This week is our 50th Episode! This week we have our usual storm watch with Liv half hoping we get to storm Olivia and the usual Telly Talk. Highlights include: Booksmart, The Trial of Christine Keeler and both of us have some odd discoveries, from the Icelandic Eurovision entry to Julian Simmons introducing Coronation Street back in 1998. Our main topic this week is books, we go through everything we have been reading (and not finishing it Liv’s case) in the last 6 months. We for the first time (definitely not the last) get to hear from you, our lovely listeners and find out what you have been reading too. Once again we’d really like to thank you for all your emails and audio clips. This week we have our first (hopefully monthly) Fridge Fantasy section where we discuss all the delicious things we’ve been cooking recently. Highlights include Liv’s husband Joe’s attempt at a pasta bake dish and Charlotte’s deep dive into the world of Linda McCartney products. Also we talk about everything we’ve been watch in Telly Talk. Our main topic this week is Weddings. We’ve talked about hem in past episodes but this week we wanted to talk about everything we’ve learned about wedding planning, dresses, food and venues. After seven months away we are back, with a bang or not is for you to decide. This episode we catch you up on everything we have been watching since we’ve been away....warning it's *a lot*. We take you through all the great TV we’ve seen with highlights including The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, Sex Education and we find out what each of our comfort blanket shows are. Liv even gets her Love Island minute, sort of. We also discuss all the great films we've been watching too, including our forever favourite Paddington 2, Marriage Story and we have a discussion which reaches peak shrill levels about Blinded by the Light, a jukebox musical featuring the music of Bruce Springsteen. We’re back! We took a longer break than planned over Christmas and the New Year but are now ready to go. This week we have a unofficial guest, our friend Carrie (Wish Wish Wish), which we think adds rather a nice dimension to our real life girls night when we recorded. We talk about A LOT of TV, last count was 15 different shows and films...it’s safe to say we’ve been been making the most of the hibernation season. We discuss everything from Mary Poppins Returns, Torvil & Dean and then question the latest Ted Bundy Netflix offering and question whether a platform should be given to the same people and crimes. Liv watches Charlotte’s favourite film, and Liv shares her TV guilty pleasure (Flirty Dancing anyone?!) Episode twenty six this series is a special one for us, as this season it marks the first with a very special guest- with our first being none other than the wonderful Gina Martin. Discussing everything from activism, changing the law and even knowing where to begin- we talk about everything from the House of Lords to As Seen On Screen, with some serious inspiration thrown in for good measure. Naturally, there's also extensive GBBO talk, with a sprinkling of wedding chatter and orangutan thrown in for good measure.Things Mentioned:The Insecure Girls' Club: http://bit.ly/2xh9ajcMrs Hinch on Instagram: http://bit.ly/2Ngaj4HTHAT Amazon Arm Toner: https://amzn.to/2pcWdCHCabbages and Roses: http://bit.ly/2NjTJ3AShrimps x Habitat: http://bit.ly/2OsbKtdAnd Our Guest:Gina on Instagram: http://bit.ly/2NiiCwzGina on Twitter: http://bit.ly/2NhalJfGina's Website: http://bit.ly/2CZ8ioFMunroe Bergdorf: http://bit.ly/2OrTXlPGina's Crowd Funding: http://bit.ly/2NO8J9l Hosted on Acast. We told you we wouldn't be gone for long, didn't we! This week is a *very* special bonus episode with none other than podcaster, activist, mental health ambassador and writer Gemma Styles. With today being publication day of her debut book, Why Am I Like This? We pulled Gemma into our virtual living room and made sure we covered everything from coping with comparison and the spotlight effect, managing authenticity online, setting boundaries and why being a human is actually pretty hard (and joyful, and weird and wonderful- naturally, but CRIKEY it's tricky sometimes). In a turn of events, we also enter what can only be described as our Stressful TV Era, Charlotte is caught off guard by the funeral in Four Weddings (...and a Funeral) and we discuss the best frozen sweet pastry out there (nope, t's not a croissant) and being new to Gru (we'll let you decide if that's cool or not)! If you’d like to make some unstressful TV suggestions (all about balance)- you can email us at thefringeofit@gmail.com. We’re also over @thefingeofit and @charlottejacklin and @livpurvis and will see you very soon!Gemma's brilliant book is available from today, and you can pick it up here! https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/why-am-i-like-this-gemma-styles/7665116(also, this is brilliant Lucy we mentioned! https://www.instagram.com/lucysheridan/?hl=en) Hosted on Acast. As Shania Twain once said- looks like we made it! It’s the final episode of the series, and we go out with a big chocolatey bang (without giving anything away… ahem). From car MOT’s resembling Grease (or not), an inbox worthy of a dreamy scene with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks and a very exciting Blue Peter badge hack (for the first time in TOFI history this *could* be a ‘You Heard it Here FIRST')- there’s a lot to get to your teeth into this week, and that’s before we delve into Have I Got Food For You! It’s been a delight of a series, so thank you so much for joining us- you’re all truly the best, and remember- see it, say it, compliment it! It’s only a little back to school holiday we’re taking *but* as always, we love to hear from you (and would love a full ol’ postbag upon our return). If you’d like to send any celebrity cake gossip to us (as well as songs worthy of TikTok dances, good housekeeping hacks and everything in-between)- you can email us at thefringeofit@gmail.com. We’re also over @thefingeofit and @charlottejacklin and @livpurvis in the meantime! