Episode 59 - Talking Fall Sorghum Syrup....and Gary’s Recounting of his 379-Mile Canoe Trip in 1974

There's always lots going on when Gary and Mark get together. We got to sample some homegrown syrup produced by Dan Cameron made from sorghum. It's a perfect way to celebrate fall. Gary whippeed up some of his homemade buttermilk biscuits and that got him talking. The main part of this episode is the retelling of just some of the adventures Gary and Steve Blizzard had in 1974 when they paddled 379 miles down the Ohio River and up the Kentucky River to Harrodsburg. They were helping the City of Harrodsburg celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the town (Fort Harrod) by Col James Harrord in 1774. As always, it's a great story.   You can watch the video version of this podcast on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/MxhLcgeCPVs   Read more about our show and Gary & Mark at: www.GaryAndMark.com.

Professional Hiking Guide Bev MacDowell is our Guest - Episode 56

The Gary & Mark Show was pleased to welcome Bev MacDowell as our guest for this episode. Bev, from Asheville, has a lot going on. She still teaches "cursive" to new students at Carolina Day School where she has worked for over twenty years. And that's just for starters. At the age where most people are retired, Bev is just hitting her stride. She is a professional hiking guide with the Blue Ridge Hiking Company in Asheville. If that's not enough, she also works with "search and rescue" to help locate and bring home lost hikers, backpackers, and others. To top that off, Bev is a member of and serves as an occasional leader for Carolina Mountain Club hikes. Bev talks about all of that and more with Gary and Mark. And if you go back far enough (and we did) she mentions that she was once a model in Europe. We can believe it. You can watch the video version on Youtube at: https://youtu.be/MaWt9KJRQiI   You can learn more about the Blue Ridge Hiking Company at: BlueRidgeHikingCo.com Learn more about the Carolina Mountain Club at: CarolinaMountainClub.org Check out the Gary and Mark Show including our Podcasting University info at: GaryAndMark.com

Larry Eblen Joins Us for Episode 53

Gary's older brother, Larry, joins us in the guest seat for this episode recorded via Zoom. Larry has a lot of life experiences including serving a career in the US Air Force as a meteorologist. But he mostly discusses "BEER" in this episode, specifically...non-alcoholic brews. Larry has devised his own system for rating NA beers and he shares with us his top pics and also those at the bottom of the pile. It makes for an interesting show. While Larry might have retired as a Lt. Colonel, he doesn't let that position keep him from entering other professions. He's always been a part of the staff at the Gary & Mark Podcasting University. We're happy to announce that Larry has agreed to take on the position of Dean of our new Central US campus of the GMPU.   Check out the Youtube version at: https://youtu.be/Om8CCSAmD1E
