Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Kandeel Javid, Co-Director of Muslims for Progressive Values in Boston. We discussed our experiences as gay Muslim men, looking into the state of hypocrisy that is mainstream Muslim culture. Later we envisioned an Islam which was Inclusive and truly reflective of the diversity in community alluded to in the Koran / Quran / Qur'an.
It's late at night, and I run into an old acquaintance. Someone I went crazy over. They wanted to shame me, and I wanted their approval. But I chose Allah's approval instead. This is healing, this is the light of Allah. Living in the Light of Allah, is more satisfying than having the Devil Dance on your back, chasing mortals through whom he takes you far from Allah.
