Description

Comic writer Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, Scarlet Spider, TMNT, New Warriors, Marvel Action Spider-Man... and more) and cartoonist Ethan Colchamiro discuss the cinematic appearances of your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (and any other topics that grab their brains.) Yes, we know we're not the first ones in this pool. It'll be okay.

This isn't a full, in-depth look like we've done with the other Spidey movies so far (we'll need a copy we can pause for that!) but after two years of pandemic, Ethan and Erik had to geek out about the pure joy of returning to the theater to watch the web-slinger sling webs once more in this, the capper to the Homecoming trilogy. In honor of the new year, we also talk some of our favorite New Beginnings for Spider-Man in the comics. And if you wonder, YES, there will be spoilers aplenty in this episode.
Hosts Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham decided to split off their post-movie wrap to its own episode, mostly because Erik gets twitchy when any one episode gets TOO long.  It was recorded in June 2021, but we wisely took out all of our No Way Home speculation after seeing that film. HAPPY 2022, WEBHEADS!
Ethan and Erik discuss the last quarter of Spider-Man Homecoming and -- since Erik took so DANG LONG to edit this episode, they also have a new holiday themed comics talk -- our favorite Spider-Man Christmas stories! Plus hype for the forthcoming No Way Home and reactions to the first teaser for Across The Spider-Verse Part One!
Ethan and Erik discuss Spidey-related news from the entertainment world (cartoons, movie casting, and something cool down at Disney's Avengers Campus); the third section of Spider-Man Homecoming, and top it all off discussing Marvel Team-Up #13, where Spider-Man and Captain America face the Grey Gargoyle!
Ethan and Erik continue their discussion of Peter Parker's first full-length MCU adventure, starting with the party at Liz's and going all the way towards the Academic Decathlon. They also talk about the first meeting of Spidey and Iron Man in the comics, something that didn't happen until 1973's Marvel Team Up #9!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham dive into the first quarter of Tom Holland's first feature-length foray into the MCU as Spider-Man, as well as having a freewheeling discussion on Adrian Toomes: The Vulture.
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham celebrate their one year podiversary talking Spider-Man: No Way Home rumors, and also -- because they can! -- talking other MCU projects including the most recent Disney+ titles (both of which tangentially connect to our favorite webslinger!) Join us as we start Year Two with a nice palate cleanser so our hosts can get back into the swing of things! (Pun totally intended.)
The end of 2020 is nigh, and Ethan Colchamiro & Erik Burnham have finally reached the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Webhead's MCU debut is covered here in this standalone episode, along with a few minutes' worth of chat about the notion of Spider-Man as a team player. It's good to be back!
A very quiet -- but very weird -- section of ASM2, with moves made against Harry Osborn, Gwen having uncanny travel planning skills, and the magic bike shorts of Electro. Also: Aunt May discovers Peter Parker's Pepe Silvia wall, and hosts Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham even find time to discuss the first Amazing Spider-Man annual, the story that introduced the Sinister Six to the Marvel Universe.
Erik and Ethan rediscover the joys and pain of the second quarter of Amazing Spider-Man 2. So many odd choices, and yet, perhaps one of their favorite scenes in any Spidey movie, all in one 30 minute chunk. And we get an in-depth break down of the comic book history of the shocking villain known as Max Dillion, aka Electro!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham have made it to the back half of the Amazing Spider-Man duology, ASM 2. They talk about the stuff they love a lot and maybe a little less so, and definitely name check a certain Dark Knight's 1995 film outing. There's also the first listener voicemail, much to Ethan's joy. Check it on out!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham wrap their discussion of Marc Webb's first film in his Amazing Spider-Man duology. What was hot? What was not? What would they do differently? They also break down the comic-book Amazing Spider-Man #90 "And Death Shall Come" featuring the shocking demise of Capt. George Stacy. Tune in, true believers!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham discuss the third quarter of 2012's Amazing Spider-Man film, and chase that with a discussion of Curt Connors' villainous alter ego's exploits in the Marvel Comics!
Erik Burnham and Ethan Colchamiro return to bring you the second quarter of 2012's Amazing Spider-Man. You want quips? We got quips. You want mechanical web shooters? We got mechanical web shooters. And do our hosts think Spidey's redesigned costume is amazing? Tune in for all that and an in-depth breakdown of every villain created by Steve Ditko. Is your favorite one of their favorites? Find out!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham are back to live action with Andrew Garfield's debut in the red & blues as The Amazing Spider-Man. Catch up with the boys as they discuss the first quarter of the reboot, as well as talk which obscure comic villains they'd pitch as a villain for the next Spidey film with input from out listeners. Also find out the results to our Twitter poll on ASM's best addition to the movie mythos!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham are back with a nice little palate cleanser featuring discussion on the 1981 Spider-Man cartoon series Spider-Man AND Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends! As a special bonus, Ethan showed off his GarageBand skills and edited this episode himself, so give him a hand and let's dive in...
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham wrap their discussion of Sam Raimi's final Spider-Man film; in the comic book section they discuss Spidey's black costume; one of the most successful costume replacements in comics!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham continue their discussion of Sam Raimi's 2007 opus Spider-Man 3, and the third quarter of the film is absolutely packed. Meanwhile, in the comics portion of FNWH they briefly discuss the many teams The Sandman has been part of over the last sixty years. (You may notice this episode is a little shorter -- it wasn't meant to be, but Ethan was looking to fit in another viewing of Hamilton before the weekend.)
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham discuss the second quarter of Spider-Man 3, debate the pros and cons of changing Spider-Man's origin to make Flint Marko the man who murdered Uncle Ben, and talk about Venom in the comics. Is Ethan's theory on what Venom is to Spider-Man right on the money? Let us know!
Ethan Colchamiro and Erik Burnham have finally reached the most divisive movie of Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy: Spider-Man 3! The first quarter of the film is discussed, as well as some comics chat about Harry Osborn's Marvel history, the results of our latest Twitter poll, and all the tangents you've come to expect from. There was even room to talk about a Spider-Man 2 observation that was missed during the initial recording!
