I am Gabby Reece- I'm an ex-professional athlete, wife, mother, author, business entrepreneur, and fitness professional. I certainly know what it takes be successful, but truth be told, the more I live and the deeper I get into life's relationships, the less I feel like I actually know. I’m wondering how to create a big and loving life that somehow still is tethered to the things that are important. To develop better skills in communication, with love and business. I understand that we do, in fact, live in a new time and how do I best parent through all of this newness? This show is a conversation with people from all walks of life and specialties. Trying to figure out how they use their experiences, successes, and failures to be better functioning humans in their everyday lives. Sharing effective information on self care, relationships, business, sex, love, parenting, aging and adventures.
Nobody has the answers, I certainly don’t, but by sharing and connecting we can make navigating life‘s obstacles easier.

How would you feel if you were ready to go to the Olympics (for the sixth time) and you just got word that because of COVID-19 it was postponed for a year?  It takes so much focus and energy to accomplish goals - how do we respond when the goal line gets moved?  When I heard the news about Tokyo getting pushed to 2021, I called my friend beach volleyball great, Kerri Walsh Jennings to just check on her state of mind.  After visiting on the phone I asked her if she would be willing to come on and talk about it for the show.  We got into how she is still so determined and excited to play. What I found fascinating was here is a person who knows how to win and has done it a lot (heading to her sixth Olympics with 3 gold medals and a Bronze in her pocket), but that is how this season has been about changing some of her internal and external techniques. Kerri's ability to see that even though something has worked for a while that it may not be working any more.  We got into marriage, kids, parenting and attitude towards age.   We recorded on line and had some patchy audio so bear with us on a few spots. I hope you are all safe and sane during the quarantine.  Enjoy.    Produced by Dear Media.
I wanted have a conversation with clear and safe guidelines on ways to support your IMMUNE  system during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is never going to be a 'one size fits all" fix, but there is a lot you can do to be proactive in protecting yourself and your health. This conversation is a streamlined look at things out there you can take that potentially boost your system from a Holistic or Naturopathic approach. The show had a window to sit with Dr. Paul Anderson, a Naturopathic physician out of Seattle, Washington. Lucky for me, my husband Laird Hamilton and dear friend Elijah Allan Blitz guest-hosted since I wasn't available.  A friendly reminder that all of this information is helpful but you still need to keep your stress in check (I know easier said than done), stay hydrated, and GET SOME SLEEP.  Being locked in the house can give you a lot of energy but sleep is still going to be king at defending your health. The audio quality may be less than ideal since in order to conduct the conversation it had to be recorded on Skype. Sending wishes of love and power to you and your families. Enjoy. Dr. Anderson is medical director of Advanced Medical Therapies in Seattle, Washington, a clinic focusing on the care of patients with cancer and chronic diseases.  He is a recognized educator and clinician in the area of the Orthomolecular use of nutritional therapies (oral and intravenous) in infectious, chronic and oncologic illness. In addition to three decades clinical experience he also was head of the interventional arm of a US-NIH funded human research trial using IV Vitamin C and other therapies in cancer patients.     Dr.  Andersons Recommendations: Nutrient doses I personally am taking short term for immune health – disclaimer I am not anyone’s physician and they should seek a qualified practitioner before taking anything: Vitamin C to “bowel tolerance” for me that is 2,000 – 3,000 mg 3x a day each meal N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) 500 to 1000 mg 3x a day each meal Vitamin A as fat soluble (a retinoid not a carotenoid) 25,000 IU once daily Vitamin D 15,000 IU daily The Ayurvedic herb ‘Neem’ 300 mg twice a day with food Zinc Bisglycinate 50 mg once a day while eating   Other things mentioned: Heat kills ‘cold’ virus (related to our sauna and immunity discussion) this is 113 degrees F Proper sleep and immunity Breathing, exercise and immunity   Produced by Dear Media.
Could the same things that make you "healthy" be what a plastic surgeon suggests to make you more beautiful/handsome?  Well, in the case of Dr. Darshan Shah - that's a large piece of the puzzle.  I spoke with Dr. Shah, a plastic surgeon turned preventative health business owner, about when it is and IS NOT a good idea to go under the knife. He shares some of the latest trends that don't require surgery that can help you look and feel better.  Regardless of his secret tips, Dr. Shah is a believer in not just hacking your way to flawless, but implementing practical habits that support all of you. Inside and out.    Produced by Dear Media.
What would it be like to become a superhero once a week? Well, when you’re Natalya Neidhart of the WWE- it’s in your genes. Nattie shares how she got in the family business and how her and her husband Tyson have been able to thrive even after he had a career-ending injury. Natty ponders some personal realizations after her beloved father passed, and how all families can work around each other. We discussed the challenges and techniques of staying in shape and healthy while on the road - something that’s never easy for anyone. Plus - stay tuned until the end for Nattie's health and fitness tips! Enjoy!