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It’s the penultimate episode of series 2, and this week The Fringe of It goes to the Fringe! Taking us on a rollercoaster of culture- it’s a buffet of comedy, crying and cabaret as well as a beautiful one woman monologue about Love is Blind (courtesy of Charlotte, sadly not performed at the Fringe… yet). Charlotte and Liv also delve into pressing matters such as bringing back liquid eyeliner and why women complimenting each other on their outfits is an integral part of serotonin sharing in our society. There’s also pan slammingly good cookies, a dessert we *all* need to be adding to our repertoires and an introduction to hip and fresh new artist… Dua Lipa!! You heard it here first! Or last! If your life has been changed by discovering Dua or you have a bakery worth shouting from the rooftops about, we very much would love to know- please send us your map-pinned pastries over to thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for high quality collages and a lovely carousel (if you’re lucky) of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too @fringeofit. It’s a late night edition of The Fringe of It this week. And by late night we mean it was recorded at 9pm on Saturday, way past Liv and Charlotte’s bedtimes, resulting in giddiness and the human equivalent of dog zoomies. Liv delves into her mad week which contained: a chic work trip, playing tennis with a certain Wimbledon winner, and a throwback to a childhood phenomenon that she struggled to cope with. Charlotte discusses her recent Vinted haul, the details of which lead to Liv nearly choking on her tea. There’s also a bumper dive into the mailbag to read your lovely correspondence. Stick around for some delicious book recommendations, more info on a listener’s Bridget Jones themed party, and there may even be a spreadsheet of all things Fringe of It*!*Spoiler Alert: there is a spreadsheet, and it’s a thing of beauty!! You can check it out here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xDG2k60LM7b2sGZV-JYF9V4HbhaYSB2bYaMvW8yo6KY/edit?gid=0#gid=0 (Thanks again Louise, you’re a star!)Keep sending your recommendations, thoughts, and everything in between to thefringeofit@gmail.com, we absolutely love receiving your messages! Wondering about what cereal to buy next? Do nothing until you’ve listened to this episode. Liv discusses her favourite chocolate granolas, and we really get into the merits of a good salad, in particular, the importance of it being well-dressed. Colin from Accounts gets some high praise, and there are some dates for your diary in the form of returning classic TV shows that have got us feeling autumnal in spirit. Liv does a chocolate Marmalade taste test live on air, and we discuss THOSE biscuits from M&S, and the merits of snacking standing up. We share your book recommendations, reminisce over school PE bags and discover the joys of silent disco. If you’ve got some neighbourhood gossip, a must-have snack or TV show, or just some general chit-chat, email us at thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for even more shenanigans, join us over on IG @fringeofit. This week Charlotte and Liv are looking to the little (and larger) joys of the summer months- with a hot weather medley to get stuck into. Diving straight in with their summer reads and the gateway book that finally rescued Charlotte from her Book Drought 2024, we go from the best reads to the Olympics in one, erm, pole vault and will begin campaigning for pottery painting to be at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. There’s also big talk of chemise summer (what else could one possibly be wearing?!), why men simply can’t help themselves around barbecues and a Miranda Priestly style lecture on the now infamous Charli XCX slime green. So whether you’re listening from the back of the bus or the edge of the ocean- hopefully you know there’s a big ol’ squeeze of joy to be found wherever you are this summer. If your life has been changed by a new musical discovery, we very much want to know- please send us your West End anthems (and everything else) over at thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for high quality collages and a lovely carousel (if you’re lucky) of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too @fringeofit Hosted on Acast. Is a Bruce Bogtrotter summer the new brat girl summer? What do gym bros *really* have playing in their ears? And will Charlotte ever complete another two-step authentication ever again? A week of big questions and phone updates- all alongside Liv’s