Description

Since 2011, the Freelance Jungle has been meeting the gaps within and the people within the Australian freelance scene. Part social club, part online forum and all heart, it’s on a mission to end the isolation, raise the knowledge bar and remind freelancers everywhere stress has a productivity cost. This is that mission in podcast form. Hosted by Nicole Leedham and Freelance Jungle founder, Rebekah Lambert, the sounds of the freelance jungle can be heard as they explore issues, ideas and what it means to be self-employed in Australia.

COVID is having a lot of side effects in Australia right now. With VIC and NSW in lockdown, QLD only just out, and a whole continuing soup of uncertainty, it's difficult keeping your head straight. What's even more difficult is looking after your clients as they struggle to keep theirs in the right spot. In this podcast, Rebekah and Nicole take you through tips and tricks with managing your freelance clients when they have the COVID-crankies. Includes info on when to assert boundaries, exercise compassion and strategies to make client management that little bit easier.
EOFY is upon us- and for some of us, this is a really stressful time. With the added complexity of COVID impacts such as JobSeeker, JobKeeper and working from home, as well as write offs and so on, it might seem like a big task. That’s why we’re digging into what to be mindful of with this year’s return. We talk to accountant Melissa North from Nationwide Bookkeeping and Accountants Service in Brisbane about the potential tripping points for Australian freelancers this year.  Please remember that the information given in this podcast is not a replacement for seeking professional advice from your bookkeeper, accountant and/or the ATO. What we’ll discuss today should be a starting point to begin your research. And as always, remember that your financial situation and how you approach tax and accounting should be tailored to your unique business circumstances. Make sure you do your due diligence and discuss your situation in detail with a professional you trust.