Could you work with your love partner? How about if you were a practicing attorney and gave it all up to open a  gym? Would you switch a successful business name and strategy because you wanted to help and reach more people and pivot mid-stride?  On this Podcast I have the great honor of talking  with Juliett and Kelly Starrett.  Juliett (known as J-Star) shares her tale of surviving breast cancer twice, opting to support her and her husband's dream to move into the gym and mobility space, and oh yeah all while raising their two daughters together.  Kelly Starrett of Supple Leopard and Mobility WOD fame shares overcoming childhood obstacles and the ways in which his wife helped him express his brilliance and how they make it work together?     Produced by Dear Media.
Doesn't matter who you are- when you're a parent, you don't really know what you are talking about. You are definitely not cool, your music sucks, and oh yeah, you blow it often.    This week is a family affair.  I asked my reluctant 16-year-old daughter Reece to give me some insights on her experience dealing with the world we live in, what her Dad and I are getting wrong, and maybe the few things we are getting right. We cap things off with Laird to discuss parenting for about 15 minutes after we get into Reece's conversation.  I'm not sure if you can tell, but somehow neither one of them wanted to talk to me.  At least they're honest.  Family.   Produced by Dear Media.
Would you call the same person to discuss empathy and then help advise you about the quantum realm for movies like The Avengers and Ant-man? You would if you knew my friend, Spiros Michalakis. He is almost too brilliant for me to talk too, and human enough to get us all to understand. Did you know light isn’t real? Don’t worry Spiros is kind enough to break it down for us all to understand! He also explains how Star Trek inspired his career in math and how he got involved in Hollywood movies. And for you science lovers - there is a bonus 20 minutes where Spiros dives deep on redefining the meaning of time. Enjoy!
I really appreciated talking with Ryan Holiday, noted author of Ego is The Enemy, The Obstacle is the Way, and his latest book Stillness is the Key.  In this busy day and age, who doesn't love a guide around high-brow, old world philosophy made digestible? Ryan has a thoughtful ability to discuss pillars of conduct that can enhance all of our lives without losing modern day context.  I have to admit that if Instagram and Twitter could have a "philosopher", one of them would be Ryan. Doesn't matter your age or gender these messages are important for all of us.  Oh, and this is from a man who was successful in College, but decided he had things to do so quit after his second year.  Enjoy!
Meet Rachel Balkovec the first female coach in Major League Baseball.  She was just hired with the Yankees organization to be an organizational hitting coach.  Rachel sits down and discusses her frustrations over trying to break into America's game, and what is driving her motivation.  Rachel, transitioned from being an experienced strength and conditioning coach to the uncharted  waters of a hitting coach.  Something we can all relate to- managing our fears of being good enough while holding on to the focus and effort it takes to make something happen. This conversation is about an incredible woman, but more importantly, it's about going for your dreams.   Produced by Dear Media.
On today's show, I sat down with an old work husband of mine Mr. Neil Strauss- famed author of 'The Game", a book to inform you how to seduce any woman you wish.  Or maybe it was a study on psychology?  One would have to ask themselves why would you be more apt to sleep with someone who ignores or insults you.  He also wrote "The Truth" and has written for countless publications such as The New Yorker and  Rolling Stone. Having been recently divorced and a father of a son, I wanted to sit down and find out where Neil's perspective has shaken out, somewhere between a game and the truth. The question is- does he still think he was right?   Produced by Dear Media.
The truth of the matter is that I actually met Laird interviewing him for a TV show over 24 years ago. I know him as beefcake or lover, but my first guest is known as a Big Wave Surfer as well as the tow-in and stand up paddle pioneer. He didn't make me cry on that first meeting, but he did manage to catch me off guard during this one. He discusses why he keeps pushing himself after all these years, and we get into some personal elements of our marriage. You think Laird is just some daredevil, but what you will find is that he is a deep feeling person, trying to navigate parenting, love, life and aging- just like the rest of us.  He definitely has a lot of good tips and reminders, and he also shares some issues he is still wrestling with. Laird has such an interesting perspective from growing up on Kauai, risking his life for his sport, and letting Mother Nature be his Master professor.   Enjoy!    Check out   Produced by Dear Media.
I was fortunate enough to sit down with the most successful woman in American Open-Wheel Racing: bad ass Danica Patrick. She is not only fast and strong, but is a total romantic and into crystals.  I'm fortunate enough to call her a friend, but this hard-charging beauty is still just looking for the best way to live and love. From her days of racing to owning multiple businesses, and dating Aaron Rodgers you would think she has "it all figured out”. But like the rest of us mere mortals, she's looking for answers and building her life after racing. One thing that is not a surprise: she talks the same way she drives- straight forward and with total purpose. This little firecracker is tough, intelligent, curious and not afraid to be vulnerable.   Enjoy!   Produced by Dear Media.