acting debut and why she never did quite make it to the bright lights of the West End (a question on, well, actually, nobody’s lips). We also delve into the importance of healing our inner teenagers, why complimenting strangers should be our weekly homework and a vision of smokin’ Austin Butler doing bin bag adverts (if the podcast doesn’t go much further consider us A+ casting directors!) Naturally, we’re after all your dreamy picnic picky bit recommendations, the best/wildest food reviews you’ve read and truly whatever you fancy- we love it all! If you like, you can drop us a line over at thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for high quality collages and a lovely carousel (if you’re lucky) of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too @fringeofit Hosted on Acast. Nostalgia and Anxiety* are back for another catch up, and this week we’re hankering after our very own Andrew Scott summer (Taylor? Kylie? Go on then!) Diving into the big terrestrial TV toss up that was presented earlier in the week before onto a formal introduction to what Liv deems as the very best biscuits of all time- we hope you’re ready for some serious ground to be covered. Plus, we also veer into old school life advice, the sheer amount that can be done with vinegar and kindly request your Woman’s-Weekly-esque tip offs and recommendations please and thank you! For your home cleaning hacks, song recommendations and, well, whatever you fancy- we truly love hearing from you! You can drop us a line over at thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for high quality collages and a lovely carousel (if you’re lucky) of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too @fringeofit*nul points for who enjoyed Inside Out! Ahoy there! Wasting not but a second before delving into grand garden reveals, it’s straight into bulb catch ups before Charlotte *finally* dips her toe into One Day (spoilers and waterworks ahead) and Liv starts fancying herself as a film critic. Is this the end of the Mamma Mia 2 chapter?! Only time will tell!* There’s also an important discussion about weatherproof footwear, a magical Cotswold’s shopping spot and Liv wonders, importantly, if she just simply hasn’t got thick enough skin to be a fashion girlie…As you know, we love to hear from you, and the postbag is pretty much our favourite place! Feel free to send us your thoughts, new (late to the party) discoveries and any neighbourhood gossip and dad jokes to thefringeofit@gmail.com. For photos of our gardens and things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too (if you're lucky there might be a slideshow style carousel or swanky collage) @fringeofit*never, obviously. From Strictly sequins (did…Liv, erm, mention she’d had a birthday?) to primary school P.E- it’s a week of joy shared in all it’s shapes and forms (even if the rules of tennis are still just too complicated for some of us). In exciting news, Charlotte gets deep in pesto-appreciation and we do a *LIVE* (fanfare please!) taste test for Have I Got Food For You?! We also discuss big topics like being a Stanley Cup Girlie™, when Liv accidentally pretended to be E.T and that hour-long Bridgerton scene (yes, that one). As you know, we love to hear from you, and the postbag is pretty much our favourite place! Feel free to send us your thoughts, new (late to the party) discoveries and any neighbourhood gossip and dad jokes to thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for photos of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too (if you're lucky there might be a slideshow style carousel or swanky collage) @fringeofit Hosted on Acast. Resisting the urge to brag about pottery for too long *again*, there's a cruise straight into some top telly recommendations- including a brilliant show you may not have heard of and, in our opinion, a perfect film discovery, with a stellar soundtrack (not to brag or anything). We also begin a delayed catch up of the last four years- from children to breakups, there's a lot to cover- but hey, we've got to start somewhere! Also, and most importantly- the jeans we both can't stop wearing (or talking about)- it's big stuff! As you know, we love to hear from you! It’s the best! Feel free to send us your thoughts, feelings, new (late to the party) discoveries and any neighbourhood gossip to thefringeofit@gmail.com, and for photos of things we chatted about you can have a nosey on our IG too (if you're lucky there might be a slideshow style carousel) @fringeofit Hosted on Acast. Oh hello there! This weeks episode is accidentally (or not) peppered with a whole lot of wholesome. From discovering pottery painting, getting into (serious) collaging and the joy of supermarket summer picnic collections (Waitrose and those quiches, we’re looking at you)- it’s a summer feast of all things joyful. That is, until Saltburn comes in. We dive right into how Charlotte fared with a few, cough, certain scenes, the series that Liv has been watching in real time (!!) and get chatting about our better late than never discoveries with a bit of help from you lovely listeners- with a whole lot more in-between. As you know, we love to hear from you! It’s the best! Strap in.The new season kicks off with a mammoth edition of Telly Talk, where we pick our favourite TV and films from the past 4 years. Easy, right!?
