when the victim is conscious and experiencing pressure on the chest. It is also common to have a REM state that is out of sequence where there is a mix of brain states that are normally held separate. After the war, the United States government scattered the Hmong across the country to 53 different cities.  Once these nightmare visitations began, a shaman was recommended for psychic protection from the spirits of their sleep. However, scattered across 53 different cities, these victims had no access to any or the right shaman to protect them from this syndrome. Hmong people believed that rejecting the role of becoming a shaman, they are taken into the spirit world. Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky! Today the gang tackles the eerily spooky legend of Le Lechuza Bruja, the Owl Witch of Mexican/Hispanic folklore, as well as other examples of half woman / half bird hybrids found throughout history. Lechuza are either shape-shifting witches or spirits in Hispanic folklore. Tales of Lechuza are quite popular in Mexico and Texas. A human-sized bird with a woman's face, Lechuza are women who have sold their souls to the devil in exchange for magical powers. At night, they transform into monsters with a bird's body and a woman's face, similar to depictions of harpies in Greek mythology. They then fly through the night in search of prey. When a Lechuza finds her target she will perch in a location where she can't easily be seen and then will make either strange whistles or the sound of an infant crying. Anyone who attempts to determine where the sound is coming from is at risk of becoming Lechuza's dinner. Lechuza will then swoop down and carry off the confused and horrified individual. In some versions of the story, the Lechuza is the spirit of a witch who was murdered by locals. Her spirit returns in the form of the bird-monster to get revenge. Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky! Today the gang tackles Bob Lazar and his claims of examining and reverse engineering alien technology. Bob Lazar is an American conspiracy theorist who claims to have been hired in the late 1980s to reverse-engineer extraterrestrial technology at what he described as a secret site called "S-4". Lazar alleges that this subsidiary installation is located several kilometres south of the United States Air Force facility popularly known as Area 51. Lazar claims he examined an alien craft that ran on an antimatter reactor powered by element 115, which at the time had not yet been synthesized. He also claims to have read US government briefing documents that described alien involvement in human affairs over the past 10,000 years. Lazar's claims resulted in bringing added public attention to Area 51 and fueling conspiracy theories surrounding its classified activities. Lazar's story has since been analyzed and rejected by skeptics and some ufologists. Universities from which he claims to hold degrees show no record of him, and supposed former workplaces have disavowed him. In 1990, he was convicted for his involvement in a prostitution ring and again in 2006 for selling illegal chemicals. There are without a doubt countless benefits to social media. Whether it be connecting with friends and family keep in touch from around the globe, or helping small businesses spread the word about their brands.
